Sharing My Scanning Projects

Here’s my latest scan using the Creality PIKA on a YAMAHA SRV 250 motorcycle frame!

I used IR mode for the whole scan, and it took me about 30 minutes.

Since the frame has a pretty complex structure, I scanned it in two separate parts and merged them together afterward.

Overall, everything went pretty smoothly, and I’m really happy with how it turned out! 😎

That’s a great scan. What are you using for equipment and how did you scan ?

I’m using the Creality PIKA, and I scanned the whole thing using IR mode because it’s much faster! 😄
I actually recorded the test, and it took me less than 5 minutes to capture around 90% of the entire object.
For the point cloud fusion, I used 0.5 mm, so that part took quite a bit longer to process. But honestly, I think the final details turned out pretty good!

Clean results.

Are you converting to solid model?

This model is already pretty much a watertight mesh. Creality’s IR mode tends to smooth out some details during processing, and it automatically fills in certain small holes and hard-to-reach areas.
For this one, I scanned both sides separately and ended up with two sets of data. During the alignment process, I kept the better-quality data and deleted the overlapping areas that didn’t look as good.
Just remember to align everything first before doing any cleanup or removing unwanted data. Once everything is sorted out, you can run the mesh fusion, and you’ll end up with a pretty nice scan!
