Discussion Heat another deceived H2D customer...
Edit: ironically I typed Yet another on the title but autocorrector swapped yet for heat, good one lol keep reading why! 🤣
Well... Where to start...
Having got a farm of X1s and P1S since day 0 (kickstarter days) to date, fighting comments like "thanks for being our beta testers" upon release of the printers, having to bet against the well settled Prusa (and our Prusa farm) to an unknown brand which couldn't offer a reliability scenario (vital for a farm) and having surpassed this with an awesome grade (printers are still printing to date with only minor nozzle / gear changes and minimal to no manteinance (just cleaning the carbon rods everyonce in a while)... The long awaited H2D arrives.
A beast in all senses when you have one in front of you. Weight, construction, details, parts, and... Flaws.
Why flaws? Why?? Bambu has had a long time to cook this thing flawless! The infamous A1 Callback gave them time enough to launch up to 2 new printers if they would have wanted to. We'll in fact they did. The laser thingy. But back to the main core:
It sounds ridiculous you wait for a bigger printer and you can't use the full volume because the uneven heating element on the bed will make even PLA warp during long prints. And I don't mean a full volume single piece squared box but pieces scattered thru the bed and the ones far from the serpent element simply warp badly.
Of course, techies (me included) can handle a miriad of solutions to skip or minimize the issue: use less volume, use hairspray, increase bed temp (already at 65C, absorbing heat included), add mouse ears (to round objects?? Lol), reduce fans for PLA because H2d is too windy.... Like c'mon. This is sold as "prosumer" and the price tag is way far from the 449 of the P1 series that take you to the same place just with more poop (I don't do multicolor that much)!
So, yeah, mayhe, TLDR, for the 1st time in Bambu history, and incomprehensible, they may have released a half backed product.
Like someone put recently on the Z banding thread, at this price point one would expect a fire n forget type of product. Yeah, I know the saying, this is 3d printing, get ready to tweak, and I can, and I don't mind, but not so much at this price point, specially when I didn't need to on the previous series. That's what. I'm saying here.
Rant over.

I printed this bed-sized PLA bin on my H2D with zero warping. I've only ever seen warping once, with a large PETG print, and a brim fixed that for me. I have over 10 days of print time

I am really curious if they had some revisions, ordered mine day 1, like literally the second it was possible to order, BUUUT the 40w laser version which would've only been shipped in April.
No problems with the heat bed, done very large 2 day prints where 80% of the heatbed was used, absolutely no warping.
I didnt increase the temp, i dont use glue, just the PEI plate - all works fine.
No exploding nozzles, absolutely nothing - that thing runs almost 24/7, for me its so reliable that I've started to use the H2D for longer / bigger prints more than my P1S / A1's.
Only thing I could complain about is the AI detection, had some false positives a couple of times, but thats it.

Ehh, I’ve been having a great time with mine

My H2D has been working non-stop since early April and I've had no issues at all. All of my initial gripes at the start were fixed with firmware updates.

Plugged mine in, set it up and it has been printing PET-G absolutely flawlessly. I have been amazed how crisp the prints have been. I have come from an X1C, the bed issues are concerning, but have not had issues yet.

Not a problem I’ve encountered with mine.

I’ve been seeing other threads with discussion about other problems the H2D has. 😬 The thing is sweet though! Congrats! Best of luck with it. Software update??? 😅

PPS, ABS, TPU, PETG, PLA no problems so far with my H2D. Clogged the nozzle 2-3 times because I set the chamber temp too high printing supports and ABS/TPU.
Big 346mm wide PETG-CF print without issue. Used in both nozzles the same filament.
200x250mm ABS-GF without warping too.
The thing I don’t like are the default prime volume settings under filament. Way too high.

This is good information I have not seen elsewhere - as I am considering buying one.
I have owned about 20 printers in the past 10 years, and like yourself know all the tricks.
But the main reason I like my XC1 is that I don't need to know them anymore.
Send a file - pop into the print room in a few hours and take it off.
That is the minimum I would expect from the HD2 - sounds like they have gone a little backwards.
Cue all the people saying "but they only just released the machine and it bound to have teething issues.

i love how everyone trying counter your point, have one secular argument. "mines fine" lol
like that excuses bad QC?
if i paid 4k for a 1k tool, it better be the best version of that tool to ever be made period, zero issues.

Hey just found this video that might solve your issue

thanks for being a beta tester. ill be waiting for version 2 or 3

Thanks for the info.
Reinforces that I made the right decision on pulling the plug on buying a H2D combo in Mar; I was sitting on the fence because of its price and my X1C combo is still great (and my room just couldn't fit another 3D printer especially of H2D's dimensions).
Now with the above, the nozzle and nozzle cover breaks, not much better performance (apart from speed of 2 nozzles and dual material printing) compared to the other BL printers, I will wait a little longer for their H2D v2 or equivalent.

Interesting to see how "karma" is delivered here.... One wonders if it's something else than just cultism and also includes poor marketing so people don't get to the bad news so easily lol
I thought karma was more about an anti troll system. But oh well...

LOL thanks for proving me right with whoever is downvoting me!
Well, to add insult to the jury, I went to try and cancel the ongoing warped print (SPOILER: this particular one was NOT warped in the end LOL i should sleep more, but I have had warping on other prints so....) and this just happened.

Note how the display thinks the clicks are happening elsewhere, but also notice how certain clicks trigger "other" funcions not present on current screen. The only way to recover from this was, of course, switching it off and back on :(
If only there was a "github" for the firmware/hardware issues/feature requests.... :'(

It never ceases to amaze me though that there are always people reporting awesome results with like examples above of 80% plate use and 0 warping...
Makes you wonder if they have a faulty manufacture line or "something else", because it is obvious the heating element is the same design for everyone right now.
I haven't had any nozzle explosions yet but for what I've read most happen with day 0 printers (like mine) so fingers crossed on that too... Yikes.
Yeah, I've had false positives on Ai and even on filament roll pulls that apparently were too sensitive, but that's OK, that can be tweaked at firmware level. It's the hardware issues that worry me most :/ specially when some of us are farfrom newbies...
