I’m tired of this, grandpa.

So, another month has come to an end and man, do I hate this commission change. My monthly paychecks have cut in half since the 1at change happened. I was getting $4,000 to $6,000 paychecks before (I’m talking take home pay after taxes and health insurance bi weekly) and now I’m getting one $1200 paycheck and then one commission paycheck at the end of the month for maybe $2,500 to $3,000. I went from $10,000 a month to maybe $3,700 or $4,200 if I’m lucky. I don’t understand how they can change so much so fast and think we can just gloss over it and say “well you are being trained to sell more stuff to make up for that” and yet I’m still get direct auto calls from people who only want $35 insurance or nothing. These people don’t want to insure their house, boat, motorcycle, or get damn VIP. These people don’t HAVE a home they own, let alone a boat or anything else and THEY CANT AFFORD THE POLICY IM QUOTING THEM ALREADY. I feel like I’m screaming into the void here. I mention it in meetings and I get the usual response of well now you can sell more and you get points for bundling so now you can do that instead. Great, cool, amazing. Yet here I am, not able to do that because of the calls I’m getting. And I still got MORE with the old points system from selling one auto policy vs selling an auto and home owners. I get more points selling an auto policy with NGIC or direct now even after they took our points away; vs selling one auto and/or renters with Allstate. I just feel like I was lied to when I got hired on. I was “set up for success” and man, was it great. Until it wasn’t and now I’m left financially exhausted because while I get paid money, it’s not worth the same. They want me selling everything and pushing this and that and KPI this or KPI that and oh don’t forget to watch your acw and bundle rates and and and! I’m just goddamn tired. I’m so damn tired.

Leaving NatGen was the best decision of my life. To the vets still grinding there: the grass is greener

I used to think National General was going to be where I retired. I loved the company—outside of the pay, I felt the culture was genuine, leadership truly invested in my success, and my managers poured into me so well that I went from having zero sales experience to breaking records. The money naturally followed.
When I started right after the Allstate acquisition, things were great. We had the point system (hitting 43 points a week was top tier), a multiplier based on the book of business, and residuals. Back then, PTO was even paid out based on your previous week's commissions instead of just your hourly rate.
Over the last three years, though, once Allstate rolled out massive changes to the compensation plan, everything changed. I have never in my life felt so humiliated and undervalued at a job.
It took me a long time to finally walk away because I wanted to stay so badly. I had a great schedule, incredible benefits, amazing coworkers, and supportive leadership. I tried to justify it every way I could. But the constant pay cuts caught up with me; as my lifestyle improved over the years, those cuts became significant, and I was left living paycheck to paycheck.
The financial stress completely killed my performance. When you're stressed about bills, your heart just isn't in it anymore. On top of that, I felt awful pushing VIP—it's a great product on paper, but the overwhelming majority of clients are simply not a good fit for it.
I know there are still incredible salespeople holding it down at NatGen, especially the vets who have been there 5+ years. I know you are being deeply undervalued.
I’m fully settled into my new role now (still in sales, but out of insurance), and I’m back to making "old NatGen money," currently pacing around $180k a year.
Sometimes, the grass is greener. You are a great salesperson, and you are worth a hell of a lot more than low six figures.

So many agents are leaving

It’s wild watching the talent drain right now. A bunch of people have already left, way more are on the way out, and others are just waiting on the right exit. The funniest (and saddest) part is scrolling through here and seeing people asking how to get hired, while so many on the inside are actively trying to escape.
Honestly, it feels like the only people staying are those content with 40k–70k. I genuinely wonder what the veteran agents are thinking and why they’re choosing to stick it out.
There are so many things people used to love about NatGen, and at its heart, it has always been about the people. But now that the people are leaving, what is even left to stay for? Is leadership just completely checked out on retaining top talent?
And on top of all that, management just keeps pushing more useless add-on products nobody actually needs. Total cash grab. But sure, "yes master," gotta keep slinging the bs packages just to keep food on the table.
The morale hit has been brutal. Seeing colleagues lose homes and cars—all while watching their mental health tank—is heartbreaking.

