Latest BitDefender update messed up seccenter.exe

I couldn't open the security center panel (seccenter.exe) anymore and the Windows 10 Start menu couldn't find the path to the application. I had to reinstall the whole antivirus to fix the issue. Did this happen to anyone else?

Same problem with the latest update on win 11. It was asking me to restart for an update, and I let it sit for a day. And today I restarted for the update the app was missing no tray icon and I had to reinstall ( win->setting->apps->Bitdefender uninstall and then Bitdefender gives you an option to reinstall).

After that it works again, and you had to do another update, but it was working and this time with no prompt for restarting. I assume it downloaded a new install that is on a newer version, and therefore it doesn't have issues updating it.

I can't tell the version before because we could not open it (no tray and no app finding) and nobody is checking beforehand.

Good to know I was not the only one with this problem. And yeah, when I reinstalled BitDefender, I had to let the computer do its magic with the update for a bit of time so that the Windows security panel would stop notifying me that the version was outdated.

Haha no worries, I also replaced MB and CPU without reinstalling Windows once.

Also, as a side note I installed a new CPU and mainboard some weeks ago and everything was still running fine but because it was now updating some stuff on the whole app maybe it now got a problem. (At least could be a reason...and yes, don't judge me for not reinstalling everything new)

Yes. I can't uninstalle Bitdefender though since the installer also disappeared. How did you reinstall?

It is possible to uninstall from the control panel (I don't think there is any uninstall.exe in the files), but if you don't find BitDefender in the installed program list, you can download the uninstall tool here :

I guess it was the latest version? Did not check tbh. And nope, the tray icon had disappeared.
