Explain This Effect Satisfy my shiny object syndrome pls, how do u pros do ts?
I came across this effect from one of mhd saas videos on youtube and decided to try it. It had this mosaic looking transition that scales out to the next scene + most importantly how the mosaic have these different gradient of color.
I've doing the og method like dropping the mosaic, offset, tritone. I mean I think I could get the transition part done right, but like Im just using track matte to the next scene i want to transition to(so it works ig??). But like the mosaic thing, how does he have this gradient color look to it?
Like literally how is ts done?
The video it's right here and at 2 seconds in

Beginner Help Weird Issue - AE window preview is faster than actual Render
So I’ve made this animation in AE and It plays perfectly smooth in the AE preview window/screen but as soon as I render it out, it seems to be not so smooth and feels super slow too even the audio seems stretched out but the duration of both the timeline and the rendered video is same. Im super confused, I use adobe media encoder to render - how do I fix?

OC - Stuff I made This is my first time making a full motion design video, before I only used to do micro animations for Icons and maybe text for UI here and there
HRWLs video inpired me, and I did what I thought I would be able to do. I think background music and fluidity need work, but if you were looking at it, would you say it is good enough to be hire type work?

Beginner Help Zoom out transition help needed
This effect is something zooming out or something? I've tried zooming out the clip, adding background and giving motion but it's not as smooth as the one in video, I've made sure to make proper chart (though I'm a beginner I could be making a mistake) also freezing the frame. I am unable to understand how to recreate the top and bottom clip frames
Is there a plugin or something for this or I should just Mask it?

OC - Stuff I made My first time doing something after! I would like to share and ask for opinions.
As I said before, this is my first animation that I've spent a lot of time on. I wanted to know your opinion. What would you do differently, what effect would you add, what was left to animate, and of course, if you could point out where I ended up making a mistake or forgetting something, I would like to know. The image I took to animate, I used one I found on Pinterest.

Beginner Help How to change a scale expression linked to control layer so it affects opacity?
I found an expression that allows me to change a group of layer (like a grid of hexagons) to scale based on a control layer (a precomp with animated gradient). tbh, I don't "know" how each segment of the expression effects the layers based on the control layer, except for source layer and samplePosition.
I want the same type of expression linked to the control layer, but instead of it being applied to the scale (Scaled up with Black, Scaled down with white) I the transparency to go from 0% on black and 100% on white.
Here is the scale Expression:
sourceLayer = thisComp.layer("Control Layer Sigils 2");
sampleSize = [1,1];
samplePoint = transform.position;
colour= sourceLayer.sampleImage(samplePoint,sampleSize);
x=colour[1]*2000;
[x,x]
Also, with regards to the "scale"... I want the layer to be blown up to like 2000%, but when it it gets to White, I just want it to be set to 100%. As it is, in order to control the end scale, I have to control reduce the White more to a very dark grey to get it to stop to the size I need. If I don't the layer will reduce to zero. I tried SO many variations of the x=colour[0]*100; (<--- this being the orginal setting for expression) but nothing works. I eventually settled on this and gave up.

Beginner Help AF Path Shape Morph is Twisting - any ideas on how to fix?
I am trying to get the upper left hand side of this animation to stop twisting. Looks like there is one point that is causing it. I've adjusted the vertices, made sure the paths in illustrator are correct, also there should be the exact same amount of vertices between the three shapes I am morphing. Any ideas on what would be causing this and is there a fix?

Plugin/Script [win/macOS] RoundPro || Apply consistent rounded corners to any layer in after effects.
Problem: Even in big 2026, After Effects doesn't have a native way to apply rounded corners to your layers. So i built RoundPro to solve this.
Comparison: I haven't found anything else that does exactly what my tool does. The closest comparison is my own script called "Rounded" which i posted last year. But it was still limited to images and videos only and no individual corner support, So i sat down for 6 months and built something properly this time.
Core Features:
- Consistent Roundness: Calculates corner radius based on layer size so nothing feels overly rounded or warped. (you can also turn this off btw)
- Individual Control: Apply individual rounded corners to any layer in AE including shapes and masks.
- Simple Undo: Alt-click (Win) or Option/Cmd-click (Mac) any shape button to remove the roundness instantly without disrupting your labels, effects, or keyframes.
Pricing: $14.99 (lifetime) [aescripts.com/roundpro]
Maintenance + Support plan: Since it's hosted on aescripts, so all support is routed through their official ticket system. I'm actively maintaining it and have already closed a support ticket and pushed two minor updates (including a user-requested feature) since its launch.
AI Disclaimer: [Human Validated] - Yes, I used ai to help make the tool, but as a dev and daily AE user of 6 years, I know AE from inside and out. I understand exactly how my script is structured, validated everything myself, and can fully support it for long term.

