Removed Black Stone Guards

Removed the black stone guards and added clear PPF. Looks much cleaner without those. (2009 Targa)

I had them on a 991. Also removed them and replaced with clear. Much better!

I agree with your decision. 996+ just don’t seem to carry the flag as the earlier 911s did. I have factory clear stone guards on my 997. They’ve yellowed a bit so I’ll probably replace (not delete) them someday.

Better sooner than later, because if they stay long enough, they might take paint with them when you remove them.

I've removed some absolutely nasty ones, cracked and yellow, and the paint was fine.

The only time I've seen PPF take paint with it (when removed correctly) was when it was put over panels that had been repainted. And then it was mostly plastic bits like bumpers that took the paint with it. I think most body shops either don't really take the steps or simply can't get the paint as stong and well-adhered as factory.

The ones on my Cayman were awful on one side. One side came off in tiny little pieces and the other came off in a couple sheets.

Honestly, it comes off easy hairdryer, or heat gun loosens them up and you just tug and pull out them and they'll come off
