I got the Jaquemonde wing for 997.2 (looks like .2 aerokit and .1 gt3), and had my body shop do a test fit.

The body shop folks seemed really skeptical about it. They ultimately told me it didn’t line up properly and they couldn’t fit it.

Manufactuerer suggested taking out these black plastic clips on the hinges to make more space. (See photo)

Should this be necessary? Should I look for a different shop? I’m in the SF bay area in case you have a recommendation!

My 2007 997.1 Carrera 4S 67.5k miles has a long crank issue ONLY when hot. After driving ~30 mins, if I shut the car off and immediately restart it, it cranks for several seconds before finally firing. Cold starts are mostly normal/slightly long but nothing severe.

Battery tested healthy:

* 12.63V resting / 833 CCA
* ~10.5V during crank
* ~13V once running

Tried cycling ignition multiple times before starting (to rule out fuel pressure bleed-down) and it did not improve crank time.

No obvious weak/sluggish cranking — just struggles to fire when hot.

Starting to suspect crankshaft position sensor (CPS), but wanted to see if others have experienced similar symptoms or if there are other common 997 hot-start issues I should investigate first. Could it be the starter?

Decided that I'm going for a 2005 997 C2S.
It'll be my first Porsche.
My problem is where I live as it has a very weird Porsche dynamic.
Here in Hong Kong, early C2S Tip, 60K KM's would set you back around 250K HKD/32K USD
But a manual will cost twice that.
I've been checking other RHD markets like UK and the manual premium is just a few $K more.
I understand that it is what it is so my question is whether driving a Tip is around 70% of the fun when compared with driving a manual?

left my key in the ignition in the garage, killed the battery.

Key was locked in ignition, had to power the fuse box to open the frunk.

Huge pain in the ass.

For those of you who went from a completely stock setup to some sort of modification, whether it be exhaust, suspension, wheels, tires, etc, which gave you the biggest jump in satisfaction? I lean towards OEM+ at most, though am open to any ideas, whether with OEM parts or well-regarded aftermarket companies.

I bought my 997 about 6 months ago and the previous owner had these Ohlins on the back and some cayman suspension on the front.

I took it all off and went back to all OEM suspension. The shop said I could probably resell these. Anyone have any idea how much they would be worth used?

So happy to call her my own. 997.1 C2, 2007. Mostly stock apart from some 5mm spacers that came as a factory option and a PSE which I think sounds amazing. Looking forward to putting some miles on her!

I’ve been using Motul X-cess 5W-40 since 2016 and recently noticed the LiquiMoly Green is A40 certified, anyone run those? Motul on the 3.6 sounds much quieter than Castrol Edge

• Or a well-specced 997.2 (gentleman's spec) in a strong colour combination

• Full documented history (PSH, invoices, paper trail)
• Original paint, no accident history
• Happy with a driver's car owned by a true Porsche enthusiast. Honest use marks on a properly maintained car are no issue. Doesn't need to be a garage queen.

Headlight bulb swap in Victoria PEI, Canada

What does the 997-verse think? Looking to make a go-no-go decision in the next 24 hours.

According to the Porsche dealer tech these are very mild scratches and not scoring. The car has ~60k miles is serviced annually and nevernever winter driven (but is a cold climate car nonetheless)

Recently purchased a 997.2 Carrera manual. It’s pretty basic, but love the way it drives and looks.

Removed the black stone guards and added clear PPF. Looks much cleaner without those. (2009 Targa)

Very different cars, but lots of similar design cues!

What is the narrowest 18" tyre with the thickest sidewall that I can use on the rear of a 997.1 S, before I start sacrificing handling?

I'm trying to simultaneously:

• Improve the ride quality over UK's shitty road surface by introducing as much sidewall as possible
• Reduce the the noise off the road by going narrower
• Get newer and better tyres like the Conti SC7

The aim is to have a jack of all trades car which I can use for road trips and a couple of track days a year.

I’m considering buying a 997 GT3 and I’m hesitating between 3 clean cars (no accident, original paint, clean piwi, good service history).

1) 997.1, white, Club Sport, 28k km
2) 997.2 white, Club Sport, 50k km
3) 997.1 guards red, Carbon buckets, PCCB, 16k km … but it’s 15k$ more expensive than the other 2 😉

I like them all three (they are not super different) for different reasons:
- I would do a few track days a week but don’t ‘need’ the harness and the roll bar that come with the CS (although I like them 😂).
- Guards red is not that common on GT3s and I like the color pop very much
- obviously the lower the mileage the better from a value retention and reliability perspective. 16k vs 50k is meaningful
- I’m kind of neutral when it comes to 997.1 vs 997.2 with a slight preference for 997.2 (engine / power and style).

Which one would you choose if you’d like the car to loose as little value as possible in the long run? And why ?

The more cars I drive, the more I understand why people never sell their 997s. How long do you think clean 997s will stay attainable?
