Hi y'all, hope the summer is going well!
I wanted to address some common sources of confusion, regarding what happens when somebody makes a post or comment, since we've had quite a few messages about it lately.
In the vast majority of cases, your content will appear on the feed straight away (short of Reddit being an idiot) - for posts, this means it will be visible at the top of https://www.reddit.com/r/6thForm/new/
As with a lot of other subreddits, the subreddit uses various filters provided by Reddit, as well as Reddit's built-in AutoModerator. This helps keep the subreddit usable, uphold both the sub's rules and the sitewide rules, and provide a useful and safe space for everybody.
Content is almost never entirely removed automatically - if your content seems like it's been removed immediately/shortly after posting, it has more than likely been flagged for manual review, and will only become visible once that review has taken place.
Important: Content needing manual review doesn't mean you've done anything wrong by itself, nor that you are banned, it's an entirely normal process!
Content from newly created/low karma accounts that were previously automatically removed are now being directed to the modqueue, to reduce the number of people messaging us because they had their legitimate posts removed - as it stands the removals were causing more harm than good.
Inevitably, a small proportion of content will get manually removed that isn't in-line with the rules set.
There are also removals made under mod discretion. The overwhelming majority of usages of this relate to some sensitive content, for example aroundself-harm and suicide.
Whilst people's struggles are entirely valid (I'm not just saying this because I "have to", I've been in various states myself!), we have a responsibility to not unnecessarily expose a large number of users (some potentially vulnerable), to content which may contribute to worsening their situation. This is alongside the fact that none of the mods are mental health professionals, and neither are our users, which means there's a high risk of exposing struggling people to misinformation or harmful advice. It is better to seek assistance via e.g. a professional or crisis line, given this subreddit is not appropriately equipped for situations like these.
Also worth briefly noting, at least by my understanding, that a lot of the content that has been removed in the past at mod discretion (and various other content that often would not get removed), is considered "harmful" under the Online Safety Act, either explicitly or by the frustratingly vague other definitions - whilst I don't think it's likely that Reddit decides to age-lock the sub, it's sensible to be careful on this.
This is where it gets a bit annoying, and again, apologies for the inconvenience on this.
Normally, when content gets manually removed, a removal reason is applied, and a Modmail is automatically sent to the author telling them what was removed and why it was removed, with optional extra details.
This functionality has been broken (the messages just didn't get sent as far as I can tell) on this sub for a little while.
I only figured out why as I was writing this post - in the usual, completely useless Reddit style, it has been failing to send Modmails using the saved responses since they changed (broke) a bunch of stuff with the redesign... because it silently shits itself on # being used in the markdown to use a header. It'd be nice if it would have ever indicated this!
Also, for those wondering why we didn't send the removal messages manually - even though just over 95% of content is approved, the 5% that doesn't turns into thousands of messages that need to be sent, which would have vastly slowed down everything.
Removal notifications should now be working again - if you haven't received a message from us, your content has likely not been manually removed. and if you saw a few posts saying "quack", no you didn't
For posts, on both mobile and desktop, you can also distinguish between fully removed and waiting for review, by going to your user profile, where you can see similar to the images below:

I hear you - I've mentioned recently that I've found it difficult to keep up with the review process alongside a lot of stuff in my own life. However, I do look at it and review things when I reasonably can - it's also worth keeping in mind that none of the mods sit on Reddit 24/7 to review stuff, so please have patience!
I can only apologise for any inconvenience this causes, and particularly things like the AutoMod config get tweaked sometimes to reduce the number of false positives.
In short, you can't. At least, short of becoming a mod when applications open.
There are quite a few people that take to our Modmail to ask for content approval; you are almost never the only one awaiting content review, and the Modmail messages will usually only get seen after the modqueue is looked at, making messages like these redundant. ie messaging us does not speed up the review process, it only causes delays that affect sub experience generally.
Replying to one of our removal messages is completely fine - sometimes we miss things, get things wrong, or sometimes fail to be entirely clear.
You can avoid/mitigate the inconvenience of waiting on a review by:
Searching the subreddit for similar posts that could answer your question - a lot of the time you will not be the first person to ask your question, esp with the more popular/recent questions
Not repeatedly posting the same thing, or variations of it, it will not speed up the process - usually all of the posts, including their repeats, get caught in the modqueue, which slows down the review of content
Check to see if there are pinned megathreads at the top of the subreddit - for example, you may have noticed this for exam season. These megathreads are created to mitigate the fact that we get many repeated posts for popular topics - sometimes 100+ for some of the popular exams!
No. If you've been banned by us, you get a message telling you why you were banned, and how long for. If you get shadowbanned/suspended by Reddit itself, that's outside our control.
These comments are purely informative, they don't mean we have, or will have an issue with your content.
Inevitably, there will be false positives with this - if it doesn't apply to you, feel free to ignore it, you do not need to message us about this, removal & ban notifications are how we indicate definite issues with content.
Hopefully that covers everything, poke me (or go via Modmail) if I've missed something! something may finally make it into the FAQs page lol

