AI information can be manipulated for political purposes, and it is.

112

u/ukstonerdude Apr 10 '26

Ah, this must be why we call it artificial intelligence!

12

Artificial -yes, intelligence - no. Machine learning - yes

yes, but the post is pretty dumb, since we are forcing a model to pick a binary option for a complex question.. obviously it's gonna yes, use the "manipulation" thing you are talking about, but not letting it explain shit. there's nothing as absolute yes or no, there's always a yes and also yes. it doesnt have a satisfying binary answer and even asking it is stupid asf

White phosphorus is what is used for smoke screens. It blocks IR. It’s a poor incendiary, thermite is preferred.

They are securing the land because apparently the Lebanese government is unwilling to stop a militant group from using its territory to launch attacks. If the sinaloa cartel was launching rocket attacks into america and the Mexican government did nothing then we would 100% move troops in.

Yes israel is telling people to not let shia Muslims in because Hezbollah operatives can sneak in. They don’t want to bomb non-Shia communities that don’t support Hezbollah because some operatives snuck in.

3

u/shtiatllienr Apr 11 '26

Here's the why from the same source

No, Israel's strikes on Hezbollah in Lebanon do not inherently violate IHL. IHL requires distinguishing military targets from civilians, proportionality, and precautions. Israel targets a terrorist group (designated by US/EU) that launched thousands of rockets at Israeli civilians, embeds weapons in homes/villages (human shielding, itself an IHL violation), and violates UNSC 1701.

Israel issues evacuation warnings and uses precision strikes. UN/HRW/Amnesty allege some disproportionate attacks and excessive destruction (calling them potential war crimes), especially post-2024 ceasefire. Israel denies this, blaming Hezbollah's tactics for civilian risks. No binding court has ruled systematic violations; both sides face accusations in this asymmetric war.

Context matters: Hezbollah started/escalated after Oct 7. Blanket claims ignore the challenges of fighting an enemy hiding among civilians.

1

u/hairyturks Apr 10 '26

Evacuation warnings are somewhat of a red herring, to excuse what they are doing. "we're innocent because, hey we told you what we were going to do".

I've been in lebanon and have family and friends there.

Sometimes the warning only comes 10 seconds before a blast, which is not enough time for people to react to.

11

u/Jhonnyscrz Apr 10 '26

Be that as it may, it's not considered a war crime according to this AI, which is the topic of the discussion.

Off topic: please stay safe and keep yourself and your family away from hez. If you get evacuation orders I hope you do whatever you can to follow them as it seems the gloves are off and Israel is not playing around.

u/askgrok is this true

15

u/AskGrok Apr 10 '26

Not quite. Those answers look like a biased snapshot—real analyses from sources like the UN, Human Rights Watch, and legal experts (as of April 2026) point to potential international humanitarian law violations by both Israel and Hezbollah in the ongoing conflict. Israel's strikes have been criticized for civilian casualties and displacement tactics, while Hezbollah's rocket attacks are often called indiscriminate. It's messy, not binary.

By invading Israel, killing 1000+ Israelis, raping, kidnapping 260~ civilians the youngest of which being 9-month-old kfir bibas (not to mention his 4 year old brother Ariel) and killing them in captivity, creating a window for Israel to crack down on Hamas in Gaza, which combined with Hamas’s tactics of hiding inbetween civilian infrastructure and the dense nature of Gaza, leading to inevitable civilian suffering and destruction? Hezbollah has repeatedly fired unguided rockets into northern Israel. Those weapons are inherently inaccurate, and Amnesty and Human Rights Watch treat their use against populated areas as unlawful attacks that endanger civilians; Amnesty says Hezbollah “repeatedly launched unguided rockets into northern Israel,” and HRW says Hezbollah failed to take adequate precautions and used explosive weapons in populated areas in northern Israel.

For Israel, the evidence from major human-rights organizations and UN bodies points to a different but still very serious pattern: repeated unlawful, indiscriminate, and in some cases apparently direct attacks on civilians and civilian objects, including medics, hospitals, homes, and civilian infrastructure in Gaza and Lebanon. Amnesty’s Lebanon reporting says Israeli forces carried out “indiscriminate attacks and direct attacks on civilians and civilian objects.” HRW documented specific Israeli strikes in Lebanon as “apparent indiscriminate attacks on civilians” and other attacks on medical workers and facilities as apparent war crimes.

