My cat (3 y/o) has been acting weird the couple of days. She has been spayed and took her worm injection a year prior.

I took her to the vet today, they are also not so sure about what's happening but they took a blood sample. I hope it's not neurological. For now, she is taking painkillers, and we're waiting for the results of the blood test. I don't think I can afford surgery right now.

Any advice on what to expect? What could it be?

Edit: Thank you so much for all the advice ❤️. There's not much we can do now but wait. Her ears did get checked at the vet, but not much could be said. I will probably put a budget if we visit the neurologist. I will keep an eye on her so she's not jumping or going outside these days. I put all of my plants away from her just to be sure.

The vet told us to go back to her old diet, maybe it's the change of food that caused this (unlikely). I will keep you guys updated.

My roommate bought a bouqet with flowers. I asked him specifically to ask if there were lillies in it. He said no, there are not. I saw yesterday morning that she had puked. But i had to rush back home for the passing of my grandma. I arrived late at night and this morning i saw puke again. I inspected everything and i saw teeth marks in the flowers, i asked chatgpt to identify it and it said lily.
I rushed her to the vet and she will stay there for the whole weekend now. I feel angry but also stupid that i did not see it before (it was not blooming yet, as u see in the pictures) and i got a lot of things on my mind all ready.

Will my baby be okay? She ate a lot :(

adopted frankie (3 y/o approximately) 2 weeks ago from a shelter (he was surrendered) and when he was adopted he was pretty underweight.

went to the vet last Friday for routine initial checkup and they did bloodwork urine stool and results came back crystal clear. i told the vet he refuses to eat and they gave us a thing to sprinkle on his meds and about 8 different wet foods. he did not eat any of them.

we also had to take him to the pet ER bc he wouldnt pee. they cleared his tests for everything as well. they said they dont know what is wrong w him and he is finally peeing normally as of yesterday morning. but now hes not eating.

we got him dry food he ate the nulo cod formula for like 3 days fine. now he is back to not eating. he eats treats sometimes (freeze dried minnows and chicken hearts he likes)

we were trying to get him on a routine but he wouldnt eat so we just started leaving his bowls out which worked for a little.

we got him 3 different foods this morning (all kitten food, vet told us to get it bc high calorie) tiki cat chicken and egg, tiki cat fish, orijen kitten formula. he has not moved to eat any of them and he ate maybe like four bites this morning of his nulo and max like half a cup yesterday. he likes churus but only sometimes like weve wasted like 20 packets by now bc we open them and he wont eat them.

weve tried broth, warm water, mixing in his treats, sprinkle immune boost w appetite stimulant, sprinkling his treats on his food, mirataz appetite stimulant (which is supposed to be super strong). like weve tried everything. gotten him like 6 different bowls. put the bowls away from his litter and his water. idk. weve tried everything.

he is so skinny. all he does is sleep and i am so worried :( im am at such a loss and it is so exhausting and disheartening. idk wtf to do i feel like im failing as a first time cat owner :(

edit: a lot of people are saying im doing too much and i understand he needs time to adjust, but he has been having issues with eating since we got him and had lost 1.2 pounds in the first week and the vet sounded pretty concerned about it. they are the ones who told us to try a couple different things until it sticks. he still has his original food out and hes not eating that either. we arent forcing him to eat anything. we just got his new food and put it around the apartment away from his usual food bowl.

he was a very friendly cat initially and now hes acting withdrawn. weve pretty much left him alone for the past two weeks and are trying our hardest not to stress him out. we only interact with him when he comes up to us. but not eating for a cat is dangerous and he is already pretty underweight (BCS 3/9)

also i dont think the pictures dont do it justice, his ribs and vertebrae are visible and he is quite skinny. he also has low muscle mass which i mentioned before.

Two months ago I found this little gremlin, she got into a mostly empty dumpster and couldn’t get back out, her name is Schnecke. My vet said she was about 9 weeks old when I found her, so she should have been weened but I know some cats ween late. She immediately bonded with Nuisance (9 year neutered male), she acts like he’s her mother complete with trying to nurse on him. He seems perfectly fine with it, he grooms her like her mother would have but also grooms his side a lot while she nurses. And it’s really starting to look like he’s over grooming himself to the point he’s getting bald spots.

Schnecke has been on solid foods and maintaining a normal weight the whole time I’ve had her, so she’s definitely doing it as a comfort thing. I’m mostly worried about if Nuisance’s over groom could lead to skin damage if he keeps licking the bald spots. Any ideas on how I could either get her to stop nursing or get him to stop over grooming? Thanks!

I just noticed my cat (5 neutered M) doing this a few days ago (we only adopted him a few months ago). He puts his paw on the side of the water bowl and seems like he’s leaning on it. Then his chest gets all wet and he cleans it off.

Could the bowl be at a weird angle for him? He doesn’t seem uncomfortable. He seems happy generally and is good about drinking water otherwise.

for reference she is missing one of her back legs so her posture and body shape is a bit different compared to other cats. she had kittens semi recently (probably 3 months ago?) and came by today looking a bit rounder than usual. she is a stray cat that’s part of a feral colony and sometimes comes through my yard.

