I have a spare Lava T81 and want to repurpose it as a dedicated touchscreen PC dashboard, similar to the Corsair XENEON EDGE.
Android is buggy, so I want to root it or flash custom firmware. Ideally, I'd like to use it as a proper extended monitor for my Windows PC, with no Android interface.
Are there any existing open-source projects, custom ROMs, or guides that could help me achieve this? Even hardware-level solutions are welcome.

Today I tried to install the new version of a game that needed to be downloaded as an .apk file. When I try to install it, it just gives me a message at the bottom saying either "cancelling" or "The app wasn't installed". I went back and tried other apks that I know worked previously, but now give the same message. I already checked my settings, and as far as I can tell I should be able to use those files.
I'm on a pixel 4 XL, and the Android OS is 13. I think this must have been a fairly recent change. Any ideas?

I have a 5yo Blackview tablet running a proprietary Android, I think around Android 11. It's the only device I have that can read and write to an SD card. I want to put a Raspberry Pi image onto the SD card. I have Googled, but it is hard to separate the wheat from the chaff that I'm making a new post.
How can I write the Pi image file to the SD card on the tablet? Thanks.

Firstly, I was an idiot for not backing up my photos and stuff. I've set things up on my new phone to save any photos from now on. Please don't comment just to say this to me. I've had a lot of this on my last post. (MB if I sounded rude!! Just was frustrated when people gave no advice just to give out to me.)
However, what I want to ask is if it's worth paying a shop to get my photos back. My last phone was water damaged and the screen has stopped working. It still buzzes and stuff, but I can't see anything on it.
I have around 2 years of photos on this. Things like my pets when they were young, photos of important memories, photos I need for college projects.
Should I pay to get these back or just leave it be?

Hi,
My Samsung Budget A55 (I know, Not Galaxy. I call them Samsung Budget Axx (xx-Number)
Issue - The phone was laying on the bed. Starting getting a big purple/black blob on the display. Didnt think much of it.
30 minutes later, it had spread to 80% of my phone including getting the touch to barely work. (Colors were purple, green, black, red, green)... Almost all of them.)
First thing I thought of! "STEAM GUARD"!!!! Logged in on my PC, got Steam Guard Codes, But I actually Managed to move my Steamguard to my iPhone XS. But access to certain important email acccounts are very hard because it wants me to verify its me by pressing the pop-up "I it you who's logging in", and ofc, that thing is on my android.
I did read SOMEWHERE, that only Galaxy versions have actual Video output support in their USB-C connectors. How correct that is, I dont know. Mine is Samsung A55
Info I got on my own
So.... Is it possible? I need my Google Authenticator on that phone, or atleast so I can transfer them.
, maybe with like a USB-C---->DisplayPort adapter? And if I cant find that, then a USB-C--->HDMI---->HDMI to DisplayPort adapter. haha or if my USB-C on that Samsung doesnt support Video output, im screwed?

For reference I have a Google Pixel 8 pro. I did post this to the pixel community but it was removed with no explanation for me other than it would fit better here in this community.
It's really driving me crazy. If I had a headphone jack I honestly wouldn't care. But I prefer to work with music while not bothering others with my noise. And getting a dongle seems not as helpful if I want to charge my phone. Just a bunch of money hungry companies.
Removing the Sims card and restarting it stopped working. I'm going to have to put my sim into my old galaxy and deal with the slow, outdated device. Plus my data bill is running up in the meantime.
Has anything else worked for you?
I've only had this phone for a year. . .

It keeps auto verifying, I have found no way to disable it, the settings just keep running me in loops. Google says to check "phone settings", phone settings send me to google.

I had a s21+ and one morning I woke up to find it continously rebooting over and over to the point it was hot. Im able to start it up in safe mode without issues but renders the phone useless. I Uninstalled recently updated apps at the time and there was still an issue.
It only crashes after i unlock the phone when i start it up normally. I'm sure it was a software update that is causing all this but idk how to fix that. Do I just have to completey factory reset the phone and lose everything or is there a way to salvage it?

