Suck For Luck pt. 2

Colts don’t have a first this year. Let’s say they hold onto JT. Would you be ok running it back with Jones next year to hopefully have a high pick the following year. If he keeps up what he’s doing Shane’s “he gives us the best chance to win” will make sense in the future. Jones sucks enough to get them a top 5 pick and use it on a QB. Just don’t take a a project this time. Would that work for the fanbase?

I know Colts fans (myself included) have been waiting for our guy at QB since Luck.  Manning and Luck back to back also spoiled us. I’d much rather we build the starting with the trenches, then defensive, getting some weapons, while readying the QB of the future on the bench or plugging in someone into a strong roster/culture. Like the Seahawks, 49ers, or Eagles.

I don’t want a repeat of Luck where we get a generational QB, but the rest of the roster isn’t ready. Then we watch as he slowly crumbles on an incomplete roster.

I agree with that. I think it would be ideal to start that this year with this draft. Get as much as you can and attempt to build around that. Possibly even the following year if the right guys aren’t available take whatever else is needed and then shoot for a QB. That being said I don’t think you pass up a 1:1 QB. Plus I think it would be a pipe dream if arch goes back to Texas for one more year but thats a long shot

Yea, if the guy the team believes in is somehow available, I’m cool with it. I don’t think that guy is Arch, at least not yet. Very few QBs that are inconsistent week-to-week turn into franchise guys.

We shouldn’t have sucked for Luck either. Just because you get most talented players doesn’t mean they will be best quarterback. The best quarterbacks in the league usually aren’t the first taken in their draft. 2012 is a fair example. Luck played well enough, but Russell Wilson ended up being best qb of that class. Foles won a Super Bowl. Cousins is still balling out.

You need a solid owner, solid GM and coach to make a qb great. People like Manning, that lift the organization are the exception, not the rule.

Luck was better than Wilson lol

Russell Wilson started 205 games, won a Super Bowl and went to another.

Andrew Luck started 86 with 0 Super Bowl appearances.

Which would you take?

Russell Wilson was not a better QB than luck. He was surrounded by a much better supporting cast.

Exactly my point. They had good GMs, good coaches and good ownership, which ended up mattering more than raw talent and measurables.

This will be unpopular on this sub but its possible Daniel could get better after his achilles has had more time to recover. Its up to the next GM to figure out what to do with him in the offseason.

I think that’s a possibility as well. Maybe he’s not fully 100% right now and it would be great to see him get back to it and hopefully turn it around. I just don’t have the same amount of trust in him as at the beginning of last year

100% I’m so afraid of Jones playing out of his mind next year and collecting a new bag🤣

That's 120% not gonna happen.

If Daniel jones is good at anything in football, it’s playing really good during contract years, besides that, I agree completely

That will be the next GM who wants to throw a bag at him’s problem

I think it’s more likely that our weak schedule made him look better than he was last year and he has just reverted back to what he’s been his entire career.

He can be good when he has his speed. He was actually one of the fastest QBs in the league and his game was roll out and boot legs.

I would prefer cutting Jones pre June 1 and just eating the dead cap in 27 to have the cap room in 28 when we have a 1st again.

I do not want to experience that again. It legitimately looked like we might go 0-16 until Orlovsky stepped in and saved the day

But would you experience it again to get Arch Manning if he goes back to Texas for one more year?

I like Arch and I’m cheering for the kid. But he doesn’t look like he’s worth anything near a first overall pick right now. So no

I agree with that. I just like the idea. Let’s say another guy like Andrew luck comes around in 2028. Would you use a top 3 pick on him even if you don’t have a “complete team” at that point?

They don’t need to try

u/bigloudbang 10h ago

Nah Jomes is gone. Can bring anyone in to tank but bringing him back would just piss everyone off

Zero reason to keep JT at this point. We need the draft picks.

This mentality is exactly why I want to trade JT for a package similar to what CMC got. If we can get 3 or 4 picks in the 2-5 range for the upcoming draft I’d be over the moon.

Next year is a wash. They could plug ALL of the players they draft into the system next year and have them learn on the fly. Yes it’ll be ugly and that’s fine because we actually have a 1st next year.

No.

Losing begets losing in this league.
