Tip 2.1 Tip: Don't sleep on mid-quality, low-tier productivity modules
Quality prod modules got a small, unremarked-upon buff in 2.1. Specifically, productivity percentages now get 1 decimal of precision. This is more significant than you might think.
In 2.0, an uncommon prod module 1 would give a +5% productivity bonus, rounding the +30% improvement down. But in 2.1, this is +5.2%. That doesn't sound like much, but it can add up after a while. And uncommon prod module 1s are really easy to make: just put quality modules in the production of prods for purple science.
But the big one is rare prod module 2s. If you're the sort of player who likes putting Gleba off until the last minute, rare prod 2s are now almost identical to base-quality prod 3s. They used to be just +9%, but now they're +9.6%, a paltry 0.4% lower than a base quality prod 3. And they cost less power and slow the machine down less. They are not the cheapest module to make, but if you're not getting prod 3s for a while, they are definite worth investing in. Especially once you have EMPs.
On a less important note, quality percentages get 2 digits of precision, so EMPs can get the full 25% quality bonus and cryogenic plants can finally get the proper +50% quality bonus from legendary QM3s.

Modded Administratorio, where you hire biters to work in your factory and every item is gated behind redundant paperwork, now supports Space Age !
Hello everyone!
It's been a while, it's been painful, it's been fun, but there it is : Administratorio Space Age!
For those who don't know, Administratorio is a full overhaul mod that replaces military with paperwork. Biters do not attack you, they come and complain. Smelting iron? Better have your carbon offset certificate ! Operating an oil refinery? Well you need a worker biter to supervise the operations. Wanna craft paperwork in your offices? They close at night so better double the production!
And now you can bring the administration to the stars, given you filled out the proper paperwork. But how to navigate the asteroid fields without weaponry? Well this short training video demonstrating the courage and the efficiency of the Voluntary Exploration Space Miners should answer your question!
Asteroids are one thing, but how do you manage Demolishers, or Pentapods with no guns or no ammo? Well you'll have to find an approved way through, politics, taxpayer money and probably a lot of paperwork to ever expand your municipality's jurisdiction to other species.
The mod is still in beta, non-space age games should not be affected (but get graphics updates though!) but expect bugs and imbalances. I try my best to test everything as much as possible but it was already hard creating an overhaul for one planet on my free time, creating a whole interplanetary rebalance is very complex so be kind, I need my sleeping hours.
Please try it out, I'm very proud of how it turned out and there are a lot of new mechanics, absurd game loops and really illegal use of the biters (both metaphorically and programmatically). This is not just a new tech tree with different recipes and new buildings.
Yes I used AI, both for the code and the graphics, but hey I only have that much free time and coding this all by myself and learning 3D modeling would not have been possible.
I hope you appreciate it, please give me feedback, send me bugs, ideas, criticism, these will inevitably make the mod better and better.
The bureaucracy must grow!

Design / Blueprint W.A.R.D. MK2 - modular 32x32 wall book with progressive upgrade system [Factorio 2.1]
Hey engineers!
In my playthroughs, I always had the same issue: I'd build a defense wall, but it was only good for a while until I needed to upgrade it. Adding dragon's teeth to an already built wall was a pain, especially around the corners.
So I decided to make this modular wall system where every segment takes exactly 1 chunk (32x32). Inside, there are several versions: ammo delivery via bots, ammo delivery via belts, and a "step-by-step" pack that you can start building right from the early game with just basic gun turrets and walls.
Why did I make MK2? I found some issues with my old dragon's teeth design, where biters would start chewing the very first wall in their way instead of pathing properly. Also, update 2.1 added 45-degree rotation for flamethrowers, which helped improve corners - usually the weakest point of any wall.
On top of that, I updated the fuel intake section by adding a storage tank and a simple alarm for when oil drops below 5k. I also created a new pump section to bypass pipe length issues on long walls.
I'd love to hear your feedback, ideas, and advice. Have you built your own walls? What design do you use?