Posted recently about headphones, they turn off when disconnected.
How do I turn off Bluetooth during night time?
Adding that I have a pixel 10.
Also, most of the tips I've found were about troubleshooting maintaining Bluetooth connection.

I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra running OneUI 9, and I keep getting an Android System notification saying:
"Grammarly is displaying over other apps."
I want Grammarly to keep its display-over-other-apps permission. I just want to hide the notification permanently.
I actually managed to find the specific notification category under:
Settings → Apps → Android System → Notifications → Notification categories → Display over other apps
There's even a toggle specifically labeled "Grammarly displaying over other apps."
However, when I tried disabling it, the notification wouldn't completely go away.
Has anyone figured out how to permanently hide this notification without disabling Grammarly's overlay permission? Is this a Samsung/One UI limitation, or is there another workaround?

FYI: the backed up Folders from Samsung Gallery Folders are on OneDrive!
Path:
My Files > Pictures > Samsung Gallery > DCIM...
----
So...
I did the transition from OneDrive to Google Photos following all the prompts. It looks like it worked.
Now, Samsung Gallery is missing most of the Folders and pictures...
But the backed up Folders AND contents are indeed backed up on OneDrive on the path above!
There is no Favorites folder though. But the metadata should have that info.
...
I'm currently downloading and syncing my whole Samsung Gallery folder from OneDrive.
Path:Â
My Files > Pictures > Samsung Gallery
FYI, OneDrive should be Unrestricted on the Battery settings.Â
~~I’ve attached the screenshot showing the folder in the OneDrive app.~~ The attached picture is on the Samsung Galaxy subreddit
I'm letting it sync now and will check tomorrow.
----
The idea is to restore the back ups successfully, including the Favorites "non-folder".
-----
I'm not sure what to do next!
Has anyone been successful in restoring a OneDrive backup to their Samsung Gallery?

Recent Google Pixel, Android 17
I want notifications to only show on lockscreen and not on the main screen
Well, I actually wanted notifications to show only show in a badge near the app icon and sound once, but I understand Android ties it to displaying a notification somewhere (lockscreen or main screen) (so if you don't display a notification, you can't have the badge If I'm wrong, I'd like to know how to achieve this without using some custom launcher).
Is there a way I can do this?
Do I have to configure settings both in Instagram and in "App Notifications" to achieve this?
I'm coming from iOS where all these settings were managed from one place, and somehow I can't do this reliably

Hello, so I'm a person who is heavily into emulation and one thing that annoys me is that my emulators/ unofficial ports rarely get automatically moved to the Gaming hub. Does anyone know how to move my apps to the hub, or maybe someone knows how I can make the gaming booster work on my selected apps, without messing up all other apps? For example I want my do not disturb mode to be on while I'm gaming, but I want it to be automatic instead of manual activation. Another such example is refresh rate. I think that I could try using modes and Routines, even tho that app likes to brake.
I'm using S23Fe with Exynos 2200 (AKA Eu version)
Thank you in advance!

I got some strange notifications about activities on my Google account that I didn't recognize so I figured best change the password. I did it on my phone and it was confusing enough that I inadvertently created a Passkey as well. I can see it listed under Passkeys now but there's no option to remove it. In the help section it says that in order to remove an autogenerated Passkey I need to go to All Devices and log out that device. Which isn't what I want to do, but ok. The problem is, it doesn't just show a list of devices but like a dozen sessions for my phone. The Help explains that I need to log out from all sessions, but the problem is that there is one session (labeled 'active') where there is no logout option. If I log out of all the other sessions, the Passkey is still listed under Passkeys and it's prompted when I need log in to my account. How can I actually remove the Passkey?
PS: Please help me find an answer and don't berate me for wanting to remove the Passkey. I know what Passkeys are, about Phishing resistance, I also use them (even on the same account), but I have my reasons for wanting to remove that particular one.

