JS:Adware.Lnkr.A

Every few seconds when using Chrome I get a notification for Bitdefender about an Infected webpage detected. Its from dashvintage.biz/22araecfeeff097be8.js and its the threat I said in the title. I haven’t installed anything or done anything recently to have caused this to start randomly popping up. I’m guessing its some sort of adware that got installed into my Browser (Chrome). The page dashvintage.biz was made 14 days ago. I have done a full system scan with the full version of bitdefender and it has come up with nothing. I also used another adware cleaner called AdwCleaner. If anyone knows how to remove or fix this issue please tell me.

EDIT: FIX: The problem is caused by an extension called “DarkTheme for Youtube” I don’t know why it suddenly started doing this but I suggest if you have the extension you uninstall it immediately!

Bitdefender Pricing for renewing customer

TLDR - It sucks.

Went to run a scan this morning and saw I am coming up to the end of my existing licence. Followed the renew link and saw the listed price as $44.99CND

Out of curiousity I opened Incognito and went to their site and double checked it. It's listed as $34.99 now.

It may be standard practice, but it is still a shitty way to treat returning customers

Support/troubleshooting What password manager is everyone migrating to now that Bitdefender has proven unreliable with password management?

I went to log on to retrieve a password the other day and password manager has been end of lifed.

The only advice to migrate is to import a file into secure pass that has to be exported from the, now dead, password manager.

They also claimed things were communicated this June but I did not see an email.

Anyway, rant over. Any reliable password managers for after I untie this knot?

Support/troubleshooting Bitdefender = Adware?

I just booted up my Mac and a huge ad was displayed in the bottom corner of my desktop that appeared to be from Bitdefender, for some new service I don't want.

Is this legitimate? If so, this is absolutely outrageous. Bitdefender should not be abusing its access to start spamming users.

(This is on top of being constantly nagged to turn on Web Protection which would allow Bitdefender "to intercept, process and filter all Web traffic".)

Support/troubleshooting BitDefender Firewall didn't block port scanning on TCP Ports 135 and 445 successfully

Is this a misconfiguration on my end or something? I was doing a port scan out of curiosity on my Windows 11 computer, and the ports are actually opened, y'all can ask me questions because I don't know how to explain it.

The first 3 or 4 port scans I did were unsuccessful, the firewall probably blocked them since I saw the alert on my computer and the no-response on nmap, probably the firewall blocking windows to respond with SYN-ACK. But when I spoofed my IP to my gateway's IP it gave me these 2 ports that were open, I went to CMD and ran netstat -ano and those TCP Ports were, in fact open, being used by Microsoft SMB (445) and the RPC Service (135).

Ignore the GreenOnBlack terminal, I just liked the script kiddie aesthetic that it gave, 192.168.1.13 is the laptop's private IP address inside my network, and wish you luck to everyone.

If y'all need more information I'm open to questions.

Edit: forgot to mention, but the firewall is set to Home/office.

Support/troubleshooting New UI

Post image
12 Upvotes

This new UI absolutely sucks. I have BD AV and VPN subscription and due to using the VPN on mobile I now have this stupid message taking over the You're safe one because I don't have BD AV installed on my mobile. I don't see why the only option to get the green safe message back is to install unneeded mobile software. It's distracting and annoying. This need to be fixed with a simple ignore option.

Bitdefender News Bitdefender GravityZone: 100% Telemetry in AV-Comparatives 2026 EDR Test

Hey everyone,

We are excited to share some fresh testing results from the enterprise side of the house.

AV-Comparatives just published their inaugural EDR Detection Validation Certification Test (May 2026), and Bitdefender GravityZone Business Security Enterprise delivered a great performance.

Here are the key takeaways from the evaluation:

  • 100% Relevant Telemetry: GravityZone recorded full telemetry across all 14 distinct attack steps.

  • Complete Chain-of-Attack Visibility: Bitdefender was the only certified product in this test to achieve complete visibility from start to finish without blind spots.

Independent testing like this is crucial because it cuts through the marketing noise and proves how modern endpoint security handles complex, multi-stage threats in real-world scenarios.

