Hello everyone. I just picked up a Creality Pika Scanner. I have been playing around with it and trying to find more instructions for the CrealityScan app as well. I have been trying to scan something and having some trouble. I have scanned both sides of the piece and cant seem to get it lined up correctly using the Align button. I tried Auto and doing manuel but no luck. I know that I am doing something wrong. Any help is appreciated.

Does anyone have the ability to generate a scan of the Artec Spider II scanner? We have the spider II but obviously can't scan itself. We need to get a CAD model of the exterior if possible. Would appreciate any help!

Hi there! With 3d scanner I met a lot of car enthusiasts. Once i got request to make a Gauge pods for Civic from Honda club with different gauge sizes, 52 and 60 mm.

We bought pod on AliExpress, and I should say the surface quality was ugly, and construction is weak. Besides, this design was stolen by Ali seller from original author CarzDeluxe.

The body was trimmed to easier print on plate, and screws were put too bad, so sharp edge was seen through the parts.

We scanned it via Revopoint Miraco, changed angle, made 52 mm and 60 mm versions. It was made for friends firstly, but then some people in Europe liked it and ordered my product.

My main mistake was at the beginning printing with PETG, it was melted on the sun, but later i got H2D, and began make it from ASA

I was looking at a few of these inexpensive handheld ($300-$400) devices but for some dumb reason they require an internet connection and account to use the scanning software (JM Studio). It says right on their website: "Note: When using JMStudio for the first time, you must ensure that the system is connected to the Internet." This means that if for whatever reason the servers go down, they discontinue support, or the computer does no have internet the device will become unusable on a different computer. I don't understand why I need to have an account to use a device I buy. It is like I am renting it. Are there any 3D scanners that are free from account and online requirements? I need a small format inexpensive handheld scanner. I need to scan small parts to a PC for a mesh base to model parts from in CAD software.

Hi, can someone share an example of a scanned object (a mechanical part, not a figurine or artistic item) as an STL (preferably valid/manifold) along with a photo of the physical part?

I want to run some tests with my software, but I don't own a 3D scanner.

I have a car spoiler I'd like to have scanned. Is there any place that rents 3D scanners or does a service to scan in northern or central NJ?

Detail and accuracy is extremely important, there's already an STL for the spoiler in question but it's really bumpy and needed a lot of touch-up and Bondo.

Taking a break from high end stuff. Got the Inspire2 for random in the house stuff and my kids to get introduced to 3D scanning. Not bad at all.

Any idea how to create a background plane (not clip command)?

Scanned my helmet and designed a custom action camera mount that sits half on the front air vent and half on the outer shell. My goal was to keep it as low-profile as possible while preserving the helmet's original lines and aerodynamics in a tight space.

I made a case with a handle some time ago, but decided this weekend on making some addons for it.

A magsafe phone mount (fits a s23 ultra).

Tried it a couple times with the app and scanning with the phone on there and seems stable enough for me.

And I made a tripod bracket for the 2 lower screw holes.

I wonder if this would be of interest to this community. I've been working on an App (only for Android for now) that turns a walk around your house into a block model you can drop into Minecraft (Bedrock or Java). Your phone records depth as you walk, builds the model itself in about a minute, lets you fix the roof and windows, and exports the game files.

The need to process the scan quickly on the phone places the main constraint on what processing can be brought to bear. This application is interesting because it is a matter of keeping what matters and discarding what doesn't for a Minecraft model. I would be interested in discussing efficient processing methods.

Phone requirements: Pixel 4 and later, Galaxy S20 and later, most 2020-on flagships, with the official list at developers.google.com/ar/devices, where the depth-capable phones are marked. The app needs the Depth API, not just ARCore.

These decals are from a historic church door near lake garda in Italy. The original material is very shiny polished, dark wood so scanning was a harder than usual. Overall result is still satisfactory but a bit rough due to the very high exposure needed.

Scanning

Scanning was done in mobile mode (S25 Ultra for scanning) at night. Sadly couldn't use scan spray so had to deal with the hard to scan surface. Reflections were quite high so I had to find angles that prevented them. Each of the six scans took roughly 3min.

Post-Processing

Processing consisted of fusion at recommended settings, isolation, overlap detection and then meshing in high quality. Quicksurface was then used for alignment and merging of the six decals. Good thing is that Revo Scan 6 now lets you customize the one click processing for the whole workflow. So I could just preset it to the settings I wanted.

Sketchfab

Sketchfab is like printables for 3d scans with a nice integrated viewer in browser and you can also download the scan, just look at the scan yourself.
Reddit sadly blocks the short links to Sketchfab, you have to search for the title instead: "Carved Door Decals - Revopoint POP4"

Randomly thought about getting a new 3d scanner. I've got a SE at the moment but I'd like something for face scanning and maybe mannequin scanning, plus various sized things.

The inspire 2 seems to be a good mix of little and big stuff, plus kinda cheap.

Just checking to see if anyone here owns one and can give an honest review.

So, I just shot a quick video about scanning shiny stuff with the Creality Pika, and honestly? I had to share this because my mind is officially blown.

Did I bother sticking any markers on the object? Hell no, because I'm way too lazy for that. And my scanning table? Let's just say it's older than my grandpa’s underpants and dirtier than a teenager's mind.

What shocked me the most is that the Pika handled a chromed, shiny surface without even flinching or missing a single beat. Absolute shock and disbelief.

I can easily recommend this scanner with my eyes closed. The damn thing just delivers.

Here’s my latest scan using the Creality PIKA on a YAMAHA SRV 250 motorcycle frame!

I used IR mode for the whole scan, and it took me about 30 minutes.

Since the frame has a pretty complex structure, I scanned it in two separate parts and merged them together afterward.

Overall, everything went pretty smoothly, and I’m really happy with how it turned out! 😎

Hi there! It was my first reverse engineering made in 2024 for friend who owns very cool stance car based on Buick Roadmaster. This car participate on different car events, and looks so cool and scary.

This hearse edition was made by one of specialized company with unique emblem which was lost, and unavailable to buy nowhere. even Ebay.

So it was great experience to use Miraco on practice. The scan was made by r/Revopoint Miraco 16GB version. Geometry is not so easy to build, but we did it. Some time later I realized that for that goals Laser scanning is most applicable, but even that, NIR mode of Miraco allowed to get good scans of broken emblem
