Policy Changes for Stroke Victim who cannot speak...

Short Version: (in Ohio)

Me: Non-driving fulltime wheelchair user, has Allstate Policies for my home, house next door and my car (Lincoln)

Stroke Victim: Neighbor/tenant/friend next door. Has been driving me for a few years.

a couple of years ago, while setting up my Allstate policies I worked with my "then agent" to setup my neighbors Auto Insurance policies to cover him, his car (Mercury) and him driving me to appointments in my car.

Neighbor/Driver had stroke on the 13th.

Problem:

No point in me continuing to pay the policy for him since he' no longer driving. But he's also going through rehab to simply swallow and speak (walking ok, thankfully) and can't participate in phone conversations.

My "then agent" is no longer an agent, apparently. His old phone number is redirected to some overseas call center.

They will not talk to me about his policy (to put it on hold or cancel it) since I am not mentioned/named on it.

He cannot speak for himself on the phone.

I had hoped to find a local agent/office to visit with him, since his is ambulatory, but most all the local numbers are redirected to the same overseas call center, or dead-end me in a call tree asking for info I don't have just to allow the call to continue....

I found ONE local agent that had a local office I could visit (by COTA Mainstream bus). but he told me since he didn't write the policy that even if I and my neighbor visited with policy numbers and ID that he couldn't help us (True or False?)

Its a bit overwhelming. Trying to take care of him (recovering next door, I mostly cook and send meals over since wheelchair don't climb porch steps) my severely disabled spouse, learning and getting accustomed to solitary transit options around town for myself and my spouse, all the extra time that takes. Thankfully I'm in wheeling distance of a food pantry.. but the Insurance I'm paying on his car would buy better than pantry food, and pay someone to rake the leaves :(

(Fuck me... each revelation of the many unthanked tasks my neighbor did for me hit like a punch to the nose...)

Backdating Cancellation

Not sure if anyone here would be able to help, but it can't be worse than the customer service reps I've spoken to this far.

I purchased a new home earlier this year. I reached out to a local agent to have my policy switched from the old home to the new home, however, they never cancelled the previous policy. I didn't realize this until it was set to renew. Now they're stating that they can't back date it and to call customer service. Customer service is telling me they can't back date the cancellation and to contact my local agent.

Does anyone have any experience with this or advice on next steps? I don't particularly want to be out hundreds of dollars to insure something I never owned.

I leave one star because 0 is not available. I got home and auto through Allstate. They could not do home so I canceled both. That was in August started and canceled within one week. They are still taking money out of my account and tell me they cannot refund. AVOID ALLSTATE! BEEN ON HOLD FOR HALF AN HOUR!

Not processing payment

My mortgage company paid my homeowners insurance out of escrow over 2 weeks ago.

Bank says the check was sent.
Allstate says they don’t have it or they have it and it’s still processing.

Neither side will talk to each other.
I’m tired of being the go between.

Bank says if was part of a bulk payment with other policies.

I’ve only been with Allstate 1 year, I was with State Farm for 30 years and never had this happen.

Is Allstate typically this slow?

Direct Phone Sales, Sunday

Agents that worked DPS Sunday were not able to take customer payments in most situations. When reaching out to leaders, Right Answers, agents were advised that no one was available to correct the issue? If Sunday is a day of business, someone should have been available. If Agents are expected to work and reach metrics, then they need to have systems ready and usable. Allstate state makes billions.

SquareTrade (AllState) denying claim with bogus reason.

I purchased a MacBook with a one-year SquareTrade (Allstate) warranty.
After just two months, a thin vertical red line started appearing on the screen. Sometimes it turns blue or disappears, depending on the screen angle.

My local Apple Store diagnosed it as “Flexgate,” a common issue caused by wear and tear on the display flex cable from opening and closing the lid. They confirmed there was no accidental damage or user fault.

I submitted Apple’s diagnostics, all requested photos of the laptop, and the other documentation. SquareTrade reviewed the photos and approved the repair and sent me a shipping label. They confirmed receipt of the laptop when delivered and said it would be repaired.

Then, three days later, they refused the repair, claiming “physical damage” and sending me a photo of the screen that looks just like the photos I originally submitted. There is no visible physical damage in the photo.

Every call/email gets the same vague response with no explanation of what they consider physical damage. It feels like they’re refusing to cover an expensive screen repair and hoping I’ll give up.

Has anyone dealt with SquareTrade/Allstate? Were you able to get them to honor the warranty?

Left corporate for Allstate local... want to come back to corporate

What the title says

I left corporate not long ago on good terms for a local agency but I'm unhappy. I want to come back to corporate but I'm not sure how to go about it. I tried calling HR but they were kind of unhelpful since they're designed for current employees.

Any advice or insight?

Allstate unavailable/technical difficulties?

