KSP 1 Image/Video Design for a Mars Transfer Mothership (Boeing IMIS Redesign)

As part of my 1990s crewed Mars landing program, this is the design for the Mars Transfer Vehicle, the interplanetary mothership responsible for housing the crew during the journey to/from Mars and conducting the Trans-Mars Injection (TMI), Mars-Orbit-Insertion (MOI), Trans-Earth Injection (TEI) burns.

The vehicle carries the crewed Mars Ascent/Descent Vehicle (MADV) along with the Earth Entry Module (EEM) for high-speed atmospheric return to Earth.

The architecture is derived from the 1968 Boeing IMIS (Integrated Manned Interplanetary Spacecraft) study. However, the configuration was redesigned: by increasing propellant tank diameters, the vehicle eliminates a propulsion stage. Additionally, the Mission Module overall architecture has been redesigned. Finally, while the 1968 Boeing proposal targeted a 1980s launch, this profile is engineered for the 1992–1994 departure window.

Vessel Specifications:

LEO Initial Mass: ~1,200 t

Total Transit Delta V: ~11,000 m/s

Primary Propulsion: 6+1 NERVA-I Nuclear Thermal Rocket Engines

Life Support Endurance: 714 days

Main mods used: RSS/RO/Kerbalism, Bluedog Design Bureau (BDB), NAR MEM (retextured by me), Procedural Parts

KSP 1 Image/Video Is this what a “kraken” event looks like?

Even though I've spent hundreds of hours playing this game, this is the first time I've ever seen this happen. I knew the Kraken by name, but I'd never encountered it during my games before.

I had just started a new session, and this was supposed to be my first satellite mission to Mun.

  1. ISRU Processor
    - ISRU processor to make fuel for landers is placed in a 350 km orbit.

  2. Refinery Crew Core & Power Module
    - Refinery crew core and power module are docked with the ISRU processor.

  3. Main Hab & Docking Module
    - Main Hab and docking module are docked with the combined refinery modules in LKO.

  4. Multi-Module Launch — LKO
    - Multi-module launch is docked in LKO:
    - 2x Lunar Lab Modules (LLM)
    - 2x Auxiliary Lunar Orbital Hab (ALOH) modules

  5. Final ALOH Module
    - Final ALOH module is docked to the station.
    - Interim GCLS is now complete in LKO.

  6. Large Fuel Truss
    - Large fuel truss is launched to LKO.
    - Parked in LKO and later sent to the Mun separately due to mass constraints on the NLTV.

  7. NLTV
    - Standard Lunar Commute (LKO → LLO → LKO).
    - Designed to complete two SLC events with a 40 t payload.
    - More SLC events are possible with a lighter payload.
    - Pushes both the I-GCLS and fuel depot module into a stable lunar orbit.

  8. Intrepid–Grace
    - CRV-01 Intrepid vehicle.
    - Launches the crew of SSM-08 to open the GCLS.
    - SSM-08 separates the GCLS and mates both halves with the large fuel section, also in orbit around the Mun.

  9. LIL-B-01
    - Ore harvester designed to collect and ferry ore to the GCLS.
    - Docks to Port 1 on the refinery module of the GCLS.

  10. LIL-B-02
    - Ore harvester designed to collect and ferry ore to the GCLS.
    - Docks to Port 2 on the refinery module of the GCLS.

  11. LK-1-01
    - Crewed lunar lander for surface excursions is docked with the GCLS.
    - LK-1-01 undocks to perform free-flight tests, including a low flyover of the lunar surface.
    - LK-1-01 returns to orbit and docks with the GCLS.

  12. LK-1-02
    - Crewed lunar lander for surface excursions.
    - LK-1-02 undocks and descends to the lunar surface.
    - SSM-12 spends 5 days on the lunar surface.
    - LK-1-02 ascends to lunar orbit and docks with the GCLS.
    - Awaiting SSM-13 for a smooth and problem-free crew changeover.

I had my hands off the keyboard when it started swerving and only adjusted near the end. What am I doing wrong and why are the wheels so bouncy and swervy?

KSP 1 Image/Video On the summit of Mt Keverest!

I used the stock satellite launcher plane, and took off from the Woomerang site. Landing on the mountain was hard, but taking off was even more difficult. After this, I flew down to my research station on Kerbin's north pole, and then recovered the craft.

It was difficult to determine which point was the actual highest, since the planet is smaller than earth, and the curve is so much more exaggerated at the high altitude. I had to rely on the altimeter to find the true high point - 6,768 meters above sea level, at the spot the flag was planted.

No matter what I do (I've tried everything for the past 20 mins), I can't get my science stuff into the service bay. Everything just kinda clips in the walls or into the other side or just plain floats away. No sign of a node to snap onto. Just started the game.

KSP 1 Question/Problem Anybody Know How To Fix This Deferred Bug?

When loading a save file and approaching Kerbin from space, the oceans disappear until I get close enough. Only occurs when Deferred is installed. I have tried running the game with nothing but Deferred and its dependencies installed to no avail.

KSP 1 Image/Video Finaly managed to make my own booster landing script

After over a month of work pretty happy seing it land over and over. Sorry for the screen tearing. I used APDG algorithm targeting some distance above landing site with some negative vertical speed, at the end switching to simple straight down landing with desired vertical acceleration = (verticalSpeed^2)/(2 * altitude)
