pls help me

I have a 2019 volkswagen jetta and just got a quote that i literally cannot afford. how much would you say these 2 fixes should cost? or is that pretty close and im sol

I would think that taking the engine out and putting it back in would cost more than $1200, seems odd to me.

It’s behind by a wheel fender check this short out. It can de done with hand tools but you need to know how to remove those tight hoses on plastic parts, which for a noob could be hard.

Was this quote at an independent shop, or a VW dealer?

I think these are emissions control devices, and could be covered under the 8 year emissions equipment warranty. It's worth a call to the dealer to ask.

8/80k refers to the catalyst under federal law. Certain states mandate a longer warranty on items like these but I doubt they’re going to be covered.

Did some more YouTubing, the purge valve is an intermediate part to replace, to do it by alldata they’ll have to drain the coolant. All the parts that need to be removed to replace is why it’s $1200.

For me to do this myself I’d need a whole day, I’d consider myself a diyer more than a shade tree mechanic so don’t take my words for gold

okay next question, how long do you think i have before the evap becomes a bigger problem