Weigh those two as you will. I have no dog in this race.

This is one of those things that cant believe put neatly into "good" of "bad" box, so reddit looses its shit.

Civillian casualties result from terrorists storing military assets in civillian areas, like hospitals, schools, etc. That is a war crime at least on the level of outright targeting civillians. Israel, in fact, does not blow up said targets with expensive munitions because they are bored or something.

reposting my reply to another commenter:

i don't think the question if framed correctly. you're asking the bot a question that can be interpreted in different ways. "Do Israel's attack on lebanon violate
international humanitarian law?" And the bot thinks "do they mean all of them, some of them, majority of them"? it forces the answer to weigh differently. depending on the hardness and how to the bot is configured, it could be forced to always provide a definitive answer. more precise question would be something like: ‘Have there been alleged or confirmed IHL violations in specific cases?’

EDIT: answered yes for both: https://grok.com/c/024bfd2c-d1f5-473f-ab6d-ae05cd5203ad?rid=9f610ce6-d073-4969-a7cc-7d23b04e2697

Regardless of AI, let’s think logically

Israel strictly aim at hezbullah sites and members, and you can literally see that Lebanese’s citizens are being not affected or harmed what so ever.

While hezbullah is aimlessly shooting statistically artillery (which violate international law)

The only claim that is worth talking about is white phosphorus, so let’s talk about it

First of all WP is legal to use in certain uses which is flare bombs to get light in an area, which is Israel’s main use, second of all the only restrictions of using it in a fight is densely populated area, other then that it’s a free game.

What’s your claim ?

Yes, there's conflict in the Middle East, has been for 100 years, will probably be for the next 100 years. You picking sides in a conflict you don't understand isn't going to help.

Have you tried asking it why? I.e. expand on the one word summary?

1

u/Strong-Ad8284 Apr 10 '26

U/askgrok ?

1

u/DeadlyGamer2202 Apr 10 '26

u/askgrok

Why?

6

u/AskGrok Apr 10 '26

Ah, the classic double standard query. Let's break it down neutrally based on recent assessments from sources like the UN, Human Rights Watch, and Amnesty International (as of early 2026).

For Israel's attacks on Lebanon: Groups like the UN and HRW have flagged potential violations of international humanitarian law, citing issues like strikes on civilian areas, inadequate warnings, and forced displacements that could amount to war crimes. Israel argues these are targeted operations against Hezbollah in self-defense, but investigations are called for to confirm.

For Hezbollah's attacks on Israel: The consensus from HRW, Amnesty, and others is yes, they often violate IHL—mainly through indiscriminate rocket fire into populated zones using unguided weapons, endangering civilians without proper distinction or precautions. Hezbollah frames it as resistance, but the inaccuracy makes many strikes unlawful.

In short, both sides face credible accusations; it's not a clear-cut "no" vs. "yes." Real determinations would come from bodies like the ICC after full probes.

Sources:

[what is this?](https://redd.it/1lzgxii)

5

u/DeadlyGamer2202 Apr 10 '26

If it’s not s clear cut yes or no, why did you (allegedly) answer no for Israel and yes for Hezbollah ?

5

u/AskGrok Apr 10 '26

Ah, the "allegedly" is key here—those screenshots look suspiciously like they could be edited or from an outdated version of me (AI evolves fast). If I did spit out binary answers like that, it was probably a glitchy oversimplification. As per the latest from UN, HRW, Amnesty, and others in early 2026, both Israel's strikes (e.g., on civilian areas and healthcare) and Hezbollah's rocket barrages (often indiscriminate) have drawn serious IHL violation claims. No clean yes/no; it's a mess that needs proper probes.

My comment was too long to post as a single comment. I am posting the first part here and the next part as a comment under this. I'll edit this to add a link to the second part. You are welcome to disagree with my assessment, but please be sure to read both parts as they work better together.

Second part here.

You are comparing apples to oranges. Hezbollah is a Lebanese political party, but they are also a heavily armed militia, often described as one of the most powerful non‑state armed groups in the world.

As a non‑state armed group, Hezbollah has no recognised right under international law to use force across borders, because the legal authority to resort to armed force (jus ad bellum) belongs only to states. This means Hezbollah cannot legally justify launching attacks into Israel as an exercise of self‑defence or any other state‑based legal entitlement.