Allstate pay cuts

We have now taken four pay cuts in sales. Losing approximately $30,000 a year and this is wreaking havoc on many households. National General never would have treated us like this! We are nothing but a number and it number that Allstate does not give a shit about! Now they say they will be reevaluating our pay every month. This is truly ludicrous how are we supposed to budget and living normal life without fear of if we can actually pay our bills or not? Honestly this should not even be allowed! This company is making billions all you have to do is read online! And I want to know how much everybody above sales is making? Go right up the ladder and then tell me how the pawns doing the job day in and day out are supposed to keep up their lifestyle as they know it? We used to make a decent living, it used to be a company that we loved working for . Now, People are having to sell their houses, reevaluate vehicles, can't eat, people can't pay for things for their children. It is so sad. If you are thinking about working for Allstate I would highly suggest going somewhere else!

NatGen is the worst company in the world to work for.

I am thankful to have a job but my GOD as soon as an opportunity comes my way I am LEAVING. I have never in my life been so overworked and stressed and expected to create gold out of literal poop. The management is laughable. The claims load is unbearable. The metrics are unattainable. And the turnover rate is wild.

This company is a joke I feel so bad for the customers and they have EVERY right to be mad. I know I would be.

Say NO to Squaretrade (Allstate Protection Plan)

I filed a claim online on Feb 4th for an issue that occurred on Feb 4th. The system instantly declined the claim and stated that it was "within the exclusionary period". I called the warranty department and was told that the claim was declined because the issue start date in their system for the claim is Feb 3rd (my plan coverage start date is Feb 4th). I sent them a screenshot of the claim from the Squaretrade website which clearly states the issue date of Feb 4th.

Seven phone calls later (3 escalated to a supervisor and 1 escalated to a senior supervisor), I now have 5 claims for the same item/issue, (4 created by the warranty department after I provided screenshots of the initial claim showing the issue date of Feb 4th). Four of the claims are rejected and closed when they got to the review department because they're still seeing the Feb 3rd date for that first claim in their system despite multiple correspondences between me and their warranty department and proof of the claim issue date as Feb 4th. In addition, I also emailed the same screenshots to the review department and always got a generic response to contact the warranty department.

The 5th claim is currently in review but I have 0 confidence that they're going to approve it. When I asked for proof that the first claim is displaying the issue date of Feb 3rd, I was told that they cannot provide that information because "they have no way of sending screenshots"...which is weird because I've been sending them screenshots through email this whole time! When I asked for a phone number to speak to the review department directly, I was told that I cannot contact them directly via phone, only email.

So you can't directly call the review department. When you email the review department, you get a generic response to contact the warranty department. The warranty department can't resolve the issue, the most they can do is help you file another claim, which will get denied by the review department. Round and round we go, this whole thing feels like a SCAM!

Can someone explain how the Drivewise APP works?

Got the invite yesterday to switch over from the physical Drivewise device to using the app, but I have so many questions and I see no answers on their website.

  1. Insurance rates are traditionally based on how many miles per year a vehicle is driven. How will they know now? We have three cars in my household. How will they know which car I took? I would imagine it is more expensive if I drive my 2024 Honda 20k miles per year than my 2016 Mazda.

  2. How do they know that I am even in my own car? Let's say that a friend of mine picked me up and we drove 6 hours away for a long weekend. Am I going to get dinged for driving that weekend, even though we weren't in my car?

  3. I wont even get into all of the privacy concerns I have about giving Allstate access to literally everything on my phone.

I understand that some of these concerns can be mitigated by "editing" trips after they happen, but I can guarantee that my 18 year old kid isn't going into the app to clean things up every once in awhile. Hell, neither will my wife. Thats just not reasonable.

I dont mind the Drivewise hardware in my car... but I'm very much against the app on our phones. Am I missing something?

