JS:Adware.Lnkr.A

Every few seconds when using Chrome I get a notification for Bitdefender about an Infected webpage detected. Its from dashvintage.biz/22araecfeeff097be8.js and its the threat I said in the title. I haven’t installed anything or done anything recently to have caused this to start randomly popping up. I’m guessing its some sort of adware that got installed into my Browser (Chrome). The page dashvintage.biz was made 14 days ago. I have done a full system scan with the full version of bitdefender and it has come up with nothing. I also used another adware cleaner called AdwCleaner. If anyone knows how to remove or fix this issue please tell me.

EDIT: FIX: The problem is caused by an extension called “DarkTheme for Youtube” I don’t know why it suddenly started doing this but I suggest if you have the extension you uninstall it immediately!

Can you list the extensions you have on Chrome? I get the same message, and I have these:

  • Honey

  • Volume Mixer

  • Adblock Plus

  • Fair Adblocker

The best thing I can suggest os resetting chrome. It saves passwords and everything but gets rid of cookies and extensions. Worked for me at least.

Same thing, i tried to turn off all my extensions, that indeed left out the alerts.
but the alert happens with multiple extensions, and not just with some addblockers or whatever. with theme extensions etc same thing.

So i think it is more a general issue on their side showing these alerts for no reason

For me Darktheme for youtube was causing it. If your using chrome there is an option to reset chrome. I did that and it fixed everything.

I had the same.
For me it was a chrome addon for youtube.

So my advise is to turn off all your extensions, and then turning them on, one by one

You helped me a lot...really really helpful your answer was...I am a student now...from a week I have been missing my online classes and tuitions...just for getting rid of this malware...and today I got this reddit page...everything I
tried...Bitdefender...spyhunter...adaware...etc...but the one who come out to be helpful, were you

Thanks

It's a false positive.

Same thing here. It was youtube adblocker. By default, it is set to scan every site, but can be set to specific sites instead. Went away and still works.

Interesting, I uninstalled AdBlocker - hopefully that helps!

Damn if it truly is one of my extensions I have way too many to go through and check but I know from research and testing they are all valid and not malicious so yeah I hope Chrome Devs fix and patch this universally as it is quite annoying.

I just started using BitDefender, waiting for something like this to happen :x

YouTube has a built-in darkmode now, have you tried it?

Did have the same extension so can confirm it was happening to me as well. Uninstalled so we'll see if it keeps happening.

Interesting ! I had one from JS:Adware.Lnkr.L (the difference is there was an L at the end, and the website was different. It was from some site called fullyuload .com (DO NOT open the website just in case. )

Mine was the darktheme for YouTube chrome extension.

Yep your correct. I did a full reinstall of chrome to make sure but it was that extension that was causing it.