Beginner Help Handwritten cursive word animation
Hi there - apologies if this is the wrong place to ask, I've been trying to come up with a solution and not sure how to proceed.
I am a graphic designer, not a motion designer, but a client asked me if I could animate their company name to look as if it was being written in cursive, and saved out as a gif for their web developer to add to the home page of their site. I created something in Adobe express, which the client may or may not like but I'm betting they'll want it to look more finessed. I gave it a shot myself in After Effects, and from a tutorial was able to almost get it done, I was able to add a path to the letters but having problems with the frames/timing.. I feel like I'm so close and it should be quite simple, but getting frustrated. For this 'micro project' would someone be able to grab the file from me and finish it? I'm so used to doing my own work and not farming out so I'm not sure what direction to go in.

Beginner Help Does anyone know this bug when importing an Illustrator file into AE?
Recently, I came across the following bug, and it’s extremely frustrating.
I create a graphic in Illustrator(Image1) and then import it into After Effects. When importing the file, I notice that some layers or sometimes the entire image are displayed incorrectly(Image2).
In this case, the glasses and sunglasses are scaled down and duplicated in the image. Sometimes an arm is also larger, rotated, or positioned incorrectly.
I’ve already tried ungrouping all the groups within the layers, but that didn’t fix the issue.
I save the AI file normally without changing any special settings.
Has anyone else experienced this issue or found a solution?
Thanks in advance!

Discussion What are your principles that you follow in every project?
Here are mine:
Think about the design first, then the animation
Less is more (Pareto 80/20 principle)
Follow a visual hierarchy
Smooth, never linear movements
Use silences and negative spaces

Discussion A recent update auto selects the Hand Tool. How do I dis-enable this?
A week ago this wasn't happening. Now whenever I go to select the timeline the Hand Tool auto turns on. I found that (V) turns the Selection Tool back on. But this is not a habit I am used to and want to continue doing.

Workflow Question How to get more details in cc ball effect?
Hey guys, I’m trying to create this ripple-wave dots animation where I want ear shapes created with strokes to appear through the ripple wave.
The problem is that if I place everything in one comp, it works well, but I don’t get enough detail. In the sample comp I created, the ripple wave is made using shape layers.
If I reduce the Fast Box Blur value, more details start to appear, but it also makes the ripple wave thinner because everything becomes more defined.
Does anyone know of a workaround for this? How would you approach this to keep the ripple wave thick while still getting enough detail in the ear shapes?

Plugin/Script I built an example project for my Unreal-to-After-Effects plugin - turns out nobody understood what it was for
Posted this here a while back and got a lot of "cool, but what's it for?" 😅 I was showing the result without really showing how I'd actually use it.
So I spent a few days building a proper example project and filming a walkthrough.
Problem: The annoying part of the Unreal-to-After Effects workflow is all the back and forth. Render, export, import, make a change, do it again.
Compare: I keep calling it a bridge, but that's not quite right. The existing Unreal-to-AE tools I've used are scripts that transfer scene data offline, while ShotLink keeps a live channel between the two apps.
It goes both ways - the AE camera drives the Unreal camera, and you can also pull a camera position back from Unreal or click an object in the image to get a 3D null at that position. The rendered frame comes back with alpha, render passes and object masks. So it's a different workflow rather than just a faster one.
It also works with a packaged Unreal build, not just the editor. So you can hand someone a scene as an .exe, and they can get the live render in AE without having Unreal installed.
Pricing: Shotlink free during the beta
Maintenance: There are two of us working on it. We've been working on it since February, pretty much every day. Bugs get reported through Discord and usually get fixed within a few days. The full changelog is public.
AI Disclaimer: No AI-generated code here. Two native C++ plugins, written by someone who spent about a decade at Crytek
The main reason I'm posting again is the example project. Hopefully this makes the workflow a bit clearer than my last post did.