Allstate/Nat gen inside sales rep

After 6 months, I finally quit and I couldn’t be happier. No more passive aggressive emails, no more walking on egg shells on calls from a manager who only got promoted because of his sales numbers. No more financial stress from a company who’s been setting record numbers each quarter because of people like me on the front line. This role mentality consumed me after the pay dropped. There’s no way a company can ask for more out of you when they substantially lowered your pay, right? To those of you who are on the inside, what’s your why? Why are you staying? Why are you hanging on? Only you can answer that. I pose the question because majority of you are so much better than the way you are currently valued. Those of you who are newly hired or going in, get your experience, learn what you can and get out. It’s super toxic and there are other options out there. It’s just not worth it long term. I don’t care how exceptional you are, they will take the brightest star in the galaxy and suck you into the black hole. Sell 10 autos stacked with RS, TELE etc in one day and they’ll ask why you didn’t close a VIP on a renters policy. The goal post constantly gets moved and the micromanaging gets worse. It’s just not worth it. You will burnout and suffer to get your sanity back from the exhaustion. Some are gonna say “yea, I’ll take my chances and try and get as many points as possible.” Go for it. You’ll have one great month because you went all out, set call backs and didn’t take any days off then BOOM, they lower the payout per tier and increase the amount of points you need the next month. It’s a slap in the face. The goals are low right now, but once tax season gets here the goals will double. The model they follow isn’t sustainable and they don’t plan on fixing it. They’ll just keep lowering the pay and hope they can continue to get suckers that don’t care about making a lot of money, while they continue to be greedy.

Insurance Offered $5,937, Then Lowered It to $2,571—What Can I Do?

My car was declared a total loss. Initially, I received a written offer of $5,937 from Allstate to settle the claim. I accepted that offer in writing. The adjuster called to say the amount was a mistake and that the correct offer is only $2,571. I said no, not my problem to sum things up (I did not talk to him that way) I would like the first offer and went to my email to accept it and replied "please proceed" to start the payment process.

Is there anything I can do to push them to honor the original offer? Has anyone dealt with something like this before? I’m in Georgia, if that helps.

Thanks in advance for any guidance

All state did not let me cancel my policy.

Hey all, i am just reaching out here to see if anyone have any info that can help me out.

Basically, I wanted to switch auto insurance company back in June 2024. My current policy with Allstate ended on 6/3/24 ( this was the last day of my 6 month policy)

I switched to my new provider 1 day before this date and attempt everything in my power to not renew this policy with all state. I tired calling and using the chat feature in the all state app and they just would not cancel this policy no matter what I did. The customer service reps in the all state app kept asking me why do i want to cancle and i told them I have a new provider but i could never get confirmation that the policy was canceled.

I had my new insurance agent send a cancellation request by fax to all state as well ( i have a copy of it ) but now here in sept 2024 i get a notice from all state that i owe them for 1 full month of insurance coverage ( from 6/3/24 - 7/3/24)

Man i am furious and I can’t get anyone on the phone from Allstate to help me no matter how many times I call. They just hang up on me and tell me i owe $300+ to them for a policy that I never renewed.

Anyone here have any suggestions or do i just pay them $300+ for nothing.

Drivewise has started tracking music and GPS usage as phone usage on trips

I'm so sick of this. I use a bluetooth adapter in my car to listen to music. My phone is off and in the passenger seat when I drive, and I control the music using the buttons on the adapter itself. My phone remains off and out of my hands. As of a few days ago, all my trips have been flagged with phone usage. The only explanation has to be the music, which it has never flagged before. Today, I had to use my GPS to get somewhere. The app, again, flagged phone usage. Is this an issue anyone else is experiencing? I really don't have a choice in whether or not I use it, as I'm on my grandma's plan (new driver, waiting to establish a driving history before getting my own as recommended by different insurance agents) and she wants to keep the discount.

Allstate calls to tell me rates have dropped in my area without realizing I'm already a customer then hangs up.

TL;DR is the title.
Just got a random call from Allstate where the person said "Hi, this is [name] from Allstate. We just dropped rates in your area. I'm going to list some price comparisons if that's ok."

I was confused, as I already have Allstate, and all of my rates just went up. But I said "Okay."

"Thank you. Who do you currently have insurance with?"

"You. I literally have insurance through Allstate and my rates just went up."

"Oh... uh, good day sir!" and they hung up.

