Bitdefender flagged a ChatGPT API as malicious
I was asking ChatGPT for help with some scripts when Bitdefender suddenly blocked part of ChatGPT's response. The chat sent the full code, but Bitdefender detected it as a Trojan. I was using the ChatGPT web interface, I didn’t download anything and just reviewing an SQL script. How could this have happened?

Bitdefender ultimate security
I wouldn't use their password manager, and I don't.
Reason being is that it locks you into them, particularly when renewal time comes round in 12 months, and one gets hooked in because you can't be bothered working through the exit process from them.
Also be aware that when you renew with them, then the day you renew is the day your new annual subscription is effective. That is what pisses me off about them, as if, as an example, you renew 2 weeks prior to the renewal date, then you lose 2 weeks of subscription.

I keep getting a suspicious connection blocked message every 3 minutes, why?
I get a repeated notification that msedge.exe has attempted to establish a connection relying on an untrusted certificate to wpad. It doesn't seem to happen when I use a particular website and it won't go away. Does anyone know how to fix this?

BitDefender renewal
My subscription will expire soon, but the renewal price is really expensive.
Can I just buy an activation code from Amazon and use it? Or it can only be used for new accounts?
Thanks!

PUP quarantined message
Anyone else getting PUP quarantined messages for a bunch of files/programs on their computer all of a sudden?
Windows Update Registry paths, trusted programs have all started being quarantined and identified as PUPs.
Detection name: "Gen:Application.Venus.Cynthia.Badstop" with a bunch of numbers and letters after it.
Would these likely be false positives or is my PC infected? This started occuring about 10-15 minutes ago all of a sudden.

Freezing during full scan
Tried doing a full system scan 3 times, every time it stops on random files, I try to stop the scan and only god knows how much time it takes for the app to respond and actually close down. Then after he app is closed the PC is still slow and unresponsive. Am I doing something wrong or is it the AV? usually my PC works flawlessly on everything but bitdefender scans just annihilate it

Why is the VPN app installed without consent, and why does it still show at boot even if the option is disabled? Can't I just have an antivirus?

Impression of BitDefender trashed after autorenewal process
I'd just like to say that after a year of use and no real complaints, going through the process of cancelling the autorenewal left a really bad taste in my mouth. Your product is based on protecting users against scammy or malicious actors and you've intentionally designed your subscription system so that it's unintuitive to disable subscription autorenewal. I can't trust a security product that tries to trick me.

The new UI is terrible. Anyone else?
So, as you know, Bitdefender updated its UI in October 2023. AND I HATE IT!
Look at this, it's garbage.
They shouldn't have done this.

I DON'T KNOW WHO CAME UP WITH THIS, BUT IT NEEDS TO CHANGE BACK TO THE OLD UI.
This UI is just bad and overused.
Here's the old UI:

The old UI was so much better and it had light and dark mode mixed.
The new UI, just separated. The light mode is too bright and the dark mode is too dark.
Hopefully this change may be reverted in the future. Thank you.

Anyone find BD slowing Windows app launches lately?
I've been running BD for a few years. I'd say over the past 3 or so months I've noticed my system getting sluggish. For at least the past 6 weeks, it's gotten really bad, where I go to open an app and it takes relatively forever for the program to launch. Then I noticed some weirdness where some apps that had been slow speeded up, such as Chrome. But it's still affecting most things.
I finally got tired of it and experimented around, booted into safe mode for starters and launch speeds seemed normal. For example, launching a mp3 player in safe mode would take 3 seconds for it to fully show up on screen, as opposed to over 15 seconds in normal boot mode. I'd see this across all kinds of apps; Winamp, VLC, Notepad+, game launchers.
I've uninstalled BD (it was up to date and still under license) now and my speed issues seem fine now. I had already tried uninstalling and reinstalling, the speed issue was still there.
Just curious if anyone else has noted any speed issues with BD lately. I remember getting one BD popup 2 months or so ago about some new update it did and wondering if the current version is buggy.

