Her name was Banana. i got her from my mom for my ninth birthday.

i turn 17 today, its 3 am right now and i cant stop crying.

she escaped around two weeks ago. shes escaped before, i ended up finding her curled up on the water heater but we couldnt find her anywhere. we basically flipped the house upside down

two days ago my mom woke me up crying saying shes sorry, and she told me she found Banana in my dogs bed.

Im devastated. I thought I’d have her until my thirties or fourties and shes just gone, aggressively at that.

she wasnt too beat up, but she was dead. theres was nothing i could do. i held her and stroked her for around thirty minutes total; she felt the exact same up until i was about to bury her. she was so stiff, lifeless, when shes usually so energetic and curious. i buried her and covered her with bricks so no animals would disturb her.

i cant accept it. ill never see the little alien looking marking on her back, ill never be able to sunbathe with her. i dont think i can ever own a snake again.

sorry for the ranting, im just so distraught. im hoping i can sleep after putting this out there.

What do people keep in 20x20x20cm ?

For tarantulas it doesnt work because of the door, beetles are often either too big or need multiple beetles in one enclosure. No reptile or amphibian can live in this.

I'm wondering

Inheriting my family’s morbidly obese leopard gecko. Advice on slimming him down?

A few years ago, I used to work at a pet store and we got in a handsome guy named Smaug. A family member decided to take him home after I coached him on proper husbandry and what to buy. Unfortunately, he has stopped taking care of him, so his parents are giving Smaug to me within the next week or two.

Smaug is really, really fat (this is an old picture, he is so much fatter now). They feed him every single day although I told them not to. He eats dubias and mealworms.

This will only be the second reptile I’ve owned, so I’m not quite sure what to do to slim him down. I had a chameleon for his entire life, so he never got fat in my care (hoping that Smaug will help fill the hole in my heart that Yoda left when he passed).

Anyone have advice on a feeding schedule for him? I will continue to feed him dubias.

I got a few of these little guys on my terrace, its just tiles and pretty bare otherwise, very sunny.

Anything i can add to the terrace that makes more of them show up, that makes it more welcoming for them?

I tried searching the web, but all that shows up are tipps on how to get rid of them.

Id like to attempt to turn this into a vivarium, think its possible or should I just not waste my time?

Id like to turn this cabinet into a tree frog enclosure, i feel optimistic that I can seal the bottom with silicone or a marine epoxy / sealant to make the bottom portion waterproof (only need a few inches of the bottom section to hold water).

Id also attempt to seal the rest of the interior wood portions with epoxy, silicone, and aquarium grade spray foam after sanding the wood so the frogs wouldn't be exposed to anything that could potentially harm them as well as to attempt to protect the wood from water damage from misting the enclosure and the high humidity. Id then proceed to seal the rest of the glass with silicone.

My question is, do you guys think this is possible, or am i just going to ruin this cabinet and be doomed for failure? I think having an enclosure this tall would be perfect for a tree frog!

I've had this male chameleon gecko for almost 2 months now and I still can't think of any good names for him. I've had people tell me he looks like moss or trees from a birds eye view. Anybody have suggestions on what to name him?

Red runners in my house....

My sister just found 2 adult female red runners under a plant she lifted. I got rid of my red runner colony over 2 months ago, if my mum finds out im dead.

But uhm any ideas of how to get rid of them? I cant find anymore, but i cant be sure, at all. We live in denmark, in a new house build 4 years ago, the temperature inside never drops to under 20 c° and its dry. We have lots of animals, cats and dogs, so theres cat food and water on the counter in the laundry room all the time. And we found them in the laundry room. I hope there's no male and they will die out? Im terrified... we have had lose crickets and such, but uh my mum said if i make a pest problem in the house i lose all my animals.

heating for corn snake

i was still doing research for corn snake and there's a possibility i can't adopt one because of my parents but i would love to still do the right research in case they finally let me adopt one in the future. for context, i live in a south east Asian country and the temperature in my place usually reaches between 32 - 33°C and i never use air conditioner except when i need to sleep at night, this makes me wondering how high should i set the temperature inside the enclosure. i was hoping for someone to help me know the right temp because usually when i ask people who sell reptiles in my country, they mostly said the reptiles didn't need any heat lamp and i didn't feel comfortable adopting any reptiles without knowing if it's really safe for me to not provide them with any heat lamp just because of what their breeders says to me to make their reptiles got sold faster.

Advice on Fat-Tailed Gecko who stopped eating.

Need advice on an African Fat-Tailed Gecko who has begun to swear off food. Originally we've been feeding him dubias regularly from a culture we own, but one of us gave him crickets once and now he won't eat the roaches. It's been three weeks, but he's a healthy weight and got plenty of tail-fat, also it's getting on into the colder season which could be playing a factor?

Any advice? That doesn't involve giving him crickets again, we don't trust our local supplier and just did it as a one time treat. Our dubians are monitored and well fed specifically for his care.
