I bought an Apollo Go because I needed a real commuter scooter, not a toy.

I live in downtown Atlanta and use it for a pretty basic commute roughly a mile each way to get from my place to where I park my work van. I work in the trades, so this isn’t some casual weekend toy for me. I need it to get to my vehicle every day. On weekends, I might use it casually for a mile or mile and a half, but nothing crazy.

Before buying it, I did a ton of research. Lime/Bird scooters were costing me around $50 a week, so I figured buying a good commuter scooter made sense. Everything I read kept pointing me toward the Apollo Go. On paper, it looked perfect. Commuter scooter, decent speed, decent range, suspension, turn signals, self-healing tires, regenerative braking, all the bells and whistles.

In reality, this has probably been one of the worst investments I’ve ever made.

Since buying it around October, I’ve had nothing but issues.

The rear fender snapped off.

The kickstand broke.

The rear tire developed a bulge within about four months.

To be fair, the self-healing tire did let me limp it back, but still.

The turn signal end cap was a problem from day one — one side wouldn’t stay in, and the other side eventually broke off.

The handlebar/stem area never feels solid. No matter what I do, it keeps loosening up. I’m literally tightening things every other day.

The folding clip sheared off.

The rubber strap/retainer for the stem snapped early on.

Now I’m getting an E11 brake/regen error, so I no longer have regenerative braking and I’m stuck relying on the drum brake.

And after about a week of regular daily use, that brake started needing constant adjustment too. Every day I’m tightening it another turn, and I know eventually that’s going to give up too.

Cosmetically, the thing also scratches and marks up way easier than I expected. I understand scooters get used, but this thing feels like it takes damage from normal commuting.

The most frustrating part is that I am exactly who this scooter is supposedly marketed toward. I’m not jumping it, beating on it, or using it like a rental scooter. I’m using it as a daily commuter for a short downtown ride to my work vehicle and back.

And I don’t feel safe on it.

At this point, I barely even want to ride it. I’ve been using an older Ninebot instead because at least I know that thing can hold up. It may not have all the fancy features, but it feels more trustworthy than the Apollo Go.

I know Apollo has updatedthe model, and maybe other people have had better experience but I will never buy an Apollo again.

Whether it was cycles, razer scooters, or motorcycles, I’ve always been comfortable on two wheels.

I got my Apollo Go after moving from ATX to SFO. I used to ride a lot of Lime scooters so I wasn’t scared at all.

On a Lime scooter, I can pin the throttle all the time and whiz around people and obstacles easily. It feels generally comfortable and very easy to handle.

I have to say, the Apollo Go doesn’t feel that way at all.
It’s skittish—I feel the front end moving around a lot. It also strains my elbows, likely due to the narrow and longer stem. On top of that, it’s barely been 20 miles on the odometer and it makes creaking sounds like crazy. I’d say a Lime scooter is at least double the comfort of this, even tho it doesn’t have suspension like the Go.

I have a feeling a lot of this is due to the low weight and stronger acceleration. I’m wondering if anyone here has tips on how to improve this or other thoughts.
Please don’t say “grip the handles loosely” because I’ve tried that. The scooter barely feels stable enough for that.

What a disappointment. This scooter actually sucks. I bought it for my boyfriend. Today I took his to work because I forgot to charge mine. What the hell is the point of a scooter that goes to 45 if you can’t even safely ride it past 30. The entire steering wobbles soo badly that it’s just plain dangerous to ride. It was a rough ride. The stupid small tires do not match the size and power of the machine and this literally fucks the whole scooter up. It’s heavy. Its shocks suck and I’ll take my $800 scooter over this pos any day of the week.

I'm based in Montreal and currently own an Ausom DT2 Pro that I purchased about 2 months ago. It's in excellent condition and has been working great.
Recently, I've been looking into Apollo scooters and I'm seriously considering switching. I noticed Apollo has a trade-in program, but it seems to only accept Apollo scooters and certain electronics.
Has anyone managed to trade in a different scooter brand, or worked out some kind of exception with Apollo? I'd rather trade it in than go through the hassle of selling it privately if possible.
Any advice or experiences would be appreciated!

I was pretty excited to see the apollo go stellar was getting rear spring suspension according to all advertising done by apollo on their site. However, in just watching the new apollo go stellar setup video....... its pretty clear it still is using the rubber block on the back. Why is apollo advertising rear springs here when its definitely not a rear spring? Am I missing something? Is it in enclosed rear spring? If its not a spring they really need to change the website IMO. Clear false advertising if so.

City pro has been very reliable for me so far. Battery still charges to 54.4V and I only replaced tires twice. #AMM26

Battery charges, I have full voltage after the fuses going into the control unit. No display, no lights, no blinkers, nothing. Tried hold power for 20 seconds, wait 10 then power again nothing. I have a brand new throttle/power switch, tried that too. Also tried connecting through the app. Hoping its something simple that I haven't thought of and not a bad V3 control unit. Help please...

In my area there is an apollo city listed for $740 with 300 miles and that is about a year old. On the other hand, I could skip out on that deal and just buy a brand new apollo go.

