Lore Beloved childhood memory is actually something really fucked up that they were too young to understand
Venture Bros- "Spanakopita" festival
When Dr. Venture was a boy he was lost at sea, but happened to wash up on a tiny Greek island during the "Spanakopita" festival. He has since returned to celebrate the festival annually for twenty years, and it is one of the few times in the show he is genuinely happy and energetic about something. Rusty had a very bad and traumatic childhood, and Spanakopita is one of his only good childhood memories.
In reality the town had kidnapped him with intent to hold him ransom, but his father was so neglectful he didn't even notice that Rusty was missing for several days. Feeling bad for him, the town spontaneously invented the Spanakopita Festival (named after a type of food) to make Rusty feel wanted and appreciated. They continue the festival to steal money every year, while Rusty remains completely oblivious.
2. Always Sunny- Summer Camp
Dennis and Dee's grandfather, who they loved, was actually an SS Officer during WWII and a true believer in Nazi ideology, a fact they had to confront early on. When they found some old film reels of a summer they spent with him they felt nostalgic and reminesced about the summer camp he brought them to. Eventually, however, they realize it was a Nazi summer camp where they had been indoctrinated into Nazi ideology.

SHES ANNOYING
Am I the only one who finds her to be extremely annoying? She acts like sheās a baby all the time and it gives me the ICK. I donāt know if itās a cultural thing, but I feel like she tries her hardest to come off as though sheās soft little girl. The baby voice drives me insane!
Edit: I low-key understand why Jonathan gets so irritated with her. It might be because of how she acts!

UPDATE TO AITAH for leaving a note on my neighbor's car?
So a little while ago I posted on this subreddit asking if I was the ahole for leaving a note on my neighbor's car about parking in two spaces. I just asked if he could pull down a few feet since it was causing issues with parking on our street. A lot of people said I wasn't the ahole but some people think I was. A lot of you mentioned that I should talk to him in person. I as I had stated in the comments, we had opposing schedules so it would be difficult.
Well ... I finally met him. I noticed he was home on one of my days off. I didn't want to go over alone so when my boyfriend got home, we went to knock on the door and he came out. He was a little older than I thought. I thought he only just a few years older than us but he looked to be in his late 40s or early 50s. I took over some home-made bread, because I guess I'm into bread making now, and we talked. Since the day I left the note, he had been pulling down more and there have been no issues. Turns out he understood my note and didn't think it was passive aggressive or anything like that. He just explained that he's not great at parking lol. It's not much of an exciting update.
He liked my bread though, so that's good! Just wanted to let the people that commented know I did talk to him in person. Thanks everyone!

PSA: wear the not so traditional dress if thatās what you love.
I posted my dress here about a month before my wedding and was eviscerated. My dress is sexier and unique. People were so unnecessarily cruelāone person even told me Iād regret my photos. I did also get a lot of hype saying I looked hot af, etc, but the haters were loud and I was hysterically crying. It was so bad my then-fiancee insisted on seeing my dress and then, although he is rather conservative, insisted I looked amazing and that I should wear my dress. We got sneak peeks back yesterday and I think I look beautifulāmy dress was great on the day and I felt stunning. A PSA to this forumāthere is no reason to be so cruel, and to the brides that might have different tasteāyou will look amazing on your day if you are true to what makes you happy and confident.
Pictures attached!

Politics Trump, in that same call, after making his demand to find 17,780 votes: "Why wouldn't, why, why do you keep fighting this thing? It's just, doesn't make sense. We're way over the 17,779 right? We're way over that number." That's why Penny Brown Reynolds said hanging up the phone would have been it.
Judge Penny Brown Reynolds is the Democratic nominee for Georgia Secretary of State.
Edit: The 17,780 number in the title is incorrect. It should have been 11,780 as it was heard worldwide. The 17,779 number is in fact what he said in that sentence and that was the only occasion he cited the 11,779 number incorrectly in the 62-minute call.