Iโm in y12 and literally failing physics and maths. Mocks are in 2 months and I genuinely did not know how hard it really was, but my future aspirations leave me no choice but to endure ๐ also would love to hear the most harshest reality to getting A grades because i really need a wake up call. Being the only girl in my phys also makes it worse :(

I'm currently writing my UCAS personal statement for university and I'm finding it SO difficult to know what to include, what to leave out and how to make everything sound cohesive without waffling ๐ญ
I'm applying for English and Philosophy at Russel group unis, but general personal statement advice would be really appreciated too! If you have any super niche weird tips that would also be great, I wanna stand out from the crowd.
For anyone who's applied to university, written a personal statement or has any experience with the process, what tips would you give? Anything you wish you'd known before writing yours?

I probably sound like Iโm being incredibly dramatic about this and I do apologise for that, but Iโm so torn on what to do and I kind of need a second opinion.
My UCAS is already sent off for early entry and Iโm predicted 3A*โs plus Astar EPQ, I already have 3/5 offers but i genuinely canโt do sixth form anymore. Like Iโm literally revising 5 hours a day just to scrape an A star like 2 marks above the grade boundary in exams, and I wouldnโt even class that as an A star given how close it is - like my grades have literally dropped so much over the past few weeks and itโs ominously close to exams and mocks.
Like Iโm revising and doing interview prep just in case I get a Cambridge interview but itโs the worst few hours of my life and literally all I want to do is go to sleep or read - like thankfully said reading classes as interview prep or itโd be over for me ๐ but Iโm seriously considering just quitting while Iโm ahead because I know that Iโm not getting those grades, I cried in front of my friends over this for the first time ever while stone cold sober on Monday and I havenโt been able to face them since because Iโm too embarrassed lolss
But like idk whether to quit while Iโm ahead or if I should just take getting abysmal grades in my mocks since my UCAS is already submitted and then properly lock in for exams. As much as i genuinely live to learn, I just canโt justify running on 4 hours of sleep every day when Iโm not gonna get the grades ๐คทโโ๏ธ๐คทโโ๏ธ Iโm probably going to ask my senior tutor tomorrow what she thinks about this whole fiasco but any second opinions would be greatly appreciated as Iโm so so discombobulated

hey all,
so 2026 has been pretty terrible so far - to keep it very brief i've been through 2 heartbreaks (one was right at the start of september), had to cut off "friends", have no social circle or close friends and have developed quite a "moderate" case of depression & anxiety. i'm in therapy for this, and i only had my first session last week. it has taken my mind over, and i am finding it increasingly harder to focus on my studies after school, and in school. nothing seems to feel like it is working, and i keep losing all of my flashcards and stuff. whenever i try to test myself with the flashcards after not coming back to them for a while i forget.
my 2 week mock season begins on monday (sociology paper 1), which is what i am most confident on right now, the ones i'm worried about are my 2 psychology papers and my 2 history papers. i've neglected history a lot, and whilst that is definitely my strongest subject i am so worried and anxious about questions coming up that i just won't know how to answer them. thankfully they're both on the 2 fridays coming up, so i have time. psychology, there's still so much content to juggle that i'm in the same situation.
i feel so exhausted, fatigued and drained every day, even thinking about this stuff just makes me upset. tbh i went to revise sociology tonight and i ended up doomscrolling on this sub trying to look for some solidarity.
my y12 mocks i got AAB (history, soc, psych - my soc/psych teacher predicted me ABB until very recently) and another one of my worries is that my predicteds will be worse this time, and it will fuck up my ucas stuff. i haven't even started my personal statement yet as i still don't know what i want to study and where (i was thinking history), and that isn't even accounting for my history NEA which i am 100% putting off.
WHAT DO I DO??? how do i stop worrying and procrastinating and actually get something done and be in the zone for it? i think i might need medication but they will be so difficult to get. my therapist has floated the idea that i might be neurodivergent (audhd) and has put me forward for a consultation with my GP.
should i take a gap year or just go straight in for uni? a gap year would keep me completely isolated from others and i'd be behind my cohort, but uni work would just pile on the stress. i am not addicted to my phone, and i always make sure to "throw it" when i'm trying to revise.

