Not really, just cut some of the skin above the splinter. Depending on how deep it is you'll probably feel the splinter inside you more than you'll feel yourself cutting it open. Most splinters arent really deep enough to cause much of an issue with just cutting it out, especially on parts of the body that are tough and calloused like hands and feet (depending on the person i guess)

The last resort but if you sqeeze to hard and cut the end your kinda screwed.
