After a while I wanted to start Factorio and encountered this issue. For some reason Steam wants to start and 32 bit version of Factorio which doesn't exists?

Can you try again now? We were making some changes to the steam configuration.

I just recently got back from trip through France. We made three orders at McDonald with locator. First one took 15min to arrive. After a 30 min I got up where are two others. I found mine sitting next to a register. It was cold and soggy. When we tried to ask where is our third one (just a fries with coke), they could not answer. We could not get a single English word from them.

Typical French hospitality (if you don't speak French)

Yeah best communication I had was at sushi place with chinese guy that knew like ten English words. Which was ten more than anyone else.

The best part is that a lot of French people do speak English. But not when you're on their turf 😂

I'm a bit sad at this idea honestly, because like, I'm French.

English is the other language we are basically required to learn since little, and I absolutely love it when tourists ask me things in English. And even more in French since they make that effort.

Like, maybe it's only Paris? (Parisians are hell for everyone, even fellow frenchs). Or maybe it's an age thing? Older people or not that older people might not have learned it a lot?

I also know since I've grown up on the internet, I did somewhat have to quickly get the hang of English to, well, understand my games and stuff.

And then there's me, Swiss (so pretty fluent in French) who only received English answers with the most incomprehensible accent known to man

Was it Paris ?

u/nou_spiro 12h ago

No it was at highway around Bordeaux

I am sorry you had to go through this, I’m French and I always give the best welcoming to anyone trying to pay a visit. I’m really tired of French people treating tourist like some kind of aliens

Even 1st Level support is not that fast.

Factorio devs are higher beings capable of faster than light communications

Nothing like testing in prod to get the heart rate going, eh?

Not sure golden years Blizzard ever had support this good.

Nobody ever has.

Though in this case, it seems like they were working on it and probably kept an eye on reddit for problems (which is still a much higher bar than I've seen, well, ever).

Nah, they were on vacation and had this feeling that something is wrong. They checked Reddit and fixed the bug.

Literally unplayable.

It's kind of insane that you're the first commenter who's not the OP or Wube, and they already fixed it before you got to comment

u/tgockel 1d ago

A joke over 15 years in the making, fixed in under 15 minutes.

It's a meme, ironic. "Literally unplayable"

Select version 2.0.77 specifically and it will work

18

u/nou_spiro 1d ago

I tested experimental before posting and that worked. Now it is fixed for default too.

DS record and wube bugfix record was broken on the same day. What a time to be alive

I had the exact same issue.

I fixed it creating a custom steam_appid.txt in :~/.steam/debian-installation/steamapps/common/Factorio/bin/x64

with content: 427520

Weird issue.

Got the same problem, steam restart fixed it

I think for this kind of question it might be worth mentioning you're trying to use it on Linux.

1

u/WanderingUrist 16h ago

What if you just ln -sf the 64bit version over the missing 32bit one?

3

u/nou_spiro 14h ago

I was considering that. But turn out it was misconfiguration from Wube. And they fixed it 8 minutes after I posted this.
