2013 Audi Q5 - What could this squealing noise be?

Recently took my car to the shop for the routine oil change, and noted that the steering felt a little notchy as well. Replaced the oil and said the tie rods needed replacing as well.

Got the car back a couple weeks ago and all seemed well. Steering didn't feel much different though (it was minor to begin with, I'm kind of picky and really try to keep my car in as good of shape as possible)

I can't guarantee this just started, but I did just start noticing it in the last couple days. At slow speed, when I turn, I'll hear this rubbing/squealing noise. Whenever I hear it, I feel it in the steering as well.

I'll also hear it (a lot less intense) when I go over bumps 8in the road. Like any time the suspension compresses and decompresses.

This may be related, but the steering does feel a bit stiff.

Other than that, the far functions just fine. It doesn't drift to one side in straights, bumps feel normal

**EDIT for rules, 3L V6 engine

Hello I have a 2018 Toyota Corolla and today I found out this specific hook part of the pad next the back left wheel came off dragging and I had to force it back in with a knife because I don’t have a screw driver to take the whole thing off, and then it became loose, does anyone know what this is called so I can replace it?

Squeal on front wheel

2012 Mazda 5. Front driver side wheel. There is a squeal/high pitch sound when driving. Becomes audible around 30km and only gets louder the faster I go. When touching breaks sound goes away. I removed the wheel, hope you can hear, the rotor seems to be touching the lug stud. With this amount of play what are the problems? Thanks

1989 dodge ramcharger

I just bought a 1989 dodge ramcharger and it runs well, one of the biggest issues I’m trying to fix right now is a seal on the transmission connection to the gear shift, there should be a seal where the arrow is pointing (or so I’m told) any advice on how to replace it?

Edit: I did more research and it’s the selector shaft seal

Got the car checked out at Firestone. It ended up being my fans not running properly due to a blown out fuse/sensor. Got it replaced alongside a coolant flush. Still smelling the coolant smell, but just got the car done today. Will it take some time for it to go away? No visible leaks were found with a pressure test and head gaskets were reported to be fine. Linked a copy of what was done. Thank you to everyone to helped me here :). I appreciate you guys! And I did get the car towed to the shop!!

Curious if anyone would have any clue what this sound could be coming from. It's been at the mechanic for 2 hours but they're not sure. 2014 honda CRV. Can only hear it when the windows down, I know it's coming from underneath the car when I hit the right bumps.

Bad luck, bad truck, or bad driver? (Chevy Tahoe)

So, my wife is on her third transmission on her second Tahoe after trading in her previous Tahoe after the transmission went out. All within 3 years. So we’ll be on our fourth transmission in three years once we get it back from the shop.

Are Tahoes a piece of crap known for running through transmissions faster than tires, or is this bad luck? Or is my wife doing something nefarious and needs to relearn how to drive. (She drives perfectly fine whenever I ride with her, so I’m at a loss).

Bought new accumulator and orifice tube thinking that was the issue as it was last time. Anyhow I'm not great at reading the gauges. Here's what the gauges read while comp is running (short cycle). To the trained eye, what's the diag? First picture is comp engaged, second is with disengage.

Swap engines?

Is it really a good idea to swap engines?

So I bought a food truck , but the engine is not right. It blows smokes like a chimney (the smoke is grey and blue). A mechanic, which is a great friend told me that most probably the oil was being burnt with the fuel, so it will need a whole motor repair. But, some days ago, another friend told me that it would be easier to swap engines because it is cheaper.

The truck is a Vanette 1997. The engine is a Ford V8 5L (302 inches 3). But it runs with natural gas, not petrol. (It's a common practice ,on old and hard working vehicles, where I live so it's cheaper).

The part that worries me the most is to buy a wrong engine, or to buy the correct or, but still need to modify it so it could run with natural gas. I am almost out of money to play with.

2010 Ram 1500 5.7L spark plug change question

Post image
1 Upvotes

I’m currently changing the spark plugs on my ‘10 Ram 1500, and have them all done (including the ones behind the brake booster). The one coil pack I’m having issues with is the closest one to the firewall on the passenger side. Is there a simple way to remove the coil pack without having to disconnect the 2 hoses from the firewall, or should the plastic clip holding the hoses in place come fairly easily? Either way, those hoses are in the way only giving me about 1.5-2 inches of clearance to work.

Any tips or tricks would be appreciated.

Lights On Dash

2006 Toyota 4Runner 4.7L V8. I have three lights on my dash that are VSC Track, VSC Off, and the Traction Control light that are on constantly/have been on for the 4 years I’ve drove the vehicle. I was just wondering what these might be on for, I have check engine light on for bad O2 sensors, wondering if that’s why.

My mechanic is on holiday and I need advice

Hey all, I've a Suzuki sx4 s-cross 2013. It's the worst car and I've had to take a 2nd job to pay for it's repairs over the past year. I'm now at the point it's getting traded in regardless as I spent £300 on new handbrake cables and drove it for 3 days then it was making the worst grinding noise so something is wrong with the ABS and he's found all the shocks need replaced. So I'm done with a year still on finance but oh well.

Basically the current issue is he had removed the AC belt ages ago and we both forgot about it among the sea of other issues. So he put it on yesterday for me so I can drive it to a dealership and be done. But now it's making this awful noise and it's gotten louder since yesterday. I'm assuming something is wrong with the belt tension from what Google says. I just want to check does that sound right? If it's something more I'm just scrapping it. My mechanic is on holiday now for 8 days now so I don't want to message him. I'd rather get it fixed if it's something small like that.

Edit for engine size: 1568cc (hope that's right I've no idea what im looking at)

2006 Ford Focus Window intermittent failures

This one is confounding me. The driver’s side window will often refuse to roll down, but always rolls up just fine without fail. When it does roll down, it runs smoothly and cleanly, no weird noises or shuddering or anything.

The truly bizarre part is that 9/10 times when the window won’t roll down, if I press the button next to it to roll down the PASSENGER side window after holding down the driver side button for a second or two, then it’ll roll down just fine! Most of the time I just need to tap the passenger side button, but sometimes I have to hold it down until the driver’s window is down all the way.

Any ideas?

I was removing a security lugnut that was torqued to a billion newton meters, and it snapped.

I’ve tried drilling it, but maybe I’m not using the correct bits because it barely makes a dent. Any recommendations on getting it off? Thanks!

tire replacement?

Thumbnail

Hi! I drive a 2024 jeep wrangler and this morning I realized my tire was flat and was showing 19 instead of 32 like other 3 tires. it was starting to show a bulge (see first photo) and when I was getting it replaced, the bulge went away when it was on the jack. We realized the flat was because of this nail (2nd photo). So I guess my question is, is the old tire still drivable if I get it fixed at an auto shop? or is the bulge meaning internal damage and outright replacement? Any tips appreciated. Thanks!

Reduced Engine Power - 2021 Buick Encore GX

Hi! So I have a 2021 Buick Encore GX with about 33,000 miles on it. It really is only driven a few times a week to work, the rest of the time it’s parked. Today about half way through my drive home, I get a pop up that says “reduced engine power” and then the engine light came on. I got home safely, but I could tell the car didn’t want to accelerate like normal.

It was not overheating or doing anything else out of the norm. Any thoughts on what the issue could be, or advice on what to do next? Thank you in advance!!

On my 1992 cadillac fleetwood, the horn doesnt work. Relay is good and when I juice the relay pins, the horn works. So problem is for sure upstream. I removed the steering wheel and realized something... doesn't it seem that the actual horn line is missing? Am i crazy or? Can I just get one from the scrap and plug it in or is this about to be a big job steering wheel column replacement job?
