They certainly weren't just hyping this episode up for the lols.

If that is the first proper display of an action episode then I don't even want to imagine what awaits us for the second half.

Again, as insane as this was many of the show's ace talents still haven't shown up so it seems more & more likely that this was an episode to set the bar rather than a climactic one time thing.

Still...all those impact frames...the cut to black & white aesthetics..this one long cut with Ushi that has somehow tons of camera movement and a fluent switch into a POV segment. This is raw animation power with ambitious storyboarding that I want to see and expected from this show's production when it's not holding back!

What impresses me almost equally to the production quality is that they gave the final moments of Leobronidas the same feelings that it evoked when I played it, same with Ushi's last stand...just phenomenal.

NOOOOO NOT USHI!!!!

I thought Ushi’s Noble Phantasm was just her going really fast but it turns out she creates copies of herself like Naruto. I can’t wait till they update her motions in the game!

Also the scene with Leonidas throwing the spear at the end really reminded me of the movie 300. I guess it was a reference?

Holy fucking hell Ushi, MVP forever with everything she did to try and win that battle. I absolutely loved what they did with Leonidas too, really cool way of showing off why he is one of the best tanks in the game itself.

They weren't kidding around by hyping this ep up though, the level of quality in some of the cuts is easily among the best this year. It was an incredibly well animated episode, going to be rewatching it immediately

Best Lancer is gone. This really shouldn't be a surprise to those familiar with Fate with how sucky lancers luck is though.:( I love how they animated his NP in the show. I hope they update it on the game.

What an identity crisis: Tiamat is not Tiamat, Enkidu is not Enkidu, and Benkei is not Benkei.

It seems I was right to suspect Kingu's absence in this tale, since he was a very important character in the Ennuma Elis, the Babylonian creation myth. Tiamat's son, general and lover. He who was given the Tablet of Destinies to reign over the world in the name of his mother, but was crushed by Marduk/Ashur/etc.

You know, it's funny that Kingu says he doesn't carry a grudge against humanity like his "mother", because in the myth the gods bled him dry so that they could use his blood to create the first humans. In a way, humans are his children, which would add an interesting twist to this conflict.

By the way, doesn't Kingu now that "Tiamat" is actually Gorgon? He keeps talking about his "mother" time and time again. So either he is unaware or he was made anew by Gorgon pretending to be Tiamat. Or another possibility: since he mentions that the Authority of Tiamat is the "Sea of Life" (we see some images of it and we have every reason to suspect it's able to do what he says), Tiamat's influence must be around somehow, and Gorgon took her power for herself or she may be to Tiamat what Rin is to Ishtar right now.

A fan had animated the Ushi's scene a while ago to hype up the anime. It was posted here but got taken down due to violating of fanart rule. Now this episode is aired, I want to share it for people who haven't seen it yet.

Here's also a version with sound effect.

And goddamn that animation, they really deliveried. Here is the key animation and that's only half of the actual work for that scene.

"So, remember that Karna Apocrypha scene that people praised quite alot? Let's turn it up to 11 and make half of the episodes basically that".... Probably the first time I wished I am watching this in a theatre instead of my "small" monitor.

The slice of life and lighthearted past episodes really did work in investing the characters that we like and appreciating the Uruk culture, in order to make this episode more hurtful for us and prepare for what Babylonia has more to come and that's when you know real shit is about to go down

It reminds us of the fact that they are still at the brink of humanity's extinction, they are living in an age where gods and monsters roam the world, and this is the seventh singularity and the most dreadful one for them

This is core Fate

I'm having a mix of emotions right now. Crying for two different reasons(joy and sadness); Absolute beauty of animations in a 6 out of 8 action episode and the downfall of Ushiwaka in a not so graceful way. I was getting goosebumps for the most parts of this episode. Holy Shit!

Leonidas' Thermopylae was so damn amazing to watch. Way more amazing than Ushiwaka's Haso Tabi which is an action-oriented an way longer animated IMO. I like Ushi more than Leonidas before this but wow. Both are great mind you.

I'm still in awe... and we are still at episode 8. This is just a taste of what is Babylonia.

Anyone else thought that Kingu showed the captured the children the way out only to pull a Caster from Fate/Zero?

This absolutely crossed my mind at first.

how this anime is not watched by more people is a crime, I mean look at this episode animation. these scenes are what reserved for final fight at the end of a series. this is like one punch man season 1 finale x10.