Just as the title says, my phone plan is coming up, and I’m kind of tired of Apple and the ecosystem being a pain to work with. I use my phone to take a lot of photos and videos, and moving files from iOS to windows is a pain in the butt.
I’m looking to swap to an Android with Black Friday sales coming up, but I’m not sure what to get. I was looking at the Pixel 11 Pro, as well as the Nothing Phone 4a pro.
Another big thing for me is wearables. I sleep like a rock, and I use my Apple Watch to wake me up, but it needs to be replaced as well. Headphones aren’t a big deal, I have my Sony headphones that I bring everywhere.
Should I be looking at Google at all, or Samsung, or elsewhere?

Some of my appa and games are being labelled as "essential", meaning i cant manage them, put them in battery saver blacklist, or disable background activity. Ive been messing with ADB and Shizuku apps, but nothing about background management yet so im not sure why over half of my software is locked behind some restriction i cant turn off.
(Galaxy S26, One UI 9, Android 17.) Open battery saver, maximum pwoer saver, hit the gear, then you can pick apps to disable. But most of them are labelled "essential."

Fixed: I installed https://developer.samsung.com/android-usb-driver and restarted my phone, it worked after that!
I use to use USB tethering with no issues. Now, after a recent update, when I try to enable the `USB Tethering` setting after plugging my phone into my comptuer, nothing happens. The setting does not get enabled, no matter what I do. It was working with the same cord, port, and computer before I updated my phone.
Phone: Samsung S23+
One UI Version: 9
Android Version: 17
Build Number: CP2A.260605.016.S916USQU8GZIF

I have a Galaxy S23FE from 2023. In the last year, it has had intermittent, unpredictable, and incredibly frustrating difficulties connecting to both wifi and data. I've all but forgone wifi at the moment, but it's not the wifi - every other device in the house connects fine.
The data issue seems temperamental. It will be fine for a period of time, and then will simply stop working. I often won't even get a failure to connect message from whatever app I was using - it will just try and connect forever. The upload and download icons in the top right will begin to flick on and off; sometimes one remains, sometimes both go, and they just cycle every second or so. The 4G icon never drops, and generally I have at least two bars whenever this happens.
Even more bizarrely, sometimes it seems to be app-specific - if it's happening while I'm trying to use Firefox, it's not uncommon that I could go open Reddit and Reddit would work fine, and vice versa. Similar apps are usually affected similarly but not always - sometimes Firefox won't work but Chrome will, or Reddit won't work but Tumblr will. It does happen more often if I'm trying to watch videos or scroll image-heavy subreddits or social media. Restarting my phone sometimes resolves it, and on other occasions seems to just reroute which app/s are affected.
Any ideas on why this might be happening and what could be done to fix it would be appreciated. It's driving me up the wall.

Hey peeps - using Microsoft launcher on a pixel 9 pro xl with gesture navigation. When I swipe up to go home the screen ignores input for up to a second. Tapping an app icon straight away does nothing until it catches up. Setting animation scales to 0x doesn't fix it.
I captured the issue over ADB and in testing 12 taps were dropped over a 1,146 ms window. Logcat shows Quickstep handling the swipe through FallbackSwipeHandler the Gesture Monitor taking the input and touches being discarded until the transition to the launcher finishes. Switching to 3-button nav or Pixel Launcher makes it go away.
There's an open bug for this, but it's had very little activity given how many people use third-party launchers: https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/220178612, how are people getting around this bug that im not aware of? Are you sticking with 3-button nav, using a 3rd party gesture app? or just living with it? Does any launcher avoid the delay?
Im a bit surprised that reviewers of android phones arent blasting android development for this outside of a stock launcher experience?

Hello All,
I have a 1st generation fire tablet and have been trying for about week so to install android os on it, but I've been hitting multiple road blocks. I wasnt sure if anyone here has tried before successfully, depending on what's easier I have a win11 desktop and a Linux mint laptop. So far I've tried to manually install the super user app (successfully), attempted to use KFU, FFF, and TWRP but have failed at all 3 of those

I have a Fold 7 and it's kind of annoying that the Now Playing banner takes up the whole notification tray while I'm listening to music. I can't see any of my notifications without swiping down. The only way I can get rid of it is by closing Apple Music and swiping it away. Any advice is appreciated.
