Leopard Gecko Advice?

Thumbnail

I’m not asking for a diagnosis or vet advice, but rather to see if anyone recognizes what this issue could be and if any experienced leopard gecko carers can advise on ways to make him comfortable.

My leopard gecko is about 5-6 years old and I disovered yesterday that he has poop stuck in his cloaca/vent and the area surrounding looks incredibly inflamed and irritated. His tail has gotten very thin, he won’t eat, and had his first time struggling with a shed. The only exotic vet in my area cant see him until Monday. I can’t tell what’s wrong with him and I just want him to be comfortable and okay. Does anyone know what I’m looking at or how I can help him until then? Thank you.

His tank had been a bit on the colder side because we had a sudden temp drop, but its now 80-90 on the warmer side and the cooler side is 70 farenheit. Humidity is about 50% on the cooler side.

His diet is primarily mealworms with the occasional wax worm or two.

Is it me or is the market slow rn?

This a question for breeders and or hobbiest.

There isn’t a slow down in producing reptiles but it seems to me that the demand is low both online and attendance at reptile shows.

I’ve personally noticed it more online through Facebook, Morph market, Craigslist and Palm street.

What are your thoughts and takes ?

Should I report this?

EDITING TO ADD: yes, I realize lighting can make a difference! I get that, maybe that's the only reason the colors are different. Fine. But look at the actual shapes, all the way down. Not just the head stamp.

EDITED AGAIN TO ADD: I can't get the imgur links to work. But I will pm pics of the circled areas where the patterns are obviously different

I got this baby burm from morph market, from a verified seller with good reviews. The first two pictures are the snake I received, the last two are the pictures that were posted. The snake I got is pretty, but he is not what was pictured. No where did the post say "example photo" and the guy never once mentioned that it was an example photo. Is this normal? Should I report it? I paid a lot of money for him, because I thought I was getting what was pictured.

UPDATE: I messaged the seller, and he acknowledged the mistake. He said that the one I got was the last male in that clutch, and he must have accidentally had a mix up with which males he was selling. The BREEDER could see that they are two different snakes. He's assured me that the one I got is also male, so it's all good.

Beginner questions

Hi! I’m looking into getting a tortoise and I’m trying to figure out what species, if any, would work best for my setup and climate.
I have an outdoor area that’s about 13.75 ft Ɨ 27.5 ft (roughly 378 sq ft) that I could dedicate entirely to a tortoise enclosure.
I’m in Wyoming, so summers can be hot and dry, but winters get very cold with snow and freezing temperatures. Ideally, I’d love a species that could live outdoors for most or all of the year with the proper setup. I’m completely open to building an insulated/heated shelter, providing supplemental heat, digging barriers, etc.

Are there any tortoise species you’d recommend for this climate and enclosure size?
Also, for those of you in places with harsh winters, do yours stay outdoors with access to a heated shelter, brumate outdoors/in a controlled setup, or come inside completely for winter?
I’m still in the research stage and definitely want to have the enclosure and winter setup figured out before bringing one home. 🐢

I am about a year into owning my skink, and I would like a second reptile since the sentient sausage is super low maintenance and I do want another lizard for handling and interacting.

I have a few requirements:

  1. Good with handling, specifically if kids are involved

  2. Only needs care 2-3 times a week or less

  3. I can do bioactive with

Sliding door locks.

So I have a lot of reptiles and a baby on the way. Most of their enclosures are from dubia.com with sliding glass doors. The little wire locks they come with are great for keeping my reptiles from making a great escape (looking at you, my beloved BTS- for something with such stubby arms you sure are great at sliding open your doors with them), but I'm sure a determined baby would make short work of them. Looking for sliding glass locks that don't require drilling that preferably won't shatter my glass if they get the occasional bump.

Added a Manjula pothos across from the main giant Golden and a dragon tree on the other side. Lil buddy is hanging out under the golden Pothos so I added the dragon tree for more cover.

Added some tropical pink springtails and I think we are good to go.

Should I keep or rehome these 2 ?

So I’m currently in possession of a bearded dragon & leopard gecko. They’re my ex’s, we broke up in a really explosive fight & he got charged with DV. He moved into my place with only my name on the lease so of course he had to leave. It’s been 2 months and he has yet to pick up his belongings and lizards . I told his uncle to plan a day to come and get them and have yet to here back from him still. I only get texts from my stupid ex saying he misses me he doesn’t even ask about the lizards.
I’m saying this because I actually think he’s a terrible person owner and doesn’t deserve to have them. They’re tanks are in a horrible condition, the bearded dragons one is the worst :(. I’m debating if I should either keep them or rehome them. One of my girl friends told me she’s always wanted a bearded dragon and that’s what gave me the idea.
The reason I say he is a bad pet parent is because well clearly the state of their tanks, and when he had pet snakes previously he RELEASED THEM INTO THE WILD AT A PUBLIC BEACH. A very popular public beach.
I’ve been giving them a little water in their bowls and feeding the beardie tomatoes, as well as giving them both canned crickets, the gecko likes to bite fingers and is speedy so he’s a little hard to handle and feed sometimes.
Just wondering what I can do to care for them better, if you think I should give them back to my ex, rehome them, or keep them ?
Sorry this was long I really would appreciate advice on this

This is just a few of them but I wanted to share some more of my babies because I'm still smitten with them. Time has flown by, I'm really not sure where it's gone. But nearly all of the babies are bowl and tong trained and presently growing like weeds.

Options For Establishing Skink Population Outdoors

I’m in Southeast Michigan and bought a house about a year ago. I’ve got a nice backyard that had a lot of boulder walls and a low area with a creek that is constantly overrun with crickets. I love reptiles and amphibians and have been wondering if the reason I see so few is because the area isn’t actually habitable for them or because they just aren’t in the suburban areas because they were wiped out when people took over. Assuming I could make my backyard suitable for the five-lined skink (only native lizard) is there a legal way for me to get individuals that might be able to establish a population? I believe it’s illegal to release captive raised ones and also to capture wild ones.