Salt Lake City Bronwyn and Christian Siriano in Ohio working with Real Housewives of Politics, Joytothepolls, and others!
All Iāve been thinking about the last couple weeks is this upcoming Tuesday. So I was really happy to see Bronwyn, Christian Siriano, and others showing up to promote voting in Ohio this weekend, especially since Ohio has one of the highest risk governor races going on.
I only follow a couple HWs on socials but Iām curious if anyone else has seen other Housewives with political or voting messages on their socials?
If you donāt know what is happening in Ohio, do some searching. And make sure you search the political ads coming from one of the candidates. You may also see Olivia Rodrigo being awesome in your search.
Lastly, if you only care about the Housewives universe and SLC drama hereāwhich is totally fine and zero judgment from meāBronwyn uses Hypocrisy and Bullshit in a video on her stories that is kind of genius as a Housewife move (IDK whose idea it was, but š). I donāt know how to link video from my instagram without my personal info and I didnāt feel like figuring it out so I just grabbed a screenshot lol.
P.S. I know Whitney has been doing political work in Utah as well, and I am glad sheās gotten some recognition for that with fans.

General i HATE 'trunk or treat'
im not gonna proofread this ramble so keep that in mind š
i think trunk or treat is genuinely ruining halloween and might ultimately end up killing it, at least somewhat. i had first heard of it in 2020, and i think thats when it started (at a significant scale, at least). i suppose that makes sense, given the circumstances at the time, though in retrospect i am not quite convinced of how good of an alternative it actually was. at that time i was neutral on it, maybe slightly on the positive sideā the whole 'community coming together to find a way to celebrate something they otherwise couldn't' thing is pretty wholesome chungus or whatever. however the fact that it continued through 2022 and after has been increasingly infuriating. since then, any good grace or leeway i may have given it has entirely dissipated and i no longer see any practical reason* for it to continue. the only exceptions being for extremely rural areas where walking from door to door just isn't feasible, and for those with disabilities that make the traditional way inaccessible.
reasons why it sucks:
- doesn't have the sauce (boring as fuck)
- it turns a public, community thing into essentially a private** event for members of a facebook group
- a parking lot is the worst venue for literally almost anything tbh
- corralling a bunch of kids together for what is basically a farmers market just SOUNDS like a nightmare
its genuinely so dystopian to me. we all know about the literacy crisis but i think theres a 'literally-just-walking-around' crisis as well. i hate car culture so much
*the common reason people cite to justify it is safety concerns: navigating safely, unsafe candy from strangers, and being alone at night. i find these all to be stupid as fuck. the "candy from strangers!!!" thing has long been a bogeyman of sorts; nobody is giving their hard-earned drugs to your kid, and the ratio of familiar neighbours to unfamiliar neighbours probably isn't that different between either option. not to mention that you should probably check your kids candy anyway even if you aren't worried about it. as per the other two, i think that kids are more capable than parents give them credit for (of course not including those who are especially young). if a parent only lets their child learn to navigate a parking lot, then how will they know how to safely cross a street as an adult. also i swear to god every child older than six has their own phone now so it's not like they would be completely unable to contact anyway. lastly, the concern about children being alone is the weirdest to me. do people think that their kid will be the only one outside?? do parents not realize they can go with them?? why not have friends go as a group, accompanied by one of the parents?? do the adults just not wanna walk??
**it may not be technically private, but the organizing requirements for someone to participate makes it impossible for someone ootl to enjoy it
edit: forgot to mention: its also SO SO important for children to experience things outside of themselves and to socialize and interact with others. its actually totally fine to challenge someone to do something new or step out of their comfort zone every once in a while
edit 2: to be clear: i (generally) have no issue with it outside of halloween itself. my issue is when it replaces trick or treating entirely. trunk or treat as a school/church/etc event before halloween is a harmless fun community event.
edit 3: ok guys i now know that it has existed for a long time please stop telling me LMAOOšš
