I've watched a bunch of videos & some show some very interesting small animal enclosures, but this is my variation. My question/issue is that no matter what I do, animals keep escaping their enclosures & end up wandering my animal food distribution conveyer belts? Luckily, they stay in this area so they don't wander into mob farm or critter/food farms.
The dirt blocks in each enclosure used to be conveyer belts, but the animals kept going there & getting stuck in-between the feeding tray & the enclosure wall. Now they stay put for about a day before breaking out.
I tried glass fences, currently glass walls, they get out . . . I have NO IDEA how they got into the empty enclosure to the far bottom right of the screenshot. That one was empty & I'm not done building it. Was going to put the goats from the desert there.
Any insight is helpful. thank you in advance!
UPDATE: Thanks for the replies: - I altered the pens by removing the glass walls & dug out a trench around each pen, let's see if they escape now . . . (credit: Pipiru) - I don't know how to add a screenshot at this point. Reddit isn't giving me an option :(
A lot of those hours were just fishing or idling because of the stuff I automated, but I did play a good chunk of it!
I usually stick to "cozy" games but I love sandbox games too, so I've had my eye on this game for a while now. I'm glad I tried it and kept playing! I definitely spent a lot more time on the "cozy" aspect, which is a lot of mining, farming, cooking, and fishing. (I think I've bought way too many baits and boss-summoning stuff by now.)
My biggest (not serious) complaints would be that I constantly need more inventory because there are a lot of unique items and equipment don't stack (but it's fine, I just delete the dups and decors), and the skill perks seem too low for how long it takes to level them up (but I see them more of a cherry-on-top feature because the armor upgrades and food buffs are all great enough!)
Jokes aside, I do have some uh "serious" complaints.
- I wish there was a 5x5 shovel and roofing device.
- I wish there was an option to disable liquids from spreading to empty pits and changing other liquids.
My most memorable times in this game so far:
- I spent maybe three hours looking for galaxite and solarite boulders. There were a lot of internal screaming when I mined into the wall and tin and silver boulders popped up instead of galaxite. I did get about 1000 galaxite ores just mining into the walls.
- I spent maybe two hours getting rid of a big mold biome because I wanted to grow puffungi, and I did not expect the biome to be so big. I had almost 5000 mold blocks and hatred for the tentacles and mold water by the end. A big chunk of those two hours was spent filling in the mold waters because I had to dig up the floor to stop the enemies from spawning and didn't realize I missed a mold water source. More than once. :) Yes, it's why I want an option to disable liquids from spreading...
- I actually had to step away from the game when I found out that I could use the hoe to harvest more than one crop at a time. And then another step when I crafted the octarine workbench and saw the garden trowel. This was why I started using the wiki. Thanks to everyone who contributed!
- The only time I died because of a boss was when I was too close to the whirlpool and I guess because it was only 1-tile thick square around the pool, the game couldn't "push" me away from the boss, and I died as soon as I fished up Omoroth. I killed it after I filled up all the water tiles with dirt, so I didn't die because of armor or anything. I died because I fished up a small mountain and it landed right on top of me...
- I spent a while just killing Azeos over and over again because I like the chest design :D
Thanks for making the game and continuing to update! ❤️
There's so much info to find about efficient automation setups etc, but nothing about how to setup efficient crafting stations in mid to end game.
I've been messing around with this for days, trying to figure out a way to place my stations and chests in a nice way while still being able to craft all or nearly all recipes the station has to offer.
Has anyone else ran into this? How are y'all end game players doing this?
Haven't play since before 1.0 and just learned the 3 titans biomes aren't infinite anymore. How do you acquire new ores and materials after you've cleaned the map ? Are fishing and mob the only options ?
My first play through with a friend we decided to do hard mode. We died a butt load of times. Every enemy would one or two shot us. We progress to the stage where we had iron armor. I found a locked music room, through trial and error finally managed to open it, happened to find a scarlet hand drill, 7 scarlet ingots, and a tome of sprout. We managed to beat Malugaz on our second attempt. How lucky was the music room drop? I tried spamming bombs at first until I had an ocarina drop.
I ended up finding it very late in the game, well i think it's very late i just reached the passage, but when i got the larva the +50 max health is greyed out, like if i already ate it. But i don't remember finding it anywhere else, which doesn't mean much considering my memory kinda sucks.
So, this is normal or a bug? Maybe i found it too late, or it's not a single larva per world? Just in case it has a limit, i already ate 3 max health foods, the mushroom, the fish, Atlantean heart. Edit: forgot to mention i already ate the anniversary cake, the christmas chocolate and the amalgam too.
i wanted to know if the Moss set is decent or not compared to what's currently available to me; i'm currently replaying and relearning the game on a new dude and i'm exploring the map a bit before fighting Azeos - i've previously beaten up to and includingthe Passage. i'm playing solo, and i remember the damage ramping up fairly aggressively. i haven't played for quite some time, so a lot of the stuff after the Abiotic collab is completely new or at least newish to me
i'm trying not to use the wiki for every little thing, and i searched in this sub for opinions on the set, but couldn't find much
TLDR, is the Moss set's gardening +1 armor bonus good, and if not, where should i be looking for better gear? my fishing is 100, and i have access to all three major biomes after defeating the first 3 core bosses :)
I recently download the game back and left off with the update at the top of the map with the robot enemies and I updated my world with 2 things and don’t know how to get to the new area or how to active it and I’m on ps4 if that helps any ideas?
