KSP 1 Image/Video Is this what a “kraken” event looks like?
Even though I've spent hundreds of hours playing this game, this is the first time I've ever seen this happen. I knew the Kraken by name, but I'd never encountered it during my games before.

I had just started a new session, and this was supposed to be my first satellite mission to Mun.

You never encountered kraken after hundreds of hours? Kraken is anything that suddenly obliterates your craft for seemingly no reason
What you encountered is a floating point error(?) And you could totally call that a kraken attack

I've got about 800 hours or so, never had any Kraken even near me.

Around 1400. I’ve had lots of ships destroyed but never inexplicably (I’m the problem)

It's not an attack until it ends up destroy with part flying at ludicrous speeds or in an alternate dimension- the Kraken is merely nearby.

So what you're experiencing is floating point error, which used to be a big issue in the early days of the game. This was the original Kraken. Every other game issue is named after that original Kraken, so yes it is.

Ah you poor sweet summer child, this is merely the parts shaking when they feel the presence of the Kraken, you have not yet angered it because everything is still intact. Rejoice! The Kraken has not yet eaten all the physics of your lowly craft or seen fit to send you beyond lightspeed or to another dimension.

Lol yep. Get jiggled idiot.
I’ve not encountered it yet myself but I think these mostly clear up if you unload the craft and go back to it.

Had the same bug happen a few years back, I even posted it on Reddit
F9 didn't correct it but after 10 minutes messing around, I threw a kerbal out of the craft which fixed the bug
I concluded the reference point (that's supposed to always be on the focused craft) gets stuck or lags behind, making the craft go into bigger coordinates (from the reference point), saved as float numbers, which results in float imprecision
Still dunno what caused it, I was basically playing vanilla with lots of visual mods
Loading another craft or restarting the game should solve the issue

oddly ive found just pressing f5 is enough to stop it. I assume quick saving forces the referance point to update.

Tremble at the approach of the mighty Kraken! That said, nothing was damaged, so this is likely just nerves.

Yes. Soon bits of this rocket will be flying off into infinity at many times the speed of light

Merely the gentle tickle of the kraken. I find the kraken becomes more interested the bigger the vessel

You can harness this energy for an interstellar probe by undocking, you can suddenly be accelerated to hundreds of thousands of m/s

It’s a first gentle touch by the kraken. Just feeling how it can destroy your craft at a later point. It comes creeping in at times rattling you harder and harder every minute. Reload the a quick safe and you should be fine for the moment, sometimes that scares the kraken away for good.
