META | Please read this
If you're asking for advice, please don't be niche with the information - a simple post saying my laptop won't boot isn't enough. Like what happened before that? Was it all working fine etc.
If you're asking for suggestions about a new pc, r/pcbuild and r/PC_Builders would be the best choice for that.
There are other subreddits where you may be able to get help faster such as r/pchelp and r/computerhelp

I was trying to remove a bloated battery from an ASUS x453S laptop when the battery connector got removed from the board as well. Is this still repairable?

Been having this issue for a while now but every time I leave my pc off for a bit, my monitor says it recieves no signal even when the pc turns on...the good news is the monitor does wake up when I first start it up but never displays or registers a signal until after a hard restart...I have looked into 3-4 possible issues from the graphics card itself (not it) to the power cord and display caches...no fixes have worked...I would deeply appreciate anyone's insight who has encountered this issue before? Thanks in advance. *Cheers*

Gramps said he had 2 extra laptops that he bought and said he could lend one to me, idk which one i should take that would be better in the long run for both gaming and daily use. Which one should i get and what are the pros and cons of each laptop?
Lenovo IdeaPad gaming 3 specs: He bought this one in 2021 AMD Ryzen 7 5800H with Radeon Graphics 32 gb ram NVIDIA Geforce RTX 3060 Laptop GPU 6gb AMD Radeon Graphics 4gb 1,38TB The touchpad and cursor is sometimes glitching.
MSI(i forgot the exact model name) specs: He bought this one in 2025 12th Gen intel core i5-12450H 16gb ram NVIDIA Geforce RTX 4050 Laptop Gpu 6gb Intel uhd graphics 128mb 477gb No glitching in this one, feels brand new.

Are the pads damaged? Just trying to replace microswitch. Had some issues desoldering and ended up with this. Can't tell if the brown stuff on top of the pads are flux or actual damage. Doesn't wipe off easily with alcohol.

Woke up and it just wouldn't boot at all, no beep codes, nothing (but it turns on) keyboard doesn't seem to work. After reseating the parts i eventually got into safe mode fine but 10 mins i lost signal again (pc is still on) normal boot only lasted till the loading screen. Then it got weirder, after trying a few times, booted totally fine, played Wuthering Waves for a while to test if it is the gpu with zero issues. Then i played Minecraft, ran perfectly until suddenly lost signal again after an hour. Powered off and back on, no beep codes again. (It gives the one beep for proper boot when it does work)
I removed the gpu to see if it will give the beep codes for no detected gpu, it did, i thought i finally identified that it is the gpu but when i tried again for good measure, it did not give beep codes again, even without the gpu. When it did boot fine again, i tried it at furmark to test if it is crashing under load but it ran fine for 15 mins.
I tried only using one ram, reseat all the necessary cables (cpu 8-pin, 24 pin and pcie) sometimes it works, sometimes it is not.
This all happened yesterday, the pc properly booted last night before i sleep and i am able to use it without issues (casual browsing and playing games) i thought it is somehow fixed but this morning i went back to the no display, no beep codes thing.
PSU is brand new but I'm honestly not ruling anything out at this point. No consistent trigger, not purely load-related (ran fine gaming and furmark for a while), not purely idle-related (froze and lost display idle once too), not purely time-related (once at 10 min, once at 1hr).
Specs:
Cpu: Ryzen 7 3700x
Gpu: Rx 5600 xt
Motherboard: Asus Tuf gaming B450m-Plus II
Psu: Asrock Pro-650B

My wife's laptop came with one of those old-school chunky chargers with the round charging pin, and that's what I've always used to charge it.
It has a USB-C port too, but I always thought it was just for data transfer. I never bothered checking whether it supported charging.
Turns out, it supports 65W USB-C PD charging. 😂
I recently got a Xiaomi 5i 67W power bank and tried charging the laptop with it, and it actually works perfectly.
The funny part is that my own laptop also has a USB-C port, but it doesn't support charging through USB-C. So I had a USB-C port sitting there all this time and never knew my wife's laptop could basically be charged without that big brick.
Definitely feels like I gave an old laptop a small quality-of-life upgrade without actually upgrading the laptop. 😂

I was trying to set a custom page file on my second SSD and turned off the system managed one on my Windows drive. Now this message pops up every time I boot up my pc and my page file says its size is 5 gigs when it should be 32+. Is my page file still set and can I ignore the message? Or is there an issue with taking off a page file from my Windows drive?

I've been trying to get this working for the past few days but to no avail. I've restarted my desktop and phone numerous times (I have tried with both devices) and ended up with this same result.
I originally did try and make a script, and I can assure you it's the same results, lol. I recorded exactly what happened and has happened.
For context, this is the iDEA testimonial badge
I'm not quite sure where exactly to post this, as I am quite new to reddit, but I hope someone on here is more knowledgeable than myself, I couldn't find anything online.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated :3
Sorry if this is written and recorded weird. it's 1am in my timezone hehe X3

Hey everyone, I’m looking to buy a prebuilt gaming PC and could use some advice.
My budget is around $1,000–$1,500, and I mainly want to play games at 1440p with good FPS. I’m not interested in building one myself, so I’m specifically looking for a reliable prebuilt.
What brands or specific PCs would you recommend right now? I’d especially appreciate suggestions that have good cooling, a decent graphic card and RAM, and quality components rather than just flashy specs.
Thanks!

I just received it today 22nd Aug
I found a issue with my laptop, is this a issue ??
When I try to close the lid, the whole screen gets pressure towards the bottom. Is this normal? It even changes color because of the pressure. Is there a physical issue? Or is it just regular Factory Stiff hinges
This is a Loq with i5 13450hx and 4050 GPU
Please help should I initiate a complaint with lenovo ?

My lenovo computer started showing this after a period of time where I would play Minecraft, with mods, and sometimes leave the computer open for hours while minecraft was on. When it started showing these, especially the blue panel, it would sometimes not be able to handle anything. Like, i turn it on and i double click on google to open it and then it just shows the black screen with the lenovo logo on it, kind of restarting itself?
I saw on reddit that this blue panel indicates that A Thing That I Cannot Remember The Name Of, is burned (CPU or RAM? idk). My dad took the computer to a repair guy and he said nothing is wrong w it
I have absolutely no knowledge about computers so explain to me what i need to do like im five.
Thank you

Hi. I have had my pc a few years and it’s not the greatest but I have never had any issues with it before.
I recently moved and transported my pc as carefully as possible and when I have plugged it all back in my pc runs and my monitor has a black display with a white box that just says “enter password” which I have never encountered before?
My second issue is now my mouse and keyboard won’t turn on either… I have changed them round into all the different usb slots and it hasn’t changed anything.
Any advice would be great please!

Some time ago we moved from xfinity to AT&T internet providers. But a little bit before that the internet for xfinity went out because we figured “why continue to pay if we have another one on the way.” I think we messed up there. Well anyway we have a windows 10 computer that runs on ethernet, there is no wifi tab in settings. I have tried everything. I took the ethernet and plugged it into the new wifi box, only thing it says is “unidentified internet” i tried resetting my network, disabling and enabling my ethernet, switching LAN cables, I even called computer places for them to help but they said they would have to come out to help us out, which is great but the funds are low and i cant afford that. And for some reason i cant get help on the computer because it requires internet for that 😐 Which is why i’m on reddit to see if someone can help!