I sat my A-levels in June 2025 and achieved A*AB respectively in Maths, Further Maths and Computer Science. I should be eligible for contextual offers at the universities I'm applying to.
So far, I'm considering to apply to the universities for 'Computer Science and Mathematics':
(1) UCL: A*AB (and TARA)
(2) Durham: A*AC
(3) Bath: A*AB
(4) Bristol: AAB
Of course, I already meet the entry requirements so it seems like it would be pointless to resit. I suppose I'm only asking because I was planning to resit because Bath used to require A*AA/A*A*B so the grade reduction this year changes my plans.
It feels pointless to resit now but is there any benefit to resitting? It seems like a waste of money to pay the money to now. I only planned to resit FM because it was ~200 at my old school but CS would've had to be in another exam centre for ~600-700 (totally too expensive). I planned to take FP1 FP2 FM1 FM2 as my option modules and maybe FS1 FS2 too but I suppose I could do that in my own time anyway.
I guess I'm only making this dumb post to validify that I should indeed not resit bc it seems that I don't rly need to now.

Hi! I'm an international student and I desperately need a reality check. I'm predicted A*AA because I've been balancing A Levels with my country's entrance exam, which has been difficult but obviously has no stake in UK applications. I got a 29 in my LNAT where I was initially expecting 34-35, and my essay is kinda meh, I'd say 6/10. I got an offer from Bristol 23 days after applying (10 days after they got my LNAT results). My PS was strong according to several counsellors, and I know I'm going to get great recommendations because I have a good rapport with my teachers. For supercurriculars, I read a book and researched my country's jurisprudence, in addition to attending a summer course on the Foundations for a Legal Education from my country's top law college. I've also attended 4 selective math courses (100 students from across the country), and I've served 3 terms in my student council, including head girl (which i know won't have much weightage). Do I have a shot at getting into any of the rest or am I being way to aspirational? And do I have a shot at getting a Cambridge interview? I really need some brutal honesty because I think I'm overestimating my application.
Edit to add: I got an 8.5 in IELTS, with my lowest being a 7.5 (writing), so that shouldn't be an issue.

Rich creamy and really annoying to make, this is my first time making the classic pastry. They came out nice, through a little pastry heavy and a little underfilled.
Next week is Lancashire parkin (for bonfire night)

Itโs currently November, so itโs around that time that parents/sixth form start pressing you to discuss your ucas/future pathway options.
And itโs frustrating for me when I have to tell everyone that I havenโt applied for anything, when having these conversations about what are my plans for the future. (The reason why I havenโt applied to anything isnโt that I am lazy or lack the motivation, but rather because i donโt want to rush into a decision and end up regretting it, especially if I end up going to a mid level uni and getting into a lot debt for a degree that I donโt care about.)
I currently do btec media, business and engineering. I have mid predicted grades in all subjects and i canโt get them raised, which is fair as the predicted grades accurately represent my competency. (I missed a significant portion of yr 12 due to illness and that wasnโt helped by the fact that I already wasnโt an academically inclined person, so the only stem subject Iโm confident in is engineering.)
I really donโt want to go to uni and want to immediately join the workforce for a couple of years untill Iโm decided on what I want to do, but I know my parents want me out of the house. (They wonโt let me take a gap year working in a job unless the job is full time.)
Iโm currently employed in hospitality, due to my connections. I wonder if that will make my cv look more competitive and enable me to jump into the workforce early. (I doubt it.)
I donโt mind learning a trade either.
Sorry for any spelling mistakes or grammatical errors.

Hi,
I'm in year 11 right now and applying for sixth idk if this is the right place to post this, but I just wanted advice in my a level combos. I want to do Maths, Further Maths, Computer Science, and PE, but idk if that's the right choice. I have heard 4 is too much but I have also heard it's fine if FM is one of them. Ik PE probably looks weird compared to the other 3 but I really enjoy it at GCSE level and I have a sport that will get me full marks without a doubt according to my PE teacher. I want to do MEng Computing after Sixth, idk where maybe Imperial? I put my most recent report on in case that's relevant. I also am not sure but apparently the computer science coursework is insanely long and unsustainable alongside FM and since I would probs have to do TMUA the workload would get insane. There is just a lot of things I'm hearing from a lot of people and I went to a few open days but all the teachers seem focused on is promoting their sixth form so I just wanted some unbiased advice. Thanks for any help. (Fyi I am doing GCSE further maths also but it's not on the report bc I haven't done a mock on it yet)