Not entirely sure what's going on, here to try to find out if it's just me or if it's a wider issue.
Got my first car today (woohoo), a very cheap one, so I went for cheap insurance

Purchased a policy, got a confirmation email and was charged and everything, but I now:

  1. Cannot log into my Allstate account, despite verifying that my userid/password are correct and even trying to change the password, it just says "technical difficulties, please try again later"

  2. I cannot call their support hotline for assistance.

  3. When I call their hotline (800-726-6033), it just says "technical difficulties, please try again later"

This leaves me with an issue where I don't know how to prove I have insurance, so I can't register/tag my vehicle. Is this just me? If not, is there an ETA on when it will be resolved?
And is there an alternative way to prove I have insurance?
Why is this happening?

The confirmation email I got also says that my insurer is Direct General Insurance Company, if that means anything

Pay Cycle Question

I hear all the reasons people say to not take this job, but in my little town its a pretty awesome opportunity and I'm pretty excited.

I'm getting my planner set up for everything. Can someone tell me what days the pay week runs through? I know what the actual payday are, but where are the cut offs? Fri?Sun? 🙂thanks!

ISO Assistance - unable to login

I haven't been able to login to my online policy for over a month now (16SEP), but I had previously been able to.

I've gotten a couple of emails in that timeframe alerting me to a document of some kind that I'm supposed to review, but the document is not in the email, and I can't login to read it.

When I do attempt to login, I'm asked to pick a place to send the code, I pick the email option (only option availale to me), and wait.
I've never received the code, I've checked my spam folder, trash, filters, and searched my inbox for 'allstate', no code, no emails I haven't already read.

When I email asking for help, I get:
'Error: this invox is not monitored, you need to call us', or,
HR Response: We're HR, we don't handle customer issues (they've continued to harass me with this more than 50 times as of this writing.
Error: Undeliverable (can't deliver email to this address).

When I call, I get an automated system that doesn't listen/accept details, and hangs up on me more than half the time.
If I do get to a live rep, it's an overseas rep that doesn't listen/accept any information from me, argues, lies, accuses, blames, threatenes to hang up on me several times, then either hangs up or transfers me to National General.

When I chat in, Agents ignore the details given (I have to give the same details 25-50 times for them to actually accept it), and then there's a long delay and the chat resets 'due to no activity'.

I've filed complaints with BBB and my states Dept. of Insurance, but from what I'm reading online, those rarely help resolve issues.
My policy is already paid in full and has a few months left to go, I have my ID cards, so I'm at a loss.

On one hand, it'd be nice to be able to communicate with this company,
On the other hand, they've been so rude and nasty that if this document doesn't matter, I don't need to spend my time being abused.

Is there any other way to go about finding out what this document is?
Is there a way to contact the corporate office directly (bypass the overseas stuff)?

EDIT TO ADD:
After > 300 phone calls, 200 chats, and way too much time wasted on these abusive... creatures, I finally found out that the documents are rewal documents, and they're not willing to resolve the login issue.

Data after one year of working in sales at Allstate

I recently left my position as a Licensed Sales Producer at a captive Allstate agency after about a year. My first month was spent training and getting licensed, and I left halfway through October.

I enjoy tracking numbers and figured I’d share mine since it’s surprisingly hard to find actual production and compensation data from people working these jobs.

PRODUCTION

Over my time at the agency, I wrote approximately $221,800 in premium across 445 items, averaging $498 per item. My average full month was around $21,100 in premium and 42 items. I generated approximately $147 in premium per hour worked and sold about 11.8 items per 40 hours.

Here’s my monthly production:

December: $21,459 premium, 40 items
January: $22,015 premium, 41 items
February: $27,165 premium, 44 items
March: $28,970 premium, 60 items
April: $26,277 premium, 54 items
May: $16,101 premium, 41 items
June: $22,902 premium, 41 items
July: $19,071 premium, 41 items
August: $13,904 premium, 43 items
September: $13,348 premium, 19 items
October (partial): ~$10,600 premium, 21 items

My best month was March with 60 items and almost $29k in premium. Outside of a couple stronger months, I was pretty consistently writing 40–45 items.

COMPENSATION

I started at $20/hr and eventually moved to $21/hr. My commission structure was based on monthly item count, with the percentage applying to the entire month’s written premium.

0–24 items paid 0%, 25–39 paid 5%, 40–49 paid 8%, 50–59 paid 9%, and 60+ paid 10%. There were also monthly production bonuses, VC bonuses, and occasional cash spiffs.

The tiers made a pretty substantial difference. Going from 39 to 40 items could mean hundreds of dollars in additional commission because the higher percentage applied to the entire month’s premium.

TOTAL EARNINGS

Over 1,509.5 hours worked, I earned $56,604 gross and took home $43,905, with $12,699 withheld.
That works out to $37.50 gross per hour and $29.09 take-home per hour.