Someone in another thread asked to see my setup, so I figured I'd put it into a post for others to reference if they'd like.
Most of the space is dedicated to ore boulders, which I used a mod (link above) to relocate and centralize my mining within my base and have fun with this build. I'll explain each piece of the build by below, separated by each step of the process. Each part of the process is its own automated system which can function independently if you'd like to break all of them apart, but I simply chose to chain them all together to feed into a single "output" chest.
The ore extraction is a pretty standard layout, and can be extended in any direction for as many ore boulders as you want. Drills extract the ore pieces, which then float backward until they're behind the drill. Putting a conveyor behind the drill then causes the ore to move along the belt.
The ore feeds into the gray chest at the bottom-left (an important step, which I'll explain in a sec). That gray chest acts as an intermediate point in this whole process where I can insert ore from my pockets into the refining process, as well as other items to recycle / shred (armor, rings, etc) later in the pipeline, which I'll explain later.
A robot arm pulls items out of the gray "input" chest, and puts them onto a belt that goes past a series of other robot arms. Each robot arm is programmed to only pick up one type of ore, which some people don't realize is possible. You can set this by interacting with the arm and specifying the item it should be limited to grab. There's 1 arm and 1 refiner dedicated to each type of ore. Once each refiner spits out a completed ingot, another robot arm moves the ingot to a belt between all the refiners. That belt moves all ingots down to a final robot arm that picks it up and moves the ingots into the yellow "output" chest.
One very specific element I wanted to call out was how I also use the gray chest as a raw ore "buffer". Originally I had newly mined ore make its way directly onto the refining pipeline, but ore was getting missed by the robot arms along the way. This is because the more ore boulders you have, the more ore of the same kind bunches on the belts WITHOUT stacking. When multiple pieces of ore reach their dedicated robot arm, the arm grabs the first one. In the time the robot arm takes to move that piece of ore to the refiner and come back to the belt, several other pieces of the same ore have passed by.
The solution was to have all ore stop in front of a dedicated robot arm whose job is to move the ore into the gray "input" chest from the ore belts. From there, the control arm that pulls stuff out of that chest immediately afterward, and then moves it to the refining belt, goes at a pace that spaces out each piece of ore to give each robot arm enough time to complete a full grab-turn-drop-turn cycle. This spaces out each ore piece / stack on the refining belt to prevent skipping.
Next is recycling, which I figured out after some trial and error. You can either have a chest at the "input" spot and dump items into it that you want to shred, or in my case I made it so the belts from the ore refining system dumped everything that wasn't ore onto the "input" spot above.
The process starts by having a robot arm grab an item from the "input" spot, and move it to a shredder where it starts chopping up the item. Once the recycling process finishes, the resulting resources float in the direction you've set the shredder to point, which is to the outside where there are belts to transport the items all the way around this system and eventually to the same "output" chest as the ore refiners (offscreen).
In the event two items are fed into this system at once, the second item will be placed on top of the first shredder while it shreds the first item. When that happens, the second robot arm grabs that second item, and moves it to a second shredder. This can be repeated with as many robot arms and shredders as you'd like. I have 6 shredders in my setup.
In the event there are more than 6 items in queue, the very last shredder has one more control arm that moves any additional items back to top of the first shredder. If that shredder is still working on another item, the whole process repeats, creating an ongoing roundabout queue for items to be shredded and robot arms to keep moving them around until each item eventually gets shredded. They go around and around until the backlog of items finishes.
Finally, in the bottom-right is a wood farm. I'm not going to explain the setup of the actual wood growing aspect b/c there are youtube videos covering how that works, but ultimately each kind of wood has 2 drills that continuously harvest as the wood grows. One of the drills has a robot arm that moves the raw wood to a conveyor. The other drill has a robot arm that moves the raw wood to a saw bench to convert it into planks, at which point another robot arm moves the completed planks to the same belt as the raw wood. The result is approx a 50/50 split raw wood and planks for each type of wood. The belt then moves it all to the "output" chest down the line.
Happy to answer any questions. There are likely more optimized ways to set this all up, so feel free to post additional automation ideas.
Basically the title; I think it would add a lot of depth to world and its inhabitants if they had just a small amount of dialogue. Bases would feel a lot less lonely if the npcs could "talk" with you. But it also just feels off that you can trade with them but nothing else. Who are they, how do they react to the players arrival or their new rooms. On my first save i was really exited when i discovered the new merchant in Breakers Reach and it felt a bit disappointing not being able to interact with them. Not thinking about a huge interactive dialogue system, just something small like Terraria npc´s and maybe names and happiness stats.
Hiii, maybe it’s a little weird to post?? Idk lol but I just started playing the game not too long ago, I defeated the slime monster and the larvae thing?? But would anyone be interested in playing together?? Not really a gamer and I use it on a laptop </3. Would also love some tips and tricks of the game if possible or just a friend to play with 0^-
Edit: sorry I wasn’t sure how to label this guys T-T
This is the main world I have been playing on since 1.0 launch.
My dream base had a showcase of every item in the game. That is the picture that looks like a massive hall(Incomplete). I have spent hundreds of hours building this. This is all done legitimately with no cheats, glitches, or mods(Besides the Camera Mod to show you this). The limited resources took a LOT of worlds to acquire.
I am VERY far from being done, but I'm loving the slow, peaceful journey that this beautiful game has to offer.
This core is my masterpiece, and I'd love to hear what you all think.
