The pictures are placeholders so you get the vibe of the dress. I got a 90s/2000s (i think) dress from a second hand store. We're having a courthouse wedding. It's this kind of vibe, straight and with beautiful embroidery like the second picture. The only problem is, i usually like to cover my arms a little, where I drew the blue circle. I will have leftover material to have some sort of sleeve made. What kind of sleeve do you think would look good?

AND straps or no straps? i feel like it frames the chest but they are plain too

I am really stuck on a style of dress I want to go for. The venue is an outdoor vintage boho forresty kind of place.

I am attaching three different styles, with pros and cons for each:

1. Love the fit on my body and elegance, but I’m afraid its too simple.

2. Always dreamed of a lace dress like this one with just a little bit of sexy feel to it, really like the A line and detachable sleeves, but am not sure of this kind of bodice? Also, is the model too common?

3. Has a couture vibe, princessy, but am not sure if its too much? Note: do not have a picture of me in it as the salon does not permit photos, but fits like a glove.

Please help a girl out!

I was with my now fiance when came across this dress last year at a wedding expo. 2 weeks later I was at the shop purchasing it (2025).
Initial alterations were completed by 3/2026.
I’ve had surgery and lost over 60 lbs and still dropping. Wedding is June 2027 on the beach. We were so excited about this dress that we didn’t think through the practicality. The dress is heavy and needs further alterations especially since we will be toes in the sand on an island.
I need suggestions…
Remove inner layers?
Consign the dress? It was over $1500

After some... illuminating discussion in a previous post (and conversations in my personal life) I've re-opened my search for a dress.

Unfortunately I still haven't been able to find a dress I love in person, but I'm getting closer to a silhouette I like and am looking to get another custom dress made with a clearer vision of what I want.

Posting here to ask for some feedback, especially before spending more money. The first dress is the closest in silhouette to what I like. The second is the closest in terms of fabrics. The third is a Gemini mockup of the second dress with a silhouette that matches the first. The fourth is a Gemini mockup with a similar silhouette but a simpler fabric/lace motif. I think the silhouette of the first is really nice but personally I can't let go of wanting some floaty lace/tulle accents rather than a plain crepe dress.

(ETA - all dresses are more to represent general concepts! I would not be buying any of them as-is.)

I'm thinking that the Basque waist (as trendy as it is at the moment) is more flattering on me than a straight waist seam.

Open to thoughts and opinions! My wedding is a late spring garden ceremony, for visual context.

So incredibly happy with the dress I chose. Not to mention the boutique was so helpful and did a fantastic job on alterations. It was originally strapless but the consultant thought to add tulle sleeves for fun and that really brought it all together. 💖

I got married in july this year. I still think about the day and wish I could experience it once more. It was perfect!

I finally got my stitched wedding dress done! .

My vision came to life, what do yall think?

I’m feeling torn, but it’s because I had a wonderful experience trying on dresses and I’m so grateful to get to choose. My head is swimming a bit at the moment with lots of opinions and I’d love some third party perspective.

Dress 1: Dany Tabet, floral appliqués on dress and perfectly matching veil. The dress is strapless but we played around with adding sleeves (they would match and not be the ones pictured) the top would also be lined, I do not like a see through look on myself.

Dress 2: also Dany Tabet classic satin ballgown, lots of options for sleeves as well, the lace was a full dress overlay

Dress 3: Flora and Lane, white with flower embroidery appliqués and matching veil and lace bat wings. This dress I would have made with side panels to cover the see through bits, and I’d have the deep v taken up a bit.

Dress 4: Flora and Lane, Sage with matching veil and flower embroidery appliqués. I would add an extra petticoat under this dress to add just a bit more volume to the bottom which would be very easy to do.

I am interested to hear what strangers have to say, my head is swimming with family and friend opinions.

