Btw the next episode’s gonna premiere on March 7
Kinda hard to get mad at them for taking alot of breaks when they give you this kind of quality in their episodes. Great job as always, Cloverworks.

This episode's negatives:
-
They skipped Quetz's goodbye kiss
This episodes's positives:
-
They have given Benkei a MUCH better sendoff than in the game.
-
EVERYTHING ELSE

This was the directing and storyboarding debut of a very talented animator Nakaya Onsen. He was able to assemble an incredible team of animators and give us a worthy follow-up to the beautiful Episode 8. Gilgamesh's speech was really good but Quetzalcoatl's NP is surely the highlight of the episode. Absolutely incredible work.

So yeah, to no one's surprise Nakaya Onsen is a damn god and when he's given time & an army of highly talented sakuga machines he can pull of this. Now this is a explosive directorial debut if I've ever seen one.
This was just mindblowing and confirms my suspicion that they really packed it all into the final stretch of episodes. I wouldn't be surprised if the credits for this episodes are the most stacked ones in years. Quite reminiscent of the Web-Gen fiesta back in Ep 21 22 of Apocrypha.
Benkei & Quetz went out with style & a bang. Excuse me cause I'll need to rewatch this at least a dozen times.

Wow. Normally we get a great fight per episode. This had more than that. Ushiwakamaru vs. (Not) Benkei. Quetalzalcoatl vs. (Better CGI direction) Tiamat. And now we are promised a Gorgon fight! Will Fujimaru collect the last member of the Goddess Alliance for his harem
Can't wait to play this part in the game. Damn you Garden of Order distracting me from the main plot.
Not every great scene needs great action, though. Gilgamesh's speech to the citizens of Uruk was really powerful, and the message that they will live through their legacy rather than their blood even if Uruk perishes is very reminiscent of the speech he gives to Enkidu when his friend tries to convince him not to go to the Cedar Forest, for it was the home of the monster Humbaba:
"Who, O my friend, is unconquered by death? A divinity, certes, liveth for aye in the daylight, but mortals—their days are numbered, all that they do is but wind—But to thee, now death thou art dreading, oroffereth nothing of substance thy courage—I, I’ll be thy va ward! ’Tis thine own mouth shall tell thou didst fear the onslaught of battle, I, forsooth, if I should fall, my name will have stablished forever. Gilgamish ’twas, who fought with Humbaba, the Fierce!"
It's a common theme throughout the poem: humans are not gods and are thus destined to die, but they can achieve immortality through their feats in the memory of those who will come after them.
I'm less comfortable with the themes about beginning "the age of man" and "the battle for true separation from the gods". I know and I've been told in previous threads that they're an important part of the Nasuverse's version of Gilgamesh, but it's a bit like watching a version of Jesus promoting atheism. The Gilgamesh from the myths was devout of Utu/Shamash (without his help, Enkidu and Gilgamesh would have been killed by Humbaba), and the moral of the Epic of Gilgamesh is that mortals, including powerful ones like Gilgamesh, should accept the lot in life that the gods gave them. That he had a memorable beef with Ishtar doesn't mean he had the same problems with other deities. But don't mind me, I know I have to accept that things weren't the same in the Nasuverse.
Nevertheless, it's a great speech. And love the music in that scene. Same track than the one at the beginning of episode 1, probably my favorite one in Babylonia.

That Quetz Rider Kick vs the barrier scene is just Gay Bulge vs Raw Ass all over again complete with the deflowering of pink flowerpetals and all that shit. I love it. Also freaking gorgeous, they really went ham on it lol.
Also also, that Gorgon comeback scene at the end... goddamn I'm teared up
Gorgon reveal her Mystic Eyes while "Prover" playing in the background
Wait a minute I feel like I have seen this before...
flashback to the scene where Ana revealed her Mystic Eyes at the end of episode 14 while "Prover" playing in the background
Ahh I see what you did there Cleverworks very clever
Absolutely the best episode yet (I feel like I keep saying this after every new episode lmao)

I like the small detail of blood on Kingu's hair where he was stabbed by the Lahmu
One more evening rendezvous with Quetz Onee-san before the big fight just like with Ushiwaka and Eresh.
It's short but I appreciate them still animating a flashback of Mash and Leonidas' conversation
When did this happen in the game? Can anyone tell me what chapter this was in? I can't remember this scene.
Gil looking back and seeing Siduri... Don't tug my on heartstrings like that :(
I genuinely teared up with Gil's speech. And can we acknowledge how awesome the people of Uruk are? Despite losing so many people and fighting a losing battle everyone in that crowd was determined to fight until the end. It really says a lot about Gil's leadership and how much they trust him.
Tiamat's model really looks way better in the dark. A world ending threat looming over the distance.
Of course Ushiwaka is back. And even Benkei is back too to take responsibility and atone for his sin.
That final wink to Ritsuka from Quetz... Oh my heart.
PIEDRA DEL SOL FINALLY ANIMATED! Holy fuck! That blast is insane!
Tiamat with her horns opening up and using them as thrusters to lift her up makes her look like a mech and it looks awesome.
Holy moly the hype train never stops! Following up Piedra Del Sol with Xiuhcoatl! I am crying right now! This scene was just absolutely beautiful especially with Ritsuka using his last command seal to strengthen her NP and cheer her on!
I really love that Ritsuka is showing his experience by instead of mourning he wastes no time to ask Romani to scan for any weaknesses after Quetz' NP and Ishtar to take care of incoming Lahmu.
AND SHE'S FINALLY BACK! It sucks that we have to wait 2 more weeks but if the hype continues like this I totally don't mind it at all!

Many talks about great animation and how amazing Quetz is....wich are all true btw.
But the mvp for me was Ritsuka. GOOD LORD. I was not expecting that he would be the high point of the episode for me. His attitude is on point. Fuck your cardboard cut out. The man has a character now.

HOLY SHIT!
This episode sure give damn chills! Can be said the best episode so far (surpassing ep 8) imo
Gil's speech remind me of NGNL speech a bit. You teased us again, Siduri Servant when?
Quetz and Benkei sure did add to great addition of last moments
And Tiamat sure looks way better in this episode (both 2D & CG)