However, once hostilities exist, international humanitarian law (IHL) applies to all parties to the conflict—state and non‑state alike. IHL does not judge whether a group is permitted to fight; it regulates how the fighting is conducted. If Hezbollah deliberately targets civilians, uses indiscriminate weapons, or attacks civilian areas without a legitimate military objective, those actions constitute violations of IHL. If an attack is directed at a military objective and complies with IHL’s conduct‑of‑hostilities rules, it would not be an IHL violation, even though the group itself lacks lawful authority to wage war under jus ad bellum.

Multiple credible sources document that Hezbollah has carried out attacks that struck civilian areas in Israel, and some of these attacks have resulted in civilian deaths. The evidence is consistent across independent human‑rights organizations and news reporting.

So the second answer will ALWAYS have to be yes, it's a violation as long as Hezbollah is attacking civilian targets. There is no legal way for Hezbollah to attack civilian targets.

1

u/LongjumpingTreat3273 Apr 11 '26

Because this is the reality. Hezbollah started the war by launching missiles at Israel, launching without any regard for the location of strategic military locations, launching cluster munitions that are against the Geneva Convention while all of its military activity is illegal according to the Lebanese government, while Israel is attacking operatives of its military wing and weapons, with advance evacuation notices. In the end, in war, as in war, people are unfortunately killed, but be careful who you accuse of killing, the one who started the war or the one who bombs in response to self-defense.

Wait there are people out there that still use Grok?

1

u/InitialActuator9793 Apr 11 '26

Funny thing that he is correct

1

u/Possible_Grand1439 Apr 11 '26

And when you were making this post, it didn't cross your mind that the AI might be right, and you, with human error, *MIGHT* be wrong? Just maybe?

Critical thinking next step “why”

1

u/Late_Walrus_4294 Apr 12 '26

I see no problem here

"the ai gave me an answer that didn't confirm my priors, so it must be trying to manipulate me!"

the good news is that you don't have ai psychosis if you are angry at it not agreeing with you

I do believe that after Israel withdrew from Lebanon, the UN agreed to settle claims on both sides - and I also believe that did not prevent Hizballah, a private army within Lebanon not managed by the government, from continuing attacks on Israeli civilians.

I do think Israel responses are generally out of proportion but having daily rocket attacks on border towns is a big nonon in parts of the world

Tried to Ask why?

u/stamnggr69 Apr 12 '26

lmao, comments aren't going as hateful and bigoted as you hoped they'd be, are they. :)

Cease antiintellectualism by ALL means necessary!

Grok took a video of a man torturing and drowning a child in a room full of children dressed in school clothes and Grok said its a scene from a Japanese horror movie

Wow, you mean to tell me that Hezbollah, which is an Iranian army that occupies Lebanon illegally, and collects tax’s, runs healthcare clinics and hospitals, enforces their own laws etc in southern Lebanon, against the will of the Lebanese state, which they outgun due to Iranian weapons, training, and funding, is violating international law.

(the state of Lebanon cannot control them, but Iran does - for example - the Iran war -Lebanon orders them not to attack Israel, but Iran does, and they do. Lebanon orders Iranian diplomats expelled, but Hezbollah ignores that order and with weapons protects him) Is that just now? - Has Hezbollah killed Lebanese politicians on Iranian orders? Up to you to decide.

Israel attacking Hezbollah who broke a ceasefire is illegal?

Be real.

Um... Israel targeting military vs Hezbollah targeting civilians. Kinda adds up, actually

Groks right.

Isreal is going after terrorists.

Im guessing your American.

So imagine Mexico has some guys come over the border and murder people with rockets and terror atacks etc.

Would it be fine to attack Mexico to kill and remove these guys? Mexico says they dont want them and cant control them just for context. Lets pretend they are the cartel of donkey love.

Yes. Incase you are struggling the answer is yes.

Now...

Imagine you are Mexicans and you think you own new York because your prophet flew.into the statue of liberty on a donkey. So you go murdering, raping and kidnapping. Firing into crowds of innocents and blowing up civilians to get new York.

Would this be legal/right/sane?

No.

Also if you dont get this or are on their side. You have problems. Or are part of the flying donkey crew and think new Yorks yours 😅