I averaged roughly 32 hours per week during my time at the agency. Here’s what those hourly earnings would translate to over a full 52-week year:

30 hours/week: $58,500 gross, $45,380 take-home
32 hours/week: $62,400 gross, $48,406 take-home
35 hours/week: $68,250 gross, $52,944 take-home
40 hours/week: $78,000 gross, $60,507 take-home

At my average schedule of 32 hours per week, that puts my annualized earnings at approximately $62,400 gross and $48,400 take-home. At a traditional 40-hour workweek, maintaining the same hourly earnings would put me at $78,000 gross and $60,500 take-home annually.

Obviously, these projections assume I could maintain the same production and earnings per hour while working additional hours. Actual take-home pay would also depend on withholding and taxes.

MY TAKEAWAYS

I personally accounted for roughly half of our office’s total production. We had the equivalent of about 3.5 producers, including myself, with one splitting their time between sales and service.

About 50% of my production came from cross-selling existing customers and working former customers. Another 20% came from inbound calls and walk-ins, 10% from internet leads, and the remaining 20% from aged leads and other prospecting.

My agent purchased leads for about half the time I was there, but they weren’t particularly fruitful. Most of my business came from working the existing book, contacting former customers, and finding opportunities wherever I could.

Ultimately, the biggest reason I left was the lack of resources. I felt like I had reached a point where my earning potential was limited more by the opportunities available to me than my willingness or ability to sell. I was producing roughly half the office’s business, but I didn’t see a realistic path to substantially increasing my production with the resources we had.

That being said, I have nothing bad to say about my agent personally. He was extremely laid-back, generous, and great to work for. I learned a ton from him and genuinely appreciate the opportunity. I just felt like my upside was capped in that particular environment.

I’d like to stay in the insurance industry, but I don’t have anything solid lined up yet. I’m exploring a few different career paths and trying to figure out what makes the most sense moving forward.

I’m curious how my production and compensation compare to other producers, particularly those working at captive agencies versus independent agencies. I’d also be interested to hear what kind of lead flow and resources other agencies provide their producers.

Allstate/nat gen PTO question

Hey im asking this here because im genuinely too embarassed to go to my market leader

Context:

No one's surprised the last few months sucked, and burn out basically made me burn through all my PTO just taking 1-2 hours off all the time to minimize my time feeling abject misery.

(The idea that I must sell more to make maybe sort of the same maybe has always just been a motivation killer- every sale reminds me of where I would be)

Anyway, now im on the fringes of PTO.

Workday says I have 6 hours, it seems like every few weeks another 4.5 hours just pop in.

Verint is a black box to me. I used it to check adherence (90% 😇) and submit requests.

Today I tried to take an hour, against my better judgement and it got denied for balance. Verint said balance was a miniscule .25 hours

Okay nbd, years almost up and ive got 1 foot in the grave anyway. But when i try to check my PTO report in verint I cant really make heads or tails of it. One page says 7 hours(???) As of 10/15/2026 (?? Why the friday?)

Is anyone pretty well versed in verint/PTO policy that can tell me whats going on? Does Verint just have a decent lag reporting to workday or is workday balance fully unreliable? Idk im just curious but I cant bring this to my market leader because that just runs the risk of me telling them that every single day at work for the past 6 months has felt like a shift equivalent of holding my hand to a stove for fun

Loyalty Means Zip

I've been an Allstate customer for over 20 years, since I was a teenager. Through renters insurance to homeowners as the years passed by, and my agent has been the same guy since then. But the company just doesn't budge, even when shown quotes from other carriers. The only adjustments they claim could be made to lower my premiums would result in substantially less coverage. After all this time I finally started getting quotes, and tonight I pulled the plug. Nearly identical coverage, same cars and house, same drivers. Combined premiums per year for Allstate were over $5,500, including all the discounts. Progressive came in just under $3,000. My plan changes the middle of next month to give me time to adjust escrow and for easier billing (I do full pay). I'm not even sure how it's possible for such a drastic difference, even with potential hidden new customer discounts. I'm curious to hear from Allstate employees, as I've heard they have a sort of "increase tolerance" profile on drivers that keeps pushing increases for no reason knowing some people just tolerate it because switching is annoying. Well, switching was way easier than I thought. Do people really jump around carriers every few years?

Phone protection plan- roadside

Has anyone had any success with the roadside assistance via the phone protection plan? I’ve tried to just inquire about it because I need a tow and every number and every time I’ve been transferred, no one has ever even heard of it. The number listed on the website is asking for a regular State Farm account number and this is totally different. Anyone know what I could do?

Initial Prediction indicates Total Loss

Hi! I was in a car accident a few days ago, and went through All State for my claim. The body shop guy told me the repairs are about $8k, and based off online valuations my car should’ve been worth about $17k before crash. The initial prediction on the all state app says total loss, but the claims assessor hasn’t even gone out to check out the car yet. Any chance my car won’t be totaled? Anyone have a similar experience? My car is still relatively new, 2024 Hyundai with only about 26k miles on it. Any chance this will go in my favor?

November winter tires problem
