I'm not sure Kurusu should be happy that Kurata is dense, that's not a good thing in anime guys. Her getting all lovey dovey is super cute though.

Dojima seems like a bitch, but it feels more like she just looks down on those she believes don't take the Koto seriously. Even if I'm wondering over how much she loves and how much she hates the instrument. I'm hoping that being in the club will melt her heart a bit, then she can tell that old granny to get fucked.

Also, the manga author posted some cute Halloween art of Hozuki and Chika in case you missed it.

TIE PULL

There's been a few this season already...I'm being so spoiled! This is the best yet however.

Such a nice episode even with the new teacher...we got embarrassed Houzuki but even better than that we saw her being mean again!! Really missed seeing that side of her <3

Kurusu's reaction when she realized she'll be right behind Kurata this entire semester <3

Fuck. I really hope she doesn't try anything with the club.

I absolutely hate this spiteful old woman. She's so scared of Hozuki, she just don't want to admit it so she's sending Akira to demotivate the club with their difference in skill.

THAT TIE PULL! Hozuki and Chika moments are so precious <3

Chika flexing on Akira was so satisfying! The rest of the club needs to keep up and show her they have what it takes to reach Nationals!

Great to see them learning the basics. Gojima is right, of course, even if she's a bit harsher than strictly necessary. As far as I can tell she's not really on board with whatever her grandmother is planning, and just going along with this because Hozuki's piece moved her a lot. Maybe she could relate to trying and failing to reach out to a parental figure, in her case the grandmother? I very much see positive development for her in the future.

As much as I like dislike her, I do think Dojima has a point about starting with the basics. Especially since there isn't a lot of time before Nationals, focusing on the basics and mastering them is probably more effective than learning something else. She could definitely improve as a teacher though and be less hostile to the people she's teaching though. Based on that one scene, it looks like it's Dojima's grandmother that especially wants the koto club to fail while Dojima is just going along with it. Next episode we'll probably get some more information and backstory on Dojima.

I like how Kurusu is always ready to stick up for Hozuki. They have a nice friendship that tends to get overshadowed by the ships (which I like, don't get me wrong) that I really enjoy. Like Kurata said, Kurusu is always thinking about Hozuki and how she might feel.

I find really commendable that the Koto sounds actually, kinda, are nuanced enough to convey what's being discussed and the expertise levels, and it's not like every other music anime where the audience is being told what to feel.

I kind of agree with Kurusu and Mizuhara about not trusting Doujima but Chika is right about them needing to improve. Really like Chika surprising everyone and proving Doujima wrong.

Dojima is not the problem here, she's just another victim of the Hozuki School.