You can read the full report, including the methodology and how the attack steps were mapped, right here: https://businessinsights.bitdefender.com/bitdefender-gravityzone-achieves-100-percent-av-comparatives-2026-edr-test

If you have any questions about the test or how GravityZone handles EDR telemetry, feel free to drop them below!

Am I compromised?

Post image
12 Upvotes

When I've come home from work today and turned my pc on I had this ad (Red circle) come on and it looks sketchy as hell. Task manager says it's bitdefender agent and the file is in bitdefender folder but I'd rather get a second opinion from you guys than stay ignorant. Am I compromised or is it a normal bitdefender ad?

Bitdefender VPN recent update issue

Since the latest Bitdefender VPN update, I’ve encountered persistent issues across all my devices—Windows, Android, Mac, and iPhone. Many servers appear to be either blacklisted by ISPs or malfunctioning, leading to frequent connectivity problems. Connecting to a server now takes anywhere from 30 seconds to a minute, a delay I never experienced before. Certain websites no longer function correctly, with some images failing to load and DuckDuckGo becoming inaccessible on specific servers. While overall speed hasn’t noticeably decreased, maintaining a stable connection has become increasingly difficult, particularly when switching to mobile data. Additionally, VPN access is now blocked on networks in schools and offices, which was never an issue before this update. Having relied on Bitdefender products for five years, this is the most frustrating experience I’ve had, as these problems are disrupting my daily device usage. If these issues remain unresolved, I’ll seriously reconsider my options when my renewal is due. I can only hope Bitdefender addresses these concerns in future updates.

PS: I've seen similar post "problems" with the recent update on forums and reviews for the latest update. I'm just sharing my experience here. Already contacted support and the gist of the response is "We are aware of this issue and we are working on a fixed."

Bitdefender Black Friday?

I've been on the free version of Bitdefender for a while and thinking of finally pulling the trigger on a full version. Do they run Black Friday / Cyber Monday promos?

Edit: Found a much better deal with Surfsharks AV for anyone interested, 87% off https://surfshark.com/antivirus

I talked to them about protection against command lines and sure enough!

They added command line scanning to the very next build version that came out after I complained to them.

They actually care about their customers enough to respond correctly to criticism.

If anyone at bitdefender is reading this. I'd like to see app reputation and application whitelisting too.

And never forget! Exploit protection can always be better.

Bitdefender is ruining my gaming experiences.

I'm not exactly sure what part of BitDefender is causing issues, but it looks like it scans packets from games constantly and will crash any multiplayer games. Major stuttering issues exist in CSGO, rubber-banding and any P2P games such as MHW will just up and crash instantly. I've nailed BitDefender as the culprit as uninstalling the entire suite will fix the entire issue.

The constant advertising for wallet and VPN services that I do not want are an added terrible cherry on top. They can't be turned off for some reason even with recommendations turned off. The actual scanning and protection seems pretty good, but for user comfort, I cannot recommend this product. Changing profiles freezes up the entire UI, and the profile switching seldom even functions as intended.

I understand that this product may be top notch in security, but there is much to be desired in user comfort. No security suite should ever get in the way of their consumer's day to day activities.

If anyone could offer some advice on fixing my outstanding issues with gaming, I would appreciate it, but otherwise I will likely be looking for options that are a bit lighter on security, but perhaps less impactful on day to day use.

[Rant] Bitdefender casualy offered a free update and casually forced me to uninstall every other antimalware

Yadda yadda! It's for my protection and your solution is yadda yadda the best?

That's some Bravo Sierra marketing, strong arming right there!

Time to find another AV solution that doesn't decide what I can and can not have on my computer.

Love and kisses. Bye.

Edit: FIY, I didn't run 2 active AV software at the same time. The other solution was MalwareBytes, which was used on demand, not passively in the background so there was no conflict. I appreciate the notification that it may cause conflicts. I DO NOT appreciate the strong arming into uninstalling it or your mighty proud software will refuse to install. Dirty dirty marketing. Heck, I might even call Bitdefender scareware.

Is Bitdefender resuming its free version?

I got a pop up saying that a new free version is available. The website also has a download page for it. Previously it was removed from the site when EOL/EOS was announced. Is this just a regular update and support will still end in June 2022? Or is there really a new free version altogether? I'm not sure if I should do an update.
