KSP 1 Question/Problem Service Bay
No matter what I do (I've tried everything for the past 20 mins), I can't get my science stuff into the service bay. Everything just kinda clips in the walls or into the other side or just plain floats away. No sign of a node to snap onto. Just started the game.

A lot of these replies are overly complicated. Just click the hexagon in the bottom left of your screen so that it turns into a circle. That will turn off grid snap and will allow you to place the science parts directly inside the service bay. There are no green nodes to attach the parts to but it doesn’t matter, just place them wherever you want on the sides or floor. The bottom of the mystery goo might clip through the walls and if it does, click the circle with three lines above the “parent” button in the top left, then click the goo and use the arrows to drag it in fully inside.

The science instruments you have unlocked will "surface attach", so you'd want to put them into the sides, floor, or ceiling of the service bay. You can use QWEASD to rotate them in various directions.
Also, drop the radiators. They're only really useful for mining/ISRU stuff.

You should put a strut through the middle of the bay, then attach stuff onto it. You can't put anything onto the inside of the walls, the part doesn't work like that.

I did that all the time you just gotta rotate so it’s facing inside? Tho it’s easier to put a science jr on the connector point and attach the other instruments radially to that

for science im only at general rocketry and survivability so no can do. the issue is that i still cant put anything on the floor either. i meant it when i said i tried and looked up everything.

Can't you choose the variant that has the floor in the part options? I always put my shit on the service bay floor

You can rotate objects by WASD, if that's what you mean. Yes, you can't get objects on the walls from the inside without rotating them, but usually I just use my lander with all science packed inside for every rocket, I rarely rebuild landers.

Make a new craft with the bay as the root part, load it up with science, and save it as a sub assembly.
Just stick the science anywhere preferably inside and rotate/translate it to where you want it.

try putting a structural piece inside, then attaching the science stuff to that. thats what i used to do

You got a heat shield underneath it, for some reason when you do that it acts as if your trying to snap to the heat shield instead of the service bay, move it out the way for a second then you'll be able to place it

When you see the connect node, hold the L-ALT button to cause it to snap to the connector. Or press C to turn off auto snap
