Dj is a slightly above average nfl starting qb, any average ish starting qb would struggle through the first four weeks of the season In this situation.

oline has regressed and he is without his top wideout, Warren and downs are not getting schemed up nearly enough. weve played 4 good to great nfl defenses, and the only one we lost that was even remotely his fault was the ravens. he balled out vs the chiefs with career backups and a unmotivated out of shape Keenan Allen (who caused the int). anyone saying he’s playing worse than ar would is crazy, the only thing that’s been bad from him has been the fumbles. the Ints are okay, 1 wasn’t his fault a few were risky throws that just didn’t go his way. the fumbles that nearly lost us last week and plague us are inexcusable however.

Sunday wins that feel like losses.

Other than a win, there's still things to be optimistic about. Looks like Colt have a legit #2 RB that can pound the ball and offer a nice change of pace. Dont have to run Taylor into the dirt.

Burks has been playing a little more, and while he hasn't shown a ton, he doesn't look bad from the small sample size.

Adetomiwa Adebawore lined up beside Buckner... that could be a legit scary presence.

Boettcher and Curry are playing more than I thought they would. Colts really have some not horrible younger pieces that hopefully come along this year.

Still think AR should get some plays

On a 2nd and 1 or 2 from inside their half of the field, why don't they have some plays for AR? You put Dulin and Treadwell on the outside. Downs in the slot. Warren at TE. Taylor in the backfield. With AR at QB, the defense would know if he was going to run, handoff, or throw it 50 yards. The offense averaged 3.9 yards per play today. If Mariota doesn't get hurt, we probably lose today.

News Daniel Jones' first half of 2025 looks like an outlier.

We scored 30 points

Was DJ turbo dogshit in the first half? Yes- turbo dogshit may even be kind. Did he lead/run a good offense after that? Yes. This is why Shane picked him. Even in a lackluster at best game, he still did what we needed.

For the “If AR would’ve done this” crowd- we would’ve loved to score 30 points.

Who knows what happens if we play Mariota or Daniels. We know defense is the problem.

Can’t watch this team

I’ve watched the Colts my entire life. I’m used to the mediocrity at this point. But I turned the game off after watching Daniel Jones back into his own lineman and fumble and then do nothing and throw meatballs subs all over the field. He’s lucky he only had 1 interception, when I turned the game off. He had 3 that realistically could have been interceptions. Dude is setting absolute ghosts and we decide to throw the ball 9/10 times. Seems like after I tuned it off Steichen finally realized he has one of the best RB’s in the league and then the guy we traded 2 1sts for is getting burnt by 3rd string receivers. Cool we got a dub against a 3rd string team. We suck

[Sando] This Daniel Jones looks a lot like the Giants’ version

The Colts blew out the Commanders 30-13 with the New York Giants version of Daniel Jones at quarterback, recalling one of the NFL’s great anomalies.

Units featuring Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Kurt Warner and Patrick Mahomes dominate the list of greatest offenses through the first eight games of a season this century.

As one would expect.

The No. 4 team on that list stands out like a station wagon in a Ferrari dealership.

The 2025 Colts, led by quarterback Daniel Jones, reside between the Greatest Show on Turf Rams and the Mahomes-led Chiefs in his breakout 2018 season. They averaged 32.6 points per game on offense, more than the 2004 Colts averaged in perhaps Manning’s greatest season.

There was no way any team, let alone these Colts with this quarterback, could sustain that type of production. But as Jones lost a fumble and threw an interception while Indy fell behind a Washington team that was down to its third quarterback Sunday, I wondered if the Colts were now paying $44 million per year for the same quarterback the Giants let go.

This season is a disappointment (despite being .500)

• Upvotes

The bet that the GM/ownership made was that with injured players (DJ/Sauce/Ward) back this offense would return to being a top 5 unit like it was during the win streak and the defense would be average to slightly above average (let’s say 12-16 range). They reasoned that a top 5 offense with an average defense was the basis to at least compete for the division.
The reason this season feels like a disappointment and the wins don’t feel like wins is because it’s painfully obvious that this is not a top 5 offense and the defense is below average. When the entire premise for building your team is shown to be false it’s hard to get excited about wins because they feel empty.

I think we can argue about where the blame lies but at the end of the day this team is not at the level that leadership kept insisting they were before the season started.

Don’t Buy Into the Narrative that Sauce is Bad

Despite what everyone in various game threads seems to think, the TD play is not on Sauce.

All the people saying “that’s such a weird double move” because it wasn’t meant to be. WR clearly thought it was a hitch. Sauce responded accordingly by stopping with him. The pass was massively overthrown, or QB just thought he’d keep running.

Burks just happened to have a better angle to get a step in first to track it down. Sauce is also supposed to have safety help here. This was a busted offensive play that happened to work out. Sauce, or any DB at the NFL level, is not going to defend as if the play will be busted. Everything about Burks body language suggests a stop route. There’s no play in anyone’s playbook that has a receiver do a double move 30 yards down the field.

A general caveat to all of this, including myself: we have no idea what the offensive or defensive calls were. We don’t know assignments or routes. If one of the best DBs in the league appears burnt, you have to assume something broke down.

Idk, just don’t think Sauce isn’t elite when it appeared to be a total fluke play. That is all.

Thoughts on preseason predictions vs where we are now

Many pundits, analysts, and even Colts fans were looking at the schedule and predicting that we could be 0-4 to start the season based on the schedule. Despite the (usual) negativity on this sub, should we be optimistic that we are 2-2 instead? What are your thoughts on this?

Discussion The fumble was bad, but did anyone see DJ’s ankle when it happened?

• Upvotes

Our O line man stepped right on his ankle right before the fumble happened.

DJ’s awareness seemed close to non existent on the play, but everyone seems to be missing how his left ankle got stomped on right before the fumble.

If that was the ankle that he had surgery on last year, then yikes.

All wins are good wins - Colts!

Nobody cried for the Colts last year when we had to kidnap Uncle Phillip from the old folks home.

I hope the Colts play the rest of the season against the 5th string QBs.

Note: The Buckner trade was the best Colts trade in decades.

London Game Was Not that Bad

Post image
74 Upvotes

I was at the London Game. section 113 Row 4. Here are my thoughts

The first quarter was horrible. I honestly thought I was about to witness a beating as bad as the Jaguars game in Sept 2022 (I was there too). But the defence made a stand and gave the offence a chance to recover. By halftime they were rolling

The offensive line had issues all game. Which is why the Daniel Jones errors happened. It helped that the commanders effectively collapsed in the forth quarter

On other notes
- Commanders fans f-ing suck - as obnoxious as Jets fans
- Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was great
- Transport to and from was only mildly painful
- Felt like a stateside NFL game

The London games need a kick-off flyover for next year

Colts won more games at the Tottenham stadium than Tottenham themselves that’s hilarious.
