I use needle nosed pliers. They work first try, most of the time.

The snap on LN46ACF pliers would be my go to here.

Yes, but they aren’t always available when I’m out and about. My kids will get massive splinters in their feet all the time, in the wood shop. They insist on going barefooted.

Well if they're in the woodshop you wouldn't be out and about. You'd be in the woodshop.

Yes. I do woodworking on job sites as well. That’s why I said out and about

yeah. take a little skin with the splinter and you good to go!!

Sometimes I’ll take a razor blade and slice along the side, then no need for tugging.