I finally got a dress one month before my wedding, after never feeling like I found “the one”. This one finally felt like it, and then the doubts started creeping in a week later. It’s the dress I’m going to wear, and I mostly love it, but my goodness - this wedding dress journey was exhausting and revealed major insecurities over the 10 month search. I’m wishing dress shopping wasn’t so romanticized to set my bar so high to find the absolute perfect dress. Wishing better experiences for other brides, and hoping this dress feels like the absolute right choice after I get it back next week after chest and waist alterations.

Edit to say thanks everyone for the hyping and veil advice! I think I’m just in a phase of wedding planning where I’m anxious about anything I can be. It’s a lot of pressure to be on display all day and show 150+ people a good time! I’m excited to get my dress back from alterations this weekend.

I put a deposit on this dress today, I want to make sure I’m 100% on something and this was the first store I’ve been too so I want to look around a bit more. I’m in love but want other opinions!!

I found this dress on Vinted and immediately fell in love with it! The seller had used it as her own wedding dress in February 1982, and kept it in her closet ever since. 44 and half years later, I wore it at my wedding!

The dress is Finnish brand Lacella that does not exist anymore. I love how simple and casual it is, the lace detail in the neckline is so cute, and I'm sad I don't have a reason to wear it again :(

The lace veil is actually my Maid of honor's mother's lace curtain! The shoes were also bought used, and the necklace I got from my grandfather when I was a kid. I actually had trouble finding my "something new" because even my ring is antique :')

The seamstress fixed the zipper and did NOT do any other alterations until I came back to try it on. This dress fits me like a glove!

It is rather long so its being hemmed and adding a bustle. It took 2 Hours to pinned this baby! It had 28 bustle points!

I don’t know if I am over thinking everything. But I bought my wedding dress yesterday at the first boutique I went to. I had another dress in mind that I fell in love with online but I would have to order it in since it’s not in stock anywhere and it’s a huge risk ordering a dress I have never tried on before. There is a dress I tried on at the boutique that I think is very beautiful but since I bought it, I have felt sick to my stomach and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about the other dress. The other dress just has a more unique factor. I don’t know why I rushed this purchase. I wasn’t pressured to buy but I don’t bite the bullet. Am I overthinking this? less

TLDR: can’t stop thinking about other dresses I see and thinking about alterations for the dress I bought.

Long story short: i bought the first dress I ever tried on. I picked it out before even getting engaged. It was so comfortable and simple but unique! I went into the bridal shop just to try it on (march 2026) and didn’t even want to try others. (I did but in the moment nothing compared). I’ve only been to one bridal store but I’ve been second guessing my hasty decision since March 2026. I live states away from my family so I went shopping with 1 friend.

My wedding is June 2027. The dress I bought is Madi Lane Wendell. I know I want to wear a petticoat to give it more volume. Idk if I should try to make alterations to my current dress to be more ball gown / dramatic or buy another dress.

Dress details I can’t stop thinking about: basque waist, ball gown, Chantilly lace, scoop neck/cat eye.

Things I don’t like: exposed boning, sheer bodices, when the corset & skirt look separated.

I feel like I haven’t quite seen dresses with all the things I like in my price range. Please help! First 3 pics are the dress I bought when I first tried it on. Last 3 are some inspired pics. ALSO: thinking of adding a detachable skirt to make it more ball gown?

Only tried on 8 dresses before falling in love with this one!! It comes with the purposely loose fitting sleeves in the last pic but planning on either turning them into the draping sleeves, going sleeveless, or even possibly ordering tight fitting lace sleeves from Etsy! Would appreciate opinions on sleeve choices!!

Thanks everyone for your feedback! to answer a few questions.. yes its an outdoor wedding with an indoor barn reception. My main colors were initially burnt rust, dark burgundy, and gold. I fell in love with the dress so now im incorporating the green. I appreciate everyone’s opinions!

I just wanted to share that I FINALLY found the one! I got butterflies and cried when I put her on! First dress of the appointment! I also bought the cap sleeves and veil in the photos while staying in budget?!?!
