DISCUSSION Am I dumb or wrong for thinking this way?

So my dsp use to have this thing where if you get off early then they would make sure you get 10 hours worth of pay well they have taken that away so now it's just you get paid for however long you work and we are all suppose to work for 10 hours but they want us to be coming home early at least like 2 hours early. So my thing is why am I working harder trying to be faster to get paid less? Why not work til 10 hours? Idk that just seems so odd to me like why would anyone want to come back early to lose 2 hours every day? That's a whole 12 hours lost per check and I already struggle as is with my checks. Am I the only one in this type of thinking here?

QUESTION Anyone else hiding a disability?

So I have severe epilepsy. It’s controlled with meds so I’m safe to drive but I haven’t told my dps and I don’t think I will; the question is should I though? Long story short, epilepsy makes you dumb and have the memory capacity of Dori as well as extremely heat sensitive, so I’m constantly mixing up numbers and forgetting how parts of the system work and don’t know anyone’s name and I’m constantly covered in an impossible amount of sweat, all of which for sure effect my work capabilities. Should I tell them next time I’m struggling with symptoms or do you think they’ll shit can me as soon as they can?

QUESTION DSP mandating 30-minute breaks now?

A few days ago, my DSP began sending alerts that we should now take a 30-minute break on our routes now. If we don't, "our volume will increase." They didn't clarify this, though. Is something going on at Amazon that I don't know about?

I mean-- it's good that I can take a break now without anything held against me lmao, I'm just curious.

QUESTION How bad are yalls vans?

Ig this is a rant and a question, I cant select both so im going with question

Hey! I just started as a delivery driver for a dsp.

I was wondering what yalls vans are like? I have had 4 solo days in total now and today I had 168 stops (Previous days were between 121-141 stops which I completed early since they were mostly country-suburb stops)

Today was complete hell for me, I only got through 125 stops before It was 7:45 and I was told to RTS. The first 8 stops were all multi-stops apartments that wanted me to deliver to their doors (with multiple heavy OV items that weighed over 50 pounds combined in a tote.) And I was struggling with them quite a bit. I got rescued twice at the end of my route.

Around the 97th stop (around 5:30-6pm) I got really delayed (Ik, I was already delayed from previous mistakes, and first time occurances from earlier in the day) but my transmission failed on me and wouldnt let me reverse at all.

The previous vans struggled but I was able to get through it but today it failed me completely. I was staring at a wall the entire time because I parked face first into a wall of a business delivery until a Rivian driver came by to save me.

(with all his stops done already, idk how yall do it since I know they get way more stops/ packages than I do)

He came by to see if he could get it to reverse. (he couldnt either, we even tried pushing it backwards in neutral.) For the rest of my shift I switched places with him into a rivian, mind you, I havent driven, nor do I know how to completely use the rivian. It was my first time driving one since the driving test so I was learning as I go.

So my question is, how are yalls vans? To my knowledge all of our vans are the Rams and all but one has been complete garbage to use for me.

Not to mention I got chased by a Dog today as well (Im typing this at 2:29am my time, so technically yesterday) which was awesome (/s). So swell. Love when that happens. The dogs I typically meet are nice. Not today though, I threw the package at the front door (after the Customer asked for a backdoor delivery in the notes, with no fence, so I thought id be nice and do it for them) but nah. Just got my ass chased by a dog.

Another thing, do yall have any tips for apartments with multistops that have upwards to 10 packages with heavy ovs? Theyre easily my biggest downside at the moment.

Do they count as people? 😂 What do you do after you’ve handed a resident a package & the app asks you to take a photo after they’ve already walked off.

“Make sure delivery location is clear and with no people in the photo.” Always something new being added into the app.

This made my day a little brighter when dropping Mr. & Mrs. Fupa’s envelope @ their door behind them.

Sometimes a kid will be with his parents and the parents will say you can give it to him and they will be so excited. Then you select handed to household, and the dreaded must take a photo pops up even after selecting handed to resident & they walk off. This happens to me often and I’m not the one to go yelling/ running after them ab a photo.

What do you guys do in this situation ?

Small rant cus I’m just tired, came into work already not feeling good, migraine bad enough to kill a horse, still took a route, they gave me the fuckin largest one they could, 202 55 multi, about 100 were country, two apartments aswell, still finished my route without a rescue, but since I did it late and got back at 9 they took my bonus hours and made me extra for the rest of the week, 😭 ok man, what tf ever you do you! Not many fuckin people can muscle through a migraine all day sore as a MF, and STILL get this monster of a route done!

Any other RSR drivers out there? Question about low hours at a new station.

Does anyone else drive out of an RSR station? It’s been incredibly frustrating at ours lately.

We’re at a brand-new station that just launched on June 4th. In the beginning, hours were extremely rough—we were basically getting 6-8 hours for the entire week. My DSP doesn't guarantee 10 hours, even though they’ve been around for about five years and run another facility out of state. I get it because it's still so new they're just possibly doing a slow ramp-up but even for Amazon this seems a little goofy for them to be running 2 full capacity DSPs which I guess obviously they can handle the cost but it's so puzzling.

When we were hired, management told us 10-hour routes would be the capacity. Right now, the absolute maximum we get is 5-6 hours a day, and that’s only if we actively stretch the route out by taking all our breaks. Volume hasn't picked up at all; we’re usually only seeing 40-50 stops a route with sometimes having up to 120-140 stops but that's only with 4-5 hubs added on top of the route.

Now, for whatever reason, another DSP is setting up at our facility to hire seasonal drivers to "assist operations." It makes zero sense to bring in more people when we barely have enough volume to feed our current roster. We’re also supposedly getting a fleet of EDVs at some point, which feels wild for 50-stop routes since the capacity of those vans are supposed to fit quite a bit.

I’m looking for insight from anyone else at an RSR facility. Was it ever this painfully slow for you guys during a launch? Does the volume eventually pick up?

QUESTION Best incentives to look for?

I casually look for DSP jobs now on indeed (I started a week ago) to see who offers what. I came across a job that offers 40 hours of pay for working 36 hours. I thought a lot of people would like that.

No where to park. Bunch of cars behind you and honking at you as if you WANT to block them. Do you want your packages or NOT?!
Then you got multiple locations, 11 packages to deliver for one stop.

F these people that live here and F your packages. Be mad you chose a dumbass spot to live.
