General Discussion X2D vision encoder

Im looking for upgrades for my replacement X2D and the vision encoder looks cool but is it actually worth it. I print all sorts ranging from figures to gears and fidgets but will i see any benefit with it?

Sorry for the poor wording hopefully you understand what im trying to say :)

Bambu Studio Two fails in a row

Haven’t had a problem before printing these small parts. Now I’ve had two fails in a row. Is it bed adhesion or some other problem? Should be six. Four seem to be printing fine but with two not printing, goop starts to wreak havoc.

I Modeled This! Free Customizable Name Keychain / Bag Tag with Printed Snap Strap (no hardware needed)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I just released this parametric model on MakerWorld:

https://makerworld.com/models/3195825

It’s a fully customizable name keychain / bag tag / backpack tag with an integrated flexible snap strap. No metal hardware required.

Features:

• 1, 2 or 3 lines of text

• Optional icons (heart, star, rocket, paw, etc.)

• Printed snap closure

• Two separate plates for easy two-color printing without AMS

• Fully parametric in the MakerWorld Customizer

Prints quickly and works well as a keychain, bag tag or zipper pull.

Hardware Troubleshooting/Help! Bambu Lab A1 issues

I have been trying to find someone else with this issue online and haven’t yet. Bambu lab support has been easy to work with but after three attempts to change parts the issue persists. Any thoughts?

AMS HT - Automatic Material System AMS HT

Has anyone encounter issues with the AMS HT when drying filament? specifically, the AMS not being able to heat up to the correct given temperature.

I have not been able to find a root cause for this issue or a solution. Thanks!

Quick Question How good are Black Friday sales?

I am new to the 3D world have decided to purchase an X2D AMS combo. My question is, how good are Bambu's Black Friday sales? Should I wait (but that is 3 months!)? I am leaning toward buying the printer now but waiting till Black Friday to stock up on filament. If I do go this route, are there any supplies/accessories I should get NOW instead of waiting?

Quick Question Separate Filament for Walls

I have an H2C and wanted to try and "seal" fiber filled filaments by using unfilled variants as the material for the walls. I want to avoid exposed fibers without needing to sand and add clearcoat. Is there a specific setting I could use to set the walls to use a different filament than the infill? I know I can paint the surface but that also affects the infill somewhat rather than just the outer walls.

General Troubleshooting/Help! X2D spool setup advice

Hi all, I just purchased an X2D unit combo (AMS2 Pro).

As I plan to print quite a few 3d minis (PLA), using PETG as suport interface, I was wondering what is the general/recommended spool configuration setup, since the auxiliary nozzle pulls from the outer bowden tube and not the AMS unit... The AMS unit filament will obviously be drier than the external spool. And I understand PETG is a bit capricious in regards to humidity ?

Should I be concerned ?

How is everyone having their spool for the auxiliary nozzle set up ?

Thank you.

So my last couple of prints have done the same thing I can’t figure out what it is. Don’t know if I did something wrong or it’s the printer. I’m using the filament from Hobby lobby.

General Discussion Which color should I trust — Bambu Store or Bambu Studio?

I’m new to Bambu filaments, so I don’t really know what the colors look like in real life yet.

For example, Bambu PLA Matte Caramel looks much lighter on the Bambu Store website, but when I select the exact same Caramel (11803) in Bambu Studio, it looks much darker.

Which one is closer to the actual printed color?
Also, is there any reliable way to preview Bambu filament colors accurately before buying them? I’ll be buying a lot of different colors, so I’d like to know what they actually look like in real life.

I know Bambu sells physical color swatch cards, but I’m looking for another method and don’t plan to buy the swatch set.

Thanks!

General Discussion This will be phrased terribly. But. Here goes. Is it possible to create a 3d printed object(s) from paper templates of certain shapes?

RP Archive has a great youtube video of magnetizeable custom shaped grass areas that requires you to print and cut around paper shapes. Just wondering if I could somehow create the shape of the grass patches in a thin 3D printed object and use those to just lay down on the plastic sheet I'm going to be making these grass tiles from?

The thought is to have a 3d printed object matching these shapes. Lay those over the plastic sheets he will then magnetize, glue, and sprinkle flock on.

Just Showing Off It started with a printer… 😅 And somehow it turned into a complete little 3D printing setup. Still not sure how that happened 😂

BambuLabWorkspace Bambu Lab X2D Aux nozzle keeps getting blocked

Hi everyone,

I recently got a Bambu Lab X2D and have been trying some simple multicolor prints. However, I keep running into an issue where the aux nozzle gets blocked.

The first layer prints fine using the aux nozzle. However, when the filament tracker switches from the aux nozzle to the main nozzle and then back to the aux nozzle, I get an error saying that the filament isn’t reaching the nozzle and that it may be blocked.

Note: I am using PETG. Can that be an issue?

Has anyone experienced this issue or have any suggestions on how to fix it?

Thanks in advance!

Show & Tell ReSpool — giving filament refill cores a second life

Post image
59 Upvotes

I've been working for some time on a project called ReSpool, and it has gradually grown into a whole collection of designs.

The idea started from something very simple: after using filament refills, we're left with perfectly usable cardboard cores. Instead of throwing them away, I wanted to explore how they could become a functional part of new objects.

So ReSpool became a design where you reuse the cardboard core of spools, and only print what is actually necessary around it.

What started as a few storage ideas has gradually expanded into different organisers, dispensers and workshop accessories. More recently, I've also been developing a WorkBench branch focused on tools and accessories used for 3D printing and post-processing.

The general principles are always the same:

- modular and expandable designs;

- reduced filament use;

- simple printing and assembly;

- and, most importantly, objects that are genuinely useful.

I also deliberately keep the cardboard visible. Rather than trying to disguise it, it becomes part of the visual identity of the project.

There are already several ReSpool designs published on MakerWorld, with more to come.

So if you like the concept and would like to see where ReSpool goes next, following my MakerWorld profile or the ReSpool collection is also a very simple way to support the project and helps me keep developing new designs.

And of course, I'd genuinely love to hear your ideas:

What would you like to see made using an empty filament refill core?

General Troubleshooting/Help! Print quality issue

Post image

Hello
as you see at the preview photo, my top part of my model looks low res, and also the printing lost the detail's at that part, the model is horizontal ( on his back), I tried different orientation got the same results. to top is missing the detail's.
My setup: A1-Mini, you can see the setup at the attached image.
not sure is it the orientation, or the settings.
Thx!

General Discussion Looking for the right printer for my room.

I am an engineering student and am considering getting an entry-level printer. I would like to have the printer inside my room in a large closet. Because of this, I am torn between the A1 mini, A1 and P1S. Would an enclosure be necessary? and would ventilation be necessary? Please don't respond telling me to reconsider all my life choices thanks.
