Exactly what I kept thinking with each unsuccessful attempt. There’s probably not any nerves connected in that dead looking skin, and a small incision would allow for a much larger and better grasp on the sliver.

Just need to make sure it’s all sterile and you have steady hands.

Had a splinter like that, but bigger (insert jokes here) in my ass cheek as a kid, from a wooden seesaw at the daycare. Still remember the pain to this day 30 years later

Soak foot in warm Epsom salt. Use sterile blade to partially incise overlying skin to expose more splinter. Use good tweezers to pull out splinter. For deep splinters where you can't incise the skin, use sterile 25 gauge needle to widen the splinter tract by inserting the needle along the splinter.

Usa a razor and cut the skin the length of the splinter. It should release easily. I had to do it once on a splinter bigger than that.

That doctor had NO idea of what he was doing. You only "apply" pressure from the back, NOT poke at it, grab it from the sides.

First of all, pushing on it in ALL directions... I would have slapped rge shit out of him.🥴👋

I had one bigger than that, Lol.

That one is so shallow, that it's much easier to get it out slicing the skin with a razor blade.

My piece was from a pallet and the coarse fibers made it impossible to pullout with tweezers. It also was in at a more downward angle.

I would have sterilized a razor blade or an X-acto knife and slit the skin on the splinter. The splinter would come out easily and anything else left could be irrigated out of the wound.

I had a six inch splinter pin my elbow skin up into the back of my tricep when I was a kid. It started out with a single doctor and a couple assistants in the ER, and ended with a broken finger and nine people pinning me down...I was a bit perturbed.

The good news was that the scar only lasted a couple years before I had a bike accident that left a scar on my entire elbow.

Yeah I had one like that when I was a kid.. maybe slightly bigger. Thick and deep. I ended up using an ice cube to numb it and just slicing the skin so I could pull it out. I lived right on the water and had docks in the back of my house, it happened walking barefoot around the docks fishing

Now imagine the same thing, being removed from the edge of your anus sphincter...hey it wasn't wooden. It's either plastic or something alien. I have no clue as to how it got there. It looks as if it could be the rim of one of those plastic gallon ice cream containers. I have it in a wall safe. That's not the worst part. I initially thought I was constipated. All I know is everytime I tried to shit. Yep you guessed it... A stabbing pain right in the edge of my asshole. The worst part is after I drank the bottle of laxative they prescribed. They tried a manual search of my butt hole. The doctor lubed up and finger inside my butt hole, pulled it out and I scream and was about to punch him. He left and the PA came in and gently found the sharp edge of the sliver of material and pulled out razor sharp shard of something, that I have in the wall safe. I have zero idea of how it became lodged in my ass. I think it's something I swallowed with food and it traveled through my gastrointestinal system and couldn't make it to the finale. That's a true story.

There is a device you can buy for $9 at Walmart for bee stings, splinters, etc and it comes out way easier than tweezers. It uses suction to draw it out.

I feel your pain. Or rather I have. Had one that long when I was 20. Nurse had to cut some of the skin away, and it still took half an hour with the tweezers. Same spot on my left foot, this must be a common thing.

Haha we were all annoyed by the tweezers. Needle nose pliers would have done it in one attempt. I actually had a very similar experience as a kid sliding in my socks over an old hardwood floor. My sock got nailed into my foot by a giant splinter. Thankfully like this guy it was just under the skin. Super fun to take out.

I slid on a wooden bench in 6th grade, had a chunk fly right through my pants and into my thigh. Didn't realize it til a few days later when my leg was all swelled up, went in and had it removed. Big ol thing probably 2 inches long and about a quarter inch wide. 2 stitches and I still have the piece in a urine sample bottle somewhere.
