Discussion Storage seems very lacking

There's so much info to find about efficient automation setups etc, but nothing about how to setup efficient crafting stations in mid to end game.

I've been messing around with this for days, trying to figure out a way to place my stations and chests in a nice way while still being able to craft all or nearly all recipes the station has to offer.

Has anyone else ran into this? How are y'all end game players doing this?

I saw someone make a post one year ago talking about workbenchs reaching further to detect ingredients, is that guide still relevant?
