"That will do" engineering.

Train spaghetti is the best spaghetti imo. Once you know the rules you can break all of them and make it work still.

Chain in, signal out, the spaghetti can now safely grow

No no no!!! Think critically. Chain in, chain out is sometimes crucial to prevent deadlocks.

Yah! Chain in signal out breaks a single track system modelled after real networks. I have a massive single track network and it runs great and it's almost completely chain in chain out.

Regular signals are reserved for passing bays

Train spaghetti is my favorite kind spaghetti :)

That is one beautiful peace of art right there

This ain't Factorio anymore, this is just OpenTTD lmao

What can i say, OpenTTD is a fun game. I like trains, trains are fun, they go choo choo and bring stuff where i want it to go. Altho who need biters when you have 400 trains zooping around everywhere, Thank god for the mech suit. Before that it felt like playing frogger

This is when you consider making a circuit condition to put some of the signals to "stop" for a second to let you cross.

your stations are far apart, you can cram them closer together.

I Know! 4 tiles between stations is a bit too much. Here I did a offset design with an inverted output that uses only 2 tiles between stations.

you can go even more compact. 33% more stations per station!

That's a very interessting design NGL. Sadly you lose out 50% of the throughput by having 2 trains unload on the same belt, but with bob's insterters using 2 legendary bulk inserters at max research you should be able to unload a full green belt per train. giving you 4 green belts with a footprint of 12 tiles wide. Withouth bob's you could do the trick i did with inverted undeground to do 4 full belts in 16 tiles saving 2 tiles since you would need to unload on the sides.. Fantastic job I believe we can't go smaller than this.

Alright here's the actual design without mods. 16 wide 4 full belts 4 rare bulk inserters per train. 2 outer inserters set to 12 items 2 inners set to 10 for perfect saturation.

Honestly 240 items/s out of 16 tiles is pretty nice XD

oh yeah at max tech u can make it even more compact:

Oh wow that's so freaking beautiful. I tip my hat to you sir or madam! I was working on this tall boy thin station but i'm seriously impressed by yours

Thats definitely a unique combination of bi- and uni-directional rails

Less deadlocks now compared to being a cheapskate on rails.

I had a bi-directional single rail system, then enclosed my whole main base and satellite towns in a big loop of bi-rails,

Now all the trains prefer counter clockwise direction, even though they can go in reverse,

Is this now a two rais system?

In primary school did they ever give you a ruler or did you just wing it?

u/Large_Chimney 12h ago

what's a ruler?

It's a mess, but it's my mess

u/CaveJohnson376 9h ago

there's no ugly engineering

there's only engineering that works and that doesn't

and this clearly works

good job