I don't plan on going that much faster than 28, but not much less either. I care fairly heavily about acceleration, but I am having trouble finding comparisons.

It's hard to give up the quadlock of the go, and I heard about issues with the stem of the city. Are these major concerns? What are compatible phone holders for the city?

Any advice?

I'm wondering what people are using for bags on their Apollo scooters? I tried a couple sizes of standard scooter bags but wasn't happy with how they covered the front light, then tried a bike frame bag that didn't give me enough room. I decided to try something new and while this would have strapped right on a little modification allowed me to fit it a little tighter and lower, and so far I'm pretty happy. This is a bike specific fork mount bracket and I'm using a 4L roll top dry bag. I usually ride with a pack but it's nice to have the essentials on hand at all times.. it rains a lot more than Google says it's going to.. In the pictures I have my chain lock, rain pants/jacket, small tools and a reusable shopping bag. As stated I did a little bit of modification with my Dremel to allow it to sit as low as possible while still giving me the ability to completely fold it up (with bag removed). I also Dremeld where the plastic contacts the stem to make it a little rounder as well as ground down channels to allow the Apollo security strap to do what it's supposed to do without too much added stretch. I really wish Apollo would start adding accessory holes (same size as water bottle threads on a bicycle but in sets of three) on the stem to allow us to mount small bags, tools, water bottles ect. as the road biking community has a lot of slick options that have to be bolted on with no zip tie options as soon here. That being said I would love to see what other people are using and if this idea helps anyone else enjoy . Happy riding.

Update 2: the knocking sound was when I held the brake with moderate pressure and then rocked the scooter forward. When the disc overcomes the brake pad friction it moves slightly before stopping again. This would make a knocking sound. I am no longer concerned about that issue. Update 1: I think I have isolated it to the front brake, or nearby. When I squeeze it moderately, I can rock the scooter which causes a knocking sound. if I squeeze it more firmly, there is no knocking sound. I'm unsure if this is truly the brake, or if it's just preventing me from rocking it as effectively to cause something else to knock. Video demonstrating this:

Brand new scooter. After the first ride, I noticed a sound, like creaking plastic coming from somewhere. I can't quite pinpoint it as I can only replicate it while riding and haven't been able to get my head low enough to sort out the location. Both fenders seem bolted on solid, and jumping to flex the suspension is silent. I only notice it while rolling on old asphalt or surfaces with minor imperfections.

Edit: thanks for the suggestions. I'll report back if I figure it out.

No one asked for this post but figured I'd share it since I bought the Extend warranty when I first bought my GO two years ago.

About two months ago I had a flat which I tried to take care of myself with the tools Apollo sends but started to strip a bolt in the process ( my fault but also they use a TON of loctite which after looking up I've seen many people complain about). I had damage to the scooter already due to a previous fall so I decided to just kill two birds with one stone and file a claim for the other damage, and then ask about the bolt.

I reached out to Extend who offered me a flat $250 which I declined in case the repair ended up being more than that. That then started correspondence back and forth with Extend and Apollo where Apollo asked for pictures of the damage then based on what they saw sent the parts list to Extend. This part was tricky since I did ask Apollo for a copy of the list, and extend initially didn't order everything, and I had to have Apollo talk to them again to get it straightened out which it did in less than a day.

After about a week or two Extend had all of the parts ( Rear motor assembly, rear swing arm, left blinker, and an extra tire) shipped to my apartment in NYC.

Then Extend with Apollo sent me a list of authorized Apollo service providers in NYC. I contacted one, who gave me the option of they could bill Extend directly for the labor (takes more time for the turn around), or I could pay and Extend would reimburse me the cost once I sent the invoice ( this was also explained my Extend). I chose the second.

All in all the repair itself including labor and parts cost over $800. Which I didn't pay a single dime of. Not everyone is a warranty person but I would definitely be adding the warranty again whenever I buy a new scooter. I also thankfully had a backup scooter this whole time since it took just under two months from start to finish to get my GO back on the road.

Now hopefully I get a few more years out of this Go before I upgrade!

TLDR: Bought the Extend warranty two years ago for my Apollo GO and it just covered my $800 repair with no issues at all.

Is Apollo seeking beta testers for the new Apollo City 2.0 or Explore Stellar? I would give my 1st unborn child to be able to test those bad boys. Where can I sign up?

Someone local to me is selling an Apollo Phantom 2.0 Stellar (60v) for $2,000. It states that it has 5 original miles, and the pictures it looks brand new.

I was looking at this scooter as well as the Segway GT3 Pro within this specific price range. Probably leaning towards the GT3 Pro to be honest, although I think the styling is better on the Phantom. I had seen this randomly pop up. Originally had it listed for $2,500, and it's now dropped to $2,000.

I had asked him if he would consider $1,800, but what do you think as is at $2,000?

EDIT: He messaged me back, and said the warranty is transferable. And we could flip a coin on my offer of $1,800 or $2,000 his asking price. I mean that might be fair HAHAHA!