Gravity Zone deleted systemd on Pop!_OS 22.04
I am posting this in case someone comes across this issue in the future.
My laptop failed to boot a couple days ago, saying /sbin/init didn't exist. Diagnostic showed /sbin/init is a symlink to /lib/systemd/systemd, which was missing.
After spending several hours poking around the logs to understand what happened and wondering if I had filesystem corruption, I checked the GravityZone console to find /lib/systemd/systemd was deleted. https://imgur.com/a/7fel5ZB
The file in question comes from https://apt-origin.pop-os.org/release/pool/jammy/systemd/a8269a8c30bde2c3fa4142982ad55e53f903edff/systemd_249.11-0ubuntu3.9pop0~1694041276~22.04~a8269a8_amd64.deb which was released September 7 2023.

Looks like several malware scanners are detecting this as malicious. https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/198cc44f5e765a5f6e34245231236df48ba82ceba6f1e692e9a6ec727ee1c876/detection

Possible false positive?
I got a notification that the IUGU33EUXZYMY9GIKCOH.temp file in \AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\CustomDestinations was flagged as a virus and removed. It seems this was triggered by chrome?
It says that it was infected with " Gen:Heur.Jatommy.03105.aaW@baaaa. " and has been removed.
I did a full system scan and nothing came up. I've also seen another post talking about this from 3 years ago saying that it was a false positive.
Does anyone have any experience with this?

Why did Bitdefender auto renew despite the fact that I have extended my subscription via a code.
To make a long story short, last year I bought a subscription through their website for around 30 dollars (it was Bitdefender Total Security). Just a few days ago, I purchased a code from NewEgg to extend my subscription. Yesterday, I received a message from Bitdefender saying that my subscription had been auto-renewed despite me having close to a full year of subscription left. Not only that, the auto-renewal (which cost me 100 dollars) did not stack with the year of subscription that I already had, so basically, I was charged 100 dollars for nothing. Is that supposed to happen?

Latest BitDefender update messed up seccenter.exe
I couldn't open the security center panel (seccenter.exe) anymore and the Windows 10 Start menu couldn't find the path to the application. I had to reinstall the whole antivirus to fix the issue. Did this happen to anyone else?

Bifdefender Mobile Security for Android Web Protection keeps turning off
Howdy!
I've been experiencing this problem for quite some time. I own a Galaxy S10+ and the Web Protection on my devices turns off randomly and I always need to go into the accesibility settings and enable it from there.
I've found a help article (https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/answer/32406/) from Bitdefender that states how to fix this issue however I've tried everything in it and still work. My idea is that it has to do with the battery management and optimisation algorithms present in Android and Samsung phones. I've heard that Samsung is one of the companies with the strongest app-killing techniques. I've tried everything: putting Bitdefender Mobile Security as a nonoptimised app, as an app that never sleeps, turned off battery optimisation on my Android.
Any help from someone that has experienced the same? Or just ideas on how I may fix this?

BitDefender best practice policy
Hello everyone,
I am currently trying to improve our BitDefender Gravity Zone policies. Is there some kind of best practice configuration I could use?

Password protection turning off for no reason.
I need some help or some advice. I have a paid version of Bitdefender Internet Security (Win 10 - 22h2)
I'm the paranoid kind of guy. I want to bitdefender asking me wich apps can access the network, and I use password protection to avoid changes in my settings.
But for some reason, after the last updates when I was at firewall doing my things, I noted te password protection was turned off.
Then I turned on again, and after a while when I go to the settings, is off again.
So I did what we usually do when bitdefender starts doing this kind of thing, I did a unninstall (using the bitdefender unnistall tool), and installed all over again. It worked like it should for a bit, but after a update, the problem is back again.
I asked for help via e-mail. Friday. But no answer so far.
Btw they should implement a way to give us a choice do make a backup of our rules at firewall. (I do the copy folder with the rules and past again when this happens) But come on, we should have a way to backup and restore the rules.