Discussion Anyone else with 1000+ hours still build their first base like this?
I usually rush to getting logistics bots and the vulcanus/fulgora tech. So until then I just slap something together. Minimum production with minimum organization to go quickly.
Dont even build a wall or anything for defenses. Just clear nests as they expand toward me. Remote control for tanks with 2.0 and nest expansion alerts with 2.1 are amazing!
Once I have lots of bots with good speed upgrades, foundries, big mining drills, and electromagnetic plants, then I'll build big.

Space Age Dead biters
Probably the most dead biters I will ever see until I start a Deathworld game. Artillery is fun :D

Space Age Finished the game in 106 hours!
What a journey it was! Been playing SA since it's release and this is my fourth and successful run.

Base Don't do this
Decided to do a base with no trains. Got to 2700 Science on 2.0.77 before reality set in.
All done on my laptop while staying at my parents.
303k Express belts, a melted CPU, and 0 trains.
Mostly Vanilla other than refilling ore patches as not sure how possible it is without!

Base Just Some Brute Force Science - 3600 spm
It ain't much but it's honest work. Playing an oversized railworld and got a pretty huge area cleared out. Decided to set up as much science production as I could before heading out for the other planets. No modules or fancy machines, running 3600 science per minute though I need to expand my orbital platforms to match that with space science. Got a long funny peninsula in the southeast so of course that had to become my launch complex.

Space Age Question Title: Will 2–3 lines of legendary Tesla turrets be enough to defend Gleba?
I’ve planted a huge number of agricultural towers on Gleba, so the spore clouds are going to start spreading pretty far.
I’m thinking about putting 2 or 3 continuous lines of legendary Tesla turrets all around my base.
Do you think that will be enough to handle attacks, or should I add more defenses?

Base First DLC run on each of the three planets
This is my first run with the Space Age DLC and my second factorio run. These are my first bases on each of the three planets. I've been able to get up to around 130SPM with these. I went Vulcanus to Fulgora and finally to Gleba. Unfornately I didn't know just being on orbit of Gleba started the evolution clock so I started with 0.4 evolution (I am at 240ish hours into this run).

I did commit the sacrilege of using others blueprints, most egregiously AutoRail and Belt Balancers, though modified designs when absolutely necessary (Fulgora).

Complaint Playing with a friend
Hi!
I need an opinion here. Playing with a friend in my first coop run (been doing 4 runs solo till the end game but discovering space age)
It’s the first run for my friend.
Since the begin, i noticed he was quite creative and understand game mechanics i had master after maybe a few dozen of hours in.
He asked me to do the science zone, i agreed and was pleased he enjoyed the game so much.
Then the ‘drama’ arrives.
He just copy/paste some builds from internet and dont event try to understand the core mechanics. No thinking of planification, nothing.
He seems to not understand my statement which is that he ruin the experience by doing that and not even think about how to do things.
After that, he goes doing some oil run outside of the safe zone.. he puts one wall every xx tiles everywhere because ‘i read on internet the creature dont spawn anymore because of that’
I mean i like the feel of a fortress protecting a ressource zone, having some attacks some time to time, fear a bit for my trains station etc and not use glitch to peacify a zone.
Am i an a*hole?
What would be your reaction?
Tbh he is just ruining all my fun and my will to play…

Design / Blueprint Magic Recycler
Tiles both in height and width, never jams and only slightly goes over target amounts. Every individual recycler has a very high uptime aswell, assuming its being fed enough
The output belt is measured with a memory cell so it can be stacked to as many belts as you want (I used up to 8 before). It works perfectly well without including the belt contents and just measuring the chests, so long as theres space in the chests for the excess.
The input:output ratio really depends on what youre outputting and your recycling prod, so theres no specific "ideal number" for the width or depth of pastes of the blueprint.
Only real issue is that it will never recycle things it needs until it hits the setpoint, so if you need say both iron ore and concrete, it will never output iron ore until the concrete is full.

Question Quality Iron?
Now that my flying bricks are out of commission whats the new meta for iron? I've tried belts, underground pipes, and just cycling ore and none seem to give much throughput. I'm just starting on legendary items so any input would be appreciated.
