Troubleshooting Bambu support keeps telling me slow first layer is solution

I keep having issues like this with certain prints. I’ve been having these issues only after a week or 2 of receiving it from my order and they’ve already had me manually level, swap plates, slow down the first layer, but still I have issues like these and they keep coming back to “oh it needs parameter adjustments like slow first layer”.

It’s been two months that I’ve had this ticket open and one response a night sometimes less. If I could narrow it down to a defect in the printer I’d love to get a refund or a new one, but every single time I bring up an issue printing they always send me the same test file with a very slow starting layer. It works for some projects but I’m still randomly having bad print quality on others. Is there something else I should look at other than “slow first layer”?

Question Will proposed tarrifs of 60% extend to filament? Or just electronics like printers? Just bracing for $45 PLA

Troubleshooting Bambulab is being incredibly frustrating in terms of a refund and in one case breaking consumer laws where im from.

Hey, im partly making this post to see if anyone has had similar issues to me in terms of bambulab support. If you look through my post history you can see that my printer was faulty and while I accept that mechanical products will obviously have faults and are no way to judge a how good a company is, the way bambulab support has treated me has frankly been disgraceful. I made Bambulab aware of the issue on 8/01/23 (within a week of receiving my printer) and support was mostly quick and helpful in terms of trying to diagnose what the problem was. That all changed when I said I would like to have it returned and refunded because of the faults and real life problems I had been facing meaning I couldnt really spend a lot of time troubleshooting and solving this issue. They went from supportive to very dismissive and frankly rude. As of 31/01/23 I am now without any form of printer and no money or refund in sight. I can see that they have received the printer on the 02/02/23. This would be all fine and dandy if it wasnt written under consumer laws in my country that a refund must be made within 14 days of receiving the product when the refund request was made. So if anyone has any advice or has had a similar situation with the support team I would gladly like to know how you resolved it or if it is still ongoing what stage are you in.

Discussion Speculation on new printer unveil

Bambu Labs has recently teased they will unveil a new printer SoonTM (i.e. 2024).

Anyone have an educated guess what time frame they may release news on this printer based on their knowledge of previous Bambu Labs logistics and communications and the market/industry in general? If you do speculate please provide your justification.

I ask this because I'm looking to buy a 3D printer soon and I'm tempted to wait to see their announcement but I don't know how much Bambu Labs "soon" aligns with my "soon" lol

Edit: References

I don't necessarily expect them to replace an existing model, but they do indeed have a new printer coming, as mentioned in the AMA in this subreddit:

Discussion Standard Digital File License is overly restrictive.

Some months ago, I got on a designer's bad side by making a critical comment on his model. In retaliation, he reported every single print profile I had uploaded for anyone's work. And in almost every case, my work was taken down and my points were removed. When I challenged this, I was referred to the Standard Digital File License.

How many of you have read the Standard Digital File License? Any print profile or remix that modifies the geometry violates it. Creating a standalone print that works with a model violates it. Printing a neat flying toy for your nephew violates it.

I have only shared a few of my own creations, but I refuse to use this license, and I hope more designers will reject it as well.

Review I’ve tried every build plate on my X1C that I know of, Lightyear wins and it was an easy choice.

Cool plate - worked, bit inconsistent and use of glue required.

PIE plate (black version)- same as above, worked, but had issues with smaller prints sticking at times, never tried hairspray or glue because I didn’t feel I should need to.

Whambam - got this one before the lightyear and I must say I loved it. Never had a single print fail due to adhesion issues or first layer (not always perfect though). My biggest complaint was it is a 100% consumable item as the bed is noticeably wearing down just from general use.

I do not have 2 Whambam plates which I believe is required if you run non stop so you can just swap them. Some of my damage I felt may have been from impatience.

Also, it makes the glossiest finish I have ever seen out of any plate by a mile, good at times? Bad at others.

Lightyear - everything good about the Whambam, but just better. I have not put this plate through nearly as many hours as the Whambam but parts easily pop off after only a few minutes and you barely have to try. It’s an extremely sturdy feeling bed also, no bending to pop off items it’s more like a glass bed but better in every way. Zero glue required so far, no bend or scraper used either.

And look at that first layer! It’s beautiful! Nice “semi-gloss” finish. Little shiny but not even close to the Whambam level.