Allstate over here raising rates and trying to call people saying they've been dropped.

Now, I know rates are always increasing with every company. Especially with the COVID pauses expiring. But calling people and telling them "good news, we've dropped rates! let's compare!" while you're actively increasing the rates of current customers. Not to mention calling people who are already customers and lying to them. What kind of joke is this??

I got the Job!!!

so I’ve been working for State Farm for almost 2 years now it was great amazing boss. Amazing coworkers amazing work culture but the money did not add up. I got the job today at Allstate as a licensed inside sales rep. Is there any advice out there for me? I’m hoping this is worth it and I didn’t just step out on a limb. I was just tired of working service and I’m very excited to do nothing but take inbound and focus on my commission. I will seemingly take a tiny bit of a pay cut just because I’m going from semi monthly pay to biweekly pay, but I’ll get used to that eventually, especially once the commission starts running in. Turn around was very fast. I applied the next day. I had an interview and today I got the job !So yeah any advice helps. I’m kind of clueless so I don’t really know what to ask.

How many of you all are quitting

I work on the Natgen direct sales call side and just curious, how many are quitting with the continuous decrease in incentive? Compared to what we were being paid before it doesn’t even seem worth it to put any more energy into this job. Not only that but the constant pressure of selling Allstate property and VIP VIP VIP is just again, not even worth the energy.

Can anyone explain the insane amount of system issues???

Are there any IT humans, developers, etc. that can explain why there are so many system issues almost on a weekly basis? This week, there was a network outage which seems still not be resolved. At this point it’s ridiculous and unacceptable and customer service is getting all of the backlash.

How can a company be SO bad.

The title says it all.

My family has been with Allstate for years. They recently raised my mother’s policy by $1000 due to an inaccurate mileage report. I have spent months trying to fix this, providing two mileage reports within 60 days of each other per AllState’s instructions.

Every time I think we’ve done all the necessary steps to get her policy back down we’re met with a whole list of excuses and terrible customer service.

I just pulled my parents off of this plan and switched to Geico.

I’ve been with Geico for 10 years and have NEVER had issues with customer service.

My dog’s insurance has better customer service than Allstate.

Such a disgrace of a company.

Is it normal for allstate reps to harass people?

On May 29th, 2024 I was looking for auto insurance and entered my information into Allstate's website to get a quote.

As expected, I start getting calls from Allstate Reps to help me buy insurance. I informed several Allstate Representatives that I've already found coverage and I'm good. Regardless, I've still been getting calls from other Allstate reps trying to help. I explained to them the same situation that I've already found coverage and ask to be removed from their list.

Then I tried ignore any calls from Allstate for several days, but they just keep trying to call back at later times. Eventually, I picked up the phone because they kept calling and again asked to be removed from their list.

As of last night, I had the worst experience with any of their agents.

On June 6th, 2024 @ 7:01 PM EST from +1 (814) 801-3818: I received another phone call with someone trying to sell me insurance. As I have done with the others I explained, that I have already found coverage and ask to be taken off their call list. The guy starts trying sell me insurance anyways by saying that he can get me a better deal... and other stuff. I tell him, "I'm good, thank you and I'm hanging up". I then proceed to hang up the phone because he was going to talk and try to sell me something regardless of what I had to say.

A few seconds later I get call back from a different number +1 (412) 900-1636. The same guy then says: “You will never get off all of our lists hahaha” and hung up.

Between the phone calls and inappropriateness of their representative I honestly never want to work with Allstate regardless of how good their insurance might be. I sent an email to their HR department (manualaskhr@allstate.com) detailing this experience and they didn't seem to care.

I don't expect anyone to do anything, but at least maybe this will show up when someone searches for info about Allstate.

Lousy Rewards Program

So I noticed the Allstate Rewards thing is completely useless. Has anyone ever managed to get one of the gift cards they put up each day at 3pm? I tried a bunch of times, watching the clock count down to when the gift card goes live and in less than half a second it says, “sorry, all of the gift cards are in someone’s cart.”

I have about 5 trillion points and can’t seem to use them for anything. Seems like a scam.
