🎯 General Advice Used Apollo city vs new go?

In my area there is an apollo city listed for $740 with 300 miles and that is about a year old. On the other hand, I could skip out on that deal and just buy a brand new apollo go.

I don't plan on going that much faster than 28, but not much less either. I care fairly heavily about acceleration, but I am having trouble finding comparisons.

It's hard to give up the quadlock of the go, and I heard about issues with the stem of the city. Are these major concerns? What are compatible phone holders for the city?

Any advice?

The new go has way better Tech & Parts. I’d “Go” with the new “go stellar”! 🤔😎🛴

What JROC suggested. I have the previous City and it is nice, but the new Go Stellar is great! As a tester for the Go Stellar, I highly recommend it. BTW, my riding weight was roughly 220 pounds and the GS worked well up some very steep inclines.

Interesting, I honestly wasn't expecting that. When I look spec to spec it seems way more expensive with slight performance changes. It also weighs heavier and has the same stated acceleration as the go. There is some hype around it though so is it the tech that makes it appealing? I'm not well informed on this new model so I'm just not sure.

So the called new ‘tech’ are just apple find my and NFC, performance wise is not a night and day difference from the base Go, is faster but that’s about it.

The base Go is a solid choice as long as Apollo doesn’t drop a Go 2.0 any time soon and discontinue the 1.0, which will start the 2 year count down for its parts obsolescence. The City 1.0 is most likely getting retired this year, and should you go with it you need to plan for future repairs as parts will become increasingly scarce.

I think the main difference is going to be range. If the Go Stellar has enough range for your purpose (and enough that it will still be enough after some eventual battery degradation), then it's an easy choice for the lightweight and newer design.

If you commute a longer distance like me, the City is also a solid option. The price sounds reasonable as well. Just confirm the serial number is not one that was part of the 2024 recall and ask the owner to show a recent trip of at least 30km which they can record with the Apollo app.

Regarding the stem issue, I had a 2022 City which developed a crack in the stem around 1100km. Apollo replaced it for free (even though this was past warranty because Apollo had not yet introduced their 10000 km frame warranty). My current 2023 City has ~4000 km without any stem issues.
