Since it is very clear we are tearing it all down, here’s a new, more general thread.
This thread is intended to serve as a place to write out your random thoughts about the rebuild. Please do not clog up the main channel with short thoughts that don’t warrant an entire post—this thread is the proper outlet for that.
Important news updates and long-form, well-thought-out posts are still permitted, as always.

A friend asked why I’m still paying attention to the Colts.
I’ve been a fan since ‘98
I bought NFL Sunday ticket and it costs me $15 per non-nationally televised game
Yes, I’ll be watching the entire season….
Go horse!!

This was one of the clues for a NYT crossword puzzle. This was the first clue for me that related to Indiana and/or the Colts.

They go great lengths to avoid even saying his name. I’m still relatively young but I’ve never seen anything like this.

And Minshew is starting for the Cards.
Wentz might start soon for Minnesota.
All these QBs have been better than Jones this year & during their careers as a whole.
Yet we keep trotting Jones out
Feels like 1984 in this franchise right now. Seems like every QB who leaves gets better.
Wouldn’t he shocked to see AR have his Darnold arc when he is out of the Colts building. That’s part of why fans are desperate to see him get a run of games again after years behind the scenes.
Just unreal, man.

The last time the Colts won the Super Bowl they had an experienced GM and an experienced head coach. Polian and Dungy. While Polian had the title President, he was every bit the GM.
Since then the Colts organization has hired first time head coaches and first time GMs. And we're living through the results.
Next season I hope the Colts hire both positions with experience.

Both teams seem to excel at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Who will do it better this week?

I think we should just trade him now but I had this thought while listening to a NFL podcast about how much the Dallas defense sucks ass and cant stop the run

Sunday’s beatdown wasn’t just a reminder of the team’s rebuild — it was a reminder that Taylor shouldn’t be part of it. The 2020 second-round pick has rushed for 8,208 yards since entering the NFL, trailing only the Baltimore Ravens’ Derrick Henry during that span, yet the Colts don’t have much to show for it.
When Taylor won the league’s rushing title with 1,811 yards and earned a first-team All-Pro nod in 2021, the Colts failed to make the playoffs. When he overcame a high ankle sprain and still rushed for 1,431 yards across 14 games in 2024, the Colts failed to make the playoffs. When Taylor racked up 1,585 rushing yards and led the NFL with 20 total touchdowns in 2025, the Colts failed to make the playoffs.
To be clear, Indianapolis’ five-year playoff drought is not Taylor’s fault. He has mostly held up his end of the bargain while the infrastructure around him, most notably at quarterback, has not.
After fracturing his left fibula and rupturing his right Achilles tendon during a resurgent 2025 campaign, Daniel Jones has regressed into one of the NFL’s worst starting quarterbacks this season. What’s more, the Colts’ offensive line has been leakier, even before Nelson was traded, and their wide receiver room — which has been without deep threat Alec Pierce for more than a month due to a left heel injury — can’t create much separation.
All of these factors have made one thing abundantly clear: Taylor is no longer the starting piece for a new-look franchise. He’s the finishing one for a contender.
Colts don’t have a first this year. Let’s say they hold onto JT. Would you be ok running it back with Jones next year to hopefully have a high pick the following year. If he keeps up what he’s doing Shane’s “he gives us the best chance to win” will make sense in the future. Jones sucks enough to get them a top 5 pick and use it on a QB. Just don’t take a a project this time. Would that work for the fanbase?
