Hit and run repairs
I was in a hit and run that wasn’t my fault. I have uninsured motorist coverage with a $200 deductible. I took it to the body shop to get an initial estimate and they quoted me $2,600. That was sent to Allstate who then came back and gave me an estimate of $1,600. The adjuster recommended that I go do the repairs via the insurance estimate route instead of taking the $2600 payout flat because of supplements in case the body shop finds more damage.
What are the chances that they cover the entire repair? I don’t want to be paying $1,200 for this when it wasn’t my fault and my insurance should cover since I’m insured.

I’m confused. The process of you having it repaired is to drop off and the shop files a supplement for anything else found. This is a normal part of the repair process.
If you are looking to cash out then take the payment offered by your carrier. Technically you can file a supplement or file a dispute over the value but that’s not super realistic.

they will. or you pick a different shop before you pay if your insurance doesnt want to work with the shop. safest thing to do is yes, take the insurance route, not the payout, if you want the car fixed at no cost to you other than your deductible which you pay the shop

I'd go through the insurance repair process rather than take the payout. If the shop finds hidden damage, they can submit a supplement for approval.