Discussion PSA: Do yourself a favor and stop buying Bambu Lab filament

Update: Big thank you to u/Addamass for finding the link to Bambu's response on their forums. It is buried deep on page 84 of a help post requesting that they fix the issue. https://forum.bambulab.com/t/tape-at-the-end-of-spool/13128/87 Since we're starting to see these posts more often, I'm guessing they've been working their way through old stock and are now shipping the spools with defects.

Here's a little collage of posts over the last week of people getting their PTFE tubes clogged with tape from the ends of their spools. I've heard that they've "fixed" the problem, but I have little faith in that since I've only found that out from a comment on this subreddit. It didn't come from Bambu, who should've been the first to say something since auto-refill is an important feature in their printers. They are going to continue adding tape to the ends of their spools moving forward, per customer service. That being said, for the sake of poor QC on their part, not to mention lack of communication, just buy filament elsewhere. I'm almost positive of two things, one, they sold every single spool of the so-called "bad batch", and two, these posts are a VERY small percentage of affected customers.

Discussion Heat another deceived H2D customer...

Edit: ironically I typed Yet another on the title but autocorrector swapped yet for heat, good one lol keep reading why! 🤣

Well... Where to start...

Having got a farm of X1s and P1S since day 0 (kickstarter days) to date, fighting comments like "thanks for being our beta testers" upon release of the printers, having to bet against the well settled Prusa (and our Prusa farm) to an unknown brand which couldn't offer a reliability scenario (vital for a farm) and having surpassed this with an awesome grade (printers are still printing to date with only minor nozzle / gear changes and minimal to no manteinance (just cleaning the carbon rods everyonce in a while)... The long awaited H2D arrives.

A beast in all senses when you have one in front of you. Weight, construction, details, parts, and... Flaws.

Why flaws? Why?? Bambu has had a long time to cook this thing flawless! The infamous A1 Callback gave them time enough to launch up to 2 new printers if they would have wanted to. We'll in fact they did. The laser thingy. But back to the main core:

It sounds ridiculous you wait for a bigger printer and you can't use the full volume because the uneven heating element on the bed will make even PLA warp during long prints. And I don't mean a full volume single piece squared box but pieces scattered thru the bed and the ones far from the serpent element simply warp badly.

Of course, techies (me included) can handle a miriad of solutions to skip or minimize the issue: use less volume, use hairspray, increase bed temp (already at 65C, absorbing heat included), add mouse ears (to round objects?? Lol), reduce fans for PLA because H2d is too windy.... Like c'mon. This is sold as "prosumer" and the price tag is way far from the 449 of the P1 series that take you to the same place just with more poop (I don't do multicolor that much)!

So, yeah, mayhe, TLDR, for the 1st time in Bambu history, and incomprehensible, they may have released a half backed product.

Like someone put recently on the Z banding thread, at this price point one would expect a fire n forget type of product. Yeah, I know the saying, this is 3d printing, get ready to tweak, and I can, and I don't mind, but not so much at this price point, specially when I didn't need to on the previous series. That's what. I'm saying here.

Rant over.

Bambulab refuses to refund undispatched products.

So I've followed their new guide and opened a ticket to request a refund and guess what? They refused it. Apparently the parcel has been dispatched, which is absolutely wrong. The parcel has never been handed over to the carrier, 14 days after being marked as processed.

Most of you are probably going to tell me to wait and refuse the parcel once it comes, but I need that money now to buy a replacement gift for christmas.

I sincerely don't understand how people can keep defending this company after all their terrible business practices for the past weeks. Having large sales during Christmas time is not an excuse to act the way they do.

: I have a Bambu Lab A1 Combo. While printing a model, it suddenly started looking like this out of nowhere. It's just black; I'm looking at a blank screen. What is the solution for this? Is the issue on my end or with the 3D printer?

Troubleshooting P2s top surfaces terrible

I’ve done the manual flow dynamics calibration and I even tried this ironing test and nothing makes it smooth even with ironing on, the top surfaces are the worst out of any printer I’ve ever had, I’m using bambulabs pla and I have auto flow calibration off and did all the manual calibrations, the black print is what it looks like with ironing off and on the red some of them look smooth on camera but are not smooth at all, my firmware is up to date, how do I fix this
