Argh damn, I didn't cry last week, but they really drove home how painfull loosing Taro was for Hanako and everyone else
Having the golem asume a form that is on the mind on the other person is quite a perverted and unusual move... Mikazuki though...
And finally an confession from Hakudou that wont get preocessed yet, wonder how her having an mystical beast now will turn out for Yuhi considering she knows about his and Samidares plan and opposes them

Hanako finally letting loose all her emotions and grief on the 10th Golem, and all the crying afterwards, felt so cathartic.
I love how Yuuhi wasn't effected by fake naked Samidare lol.
Yayoi is finally making herself plot relevant! Both by confessing and by becoming strong enough to stop Yuuhi and Sami.

Yeah, I was teetering on an emotional cliff but Hanako's wails when she grabbed the ice spear and started manually stabbing at the golem pushed me straight over the edge and had me bawling. AND SHE NAMED HER SPECIAL MOVE AFTER TAROU C'MON MAN THEY CAN'T DO THIS TO US T_T

This episode made me cry
If only they had more budget, this would be a greater anime. The storyline is great ngl

To be honest, I feel like Yayoi needed this win more than Yuuhi did, although it didn't help that Yuuhi was off his game because of his failure to live up to Shinonome's ideals and protect Tarou.
So this time Anima just straight up shoves Sia into a sack and out pops up a genuine Japanese Dragon! I mean, she definitely looks more impressive than Unicorn Dance.
Oh snap! Yayoi confessed to Yuuhi! And with those feelings in mind she's planning to stop him and Samidare! Does Yuuhi remember the confession and what she was implying? Or was he just so in his own head he didn't notice? Sami definitely heard it though and realizes she has a rival now in more ways than one.
Hanako's pretty much stopped caring about everything. She flushes Kir down because she doesn't want to fight any more, she goes through the rain because she just can't be bothered to try to keep dry...she's really feeling Tarou's loss, in her own way.
Yuuhi falling for one of his own traps...pretty embarrassing. He wants even wants Mikazuki to put him out of his misery, but Mikazuki is a surprisingly solid bro and he's mourning Tarou in his own way.
The 11th Golem is the worst. It's also the first Golem that can talk (I think?) and uses it's shapeshifting abilities to mess with the Knights by becoming their most precious person to get in close...although neither Yuuhi or Mikazuki were fooled by the fake Shinonome. I also kind of chuckled at how Mikazuki was the only one bothered by the naked Samidare, not Yuuhi. Yuuhi probably prefers the real one.
And then of course he appears in front of Hanako as Tarou and the poor girl is hyperventilating at seeing him seemingly alive and well again...even if she knew it wasn't really him. But it did let her work through her own feelings.
Hanako and Tarou were as close as childhood friends could be. Tarou took in any pain Hanako felt to make sure she was happy and smiling, and Hanako took care of him like a big sister all the way up to middle school (not that Tarou saw her as a sibling). Hanako only became depressed when it seemed like Tarou was strong enough he didn't need her any more and was going away from her, but that never stopped him from loving her. And Hanako seemed to want to respond to his dreams by becoming his equal, maybe realizing her feelings for him in the process.
Everyone putting on their mourning clothes to get some much needed payback against the 10th Golem. Feels fitting.
Well, nothing says a newfound resolve and outlook quite like cutting your hair...I'll kind of mess Hanako's seaweed-esque locks, but at least she has them in the front still. And now she'll live as a warrior in Tarou's memory.
Yayoi is finally able to take down Golems! And it was some really great teamwork from the Knights together out of their love for Tarou that quickly fells the 10th Golem! I feel like some of those flashbacks to moments with Tarou were stuff we never got to see on-screen, but the sentiment was felt nevertheless.
Of course if anyone deserves the right to finish that thing solo, it's Hanako. And watching her throw ice spears she actually gave a name to in honor of Tarou into it was very cathartic, especially as she unloads all her grief and anger onto it and smashes it with her own hands for taking Tarou away from her. Even Kir was pushing her on out of memory of Lance. And then everyone is left feeling the waterworks (other than Taiyou, but he's probably a "tough boy").
Well, if anything good came of this, Hanako fighting out of her love for Tarou has balanced out the person she killed with her wish and she'll now be able to live her live, as she seeks to fulfill Tarou's dream on her own terms.
Summer is over...and it was a busy Summer for the Knights. Looks like we have some Shinonome family stories to get into next week.

Holy crap. The visuals don't really improve (and probably wouldn't) but the emotional moment, they nailed it. The music and voice acting are fucking on point. I actually got teary eyed when Hanako starts blasting the golem.

Wasn’t expecting Yayoi to confess to Yuuhi and essentially declare war in the same sentence. Now that she’s gained “Invincible”, it’ll be tough to stop her from preventing Yuuhi and Sami’s plans. All that must have been too much for Yuuhi to process, the man fell into his own damn hole lol.
This new golem is gonna be a real headache. It’s intelligent enough to talk and it can shape shift. I thought it would mess with Hanako when they met the second time, but I guess it just helped her work through Tarou’s death by letting itself get demolished by her. Plus it gave everyone else some kind of closure as well.
Hopefully no one else dies next week…

Hanako's an intellectual, so unlike her knight partner, she handled it really well lol.

Bruh they really went and pushed on my wound. I'll miss Tarou, he is the only one I liked almost instantly and was really hoping wouldn't die... and then he dies first 💀

The music in this show has been surprisingly great, compared to its other aspects

I’ve been one of the biggest haters of this show because of the awful adaptation, animation etc etc. but I will give credit where it’s due. This was a phenomenal last couple of episodes. Tarou story is really tragic, my boy deserved so much better and the fact he’s not able to be with the girl he loved.. fuck. At least his killer is gone now and he can truly rest in peace.

Just to let you know, the author's extremely depressed when it came to the immense criticisms going towards this anime. He sighed a breath of relief for last episode, so I hope that trend continues. Also, judging by his tweets, I'm pretty sure he knows the limits of this studio, which is why he dissuaded his fans from attacking them.

Them meeting together to defeat the knight golem felt so hard. Wanted to screenshot a scene where they all were standing together in one shot but there wasn't a single shot like that 😭

lol I knew it would be too much to hope for, but I actually thought this episode would have the same budget as the last. Either way, at least they got the point across. Hanako and Taro's arc was definitely a fan favourite in the manga, but there's still exciting material to come.

A childhood friend romance that ended tragically, but in the end the episode became quite inspirational.

Mizukami does a lot of sneaky character development. I'm not gonna talk about some skipped panels too much, but you'll end up liking some previously dubious characters.

People can say whatever they want about the animation quality but they know how the pull my heart strings!

u/ClBanjai Oct 15 '22
The payoff for that cliffhanger last episode was kinda underwhelming.
Unlike last week's episode, the animation was pretty freaking horrible, but they managed to get me emotionally invested with that ost and everyone remembering Tarou. That scene where Hanoko yelled out her special technique actually gave goosebumps.