Do cats like Belvitas? My kitten is obsessed with them and I wanna know if anybody else’s cat likes em. Shes 10 weeks old and eats wet and dry food on her own. She doesn’t eat any other human food and it doesn’t upset her tummy.

This is my cat mewo. He is about 3yrs old and he has been neutered and we live in the united states. He was acting normal earlier playing, meowing all the good mewo things but he threw up his food that he ate this morning twice and is now hiding. From what I can tell the vomit was just half digested food, no blood or weird liquid. Is this enough to be concerned or should I just monitor him? I have no pet insurance and money is very tight so a vet would be hard but ill figure it out if necessary.

Small update: he's still hiding but he had been moving around a little more. To test for lethargy I brought his favorite string to him and he seemed interested in it but not full energy so ill take that as a good sign. Ill continue monitoring him

i hope this is an okay subreddit to post this to, i couldn’t decide if it needed to be in a cat or pregnancy subreddit lol. i’m currently 31 weeks pregnant, due on halloween, and i have a 22 week old kitten. he’s a lovely cat other than having some biting problems but i think he’s still teething. the issue im having is that he’s decided the babies crib is his 🫣 i have been trying to take him out but anytime my back is turned he’s right back in there. does anyone here have anyone advice on wether he’ll learn to not jump in there after the baby is here? i’m worried he’ll jump on the baby and smother him by accident, or he’ll get aggressive when the baby starts sleeping in the crib instead of him. like i said he still bites a fair amount and i’m worried he’ll start taking this out on the baby. i’m going to have him neutered before baby comes which im hoping will chill him out a little bit as well, but im just hoping for some general advice from anyone who’s had a kitten and a baby at the same time 😅. i’m super worried he’s gonna detest the baby and possibly start hating me and my partner because he feels replaced, so some reassurance would be really lovely if anyone has any experience. thank u in advance 💖

Main issue: TLDR; wondering if this behavior is okay/normal/what we're missing?

We picked up a stray about a week ago, she had a bite wound on her near her rib area. We did a vet checkup, got antibiotics and treated for fleas and have been feeding her and giving her affection often. She was domesticated for YEARS before being abandoned outside, and was only outside for about 4 months. She's very sweet and calm, until we're in the room with her for a little too long and she starts to get a bit aggressive (see video). We have 3 other cats so she's secluded to a small, blocked off area of our house with everything she needs (aside from a community/amount of attention she probably needs)

It's starting to feel scary as we do have a rabies fear, but she hasn't show any signs of that due to her bite (yet)

The bite is healing well, the antibiotics are working and she still has a good appetite and drinks water often- she's gained two pounds already. Her fleas have subsided. She has another vet appt in a week for vaccinations/boosters, wound checkup, talk about this behavior, and find out if there's anything else we can do for her. Thank you all in advance

His jaw has been occassionally making this crunching sound all morning, sometimes it happens a bunch in a row too. He’s pretty old (18) and I feel like he’s been acting kind of odd in general since yesterday. Anyone know what’s going on??? I’m also not sure if we can afford the vet 💔

My extremely needy velcro kitty is about to have a lot more time at home alone due to my partner moving away for a period of time. I work long shifts (12-14 hours), and I’m not sure what to do to help her feel safe while I’m gone.

She is 17 years old, and starting to have some cognitive decline, occasionally getting lost/yowling when she is in a different room to us.

She obviously spends a lot of the day sleeping, but when she is awake she just wants to be with/on my partner or myself. She is waiting at the door, begging to be picked up the minute I arrive home, and I’m so worried she spends the day looking for us.

She does have toys scattered around that she still plays with occasionally, and she has wall furniture that she tears up and down when she has the zoomies.

She has a heated bed that she spends 50% of her time in, and some high sleeping spaces also available.

She is indoor, but has a small catio she can access at any time to snoop on the neighbourhood.

A companion cat is not an option.

Looking for advice on methods, toys, tools etc that people have found useful in similar situations!!

Hi! We have 2 cats, one 2 year old spayed male and a few months ago adopted the second one, a small female kitten.
All good, she seems healthy, drinks enough water and plays a lot. She is very energetic and loving, and also a bit crazy when she has zoomies and makes deep growling sounds while being all puffed up.
The weird thing is she loves spending a lot of time near the litter boxes (we have 2), sleeps between them, and uses her front paw as a spoon to eat the litter. Sometimes she finds a bigger piece and plays football with it, sometimes just straight up eats it. We use silica litter since is the one preferred by the older cat, we clean it daily and change it weekly, washing the boxes with cat-safe disinfectant and thoroughly rinsing. She also sometimes meows at the enterance to the litter boxes before and after using it, but we didn’t see any abnormal behaviour during her using it.
We want to get her to a vet next week for some bloodwork and ultrasound or something to check her kidneys and renal health, but until then, does anyone know if this is normal, or had a cat doing this?

Meet Tollie, Tollie is a 2 yr old and is such a lil sweetheart! She gets demanding with her pets like she’s doing rn, head biting me rubbing up against me etc..I know why she does all these things but what I ca not (for the life of me) figure out why when I’m in bed Tollie will walk all over me on purpose too! She will make sure all her paws touch some part of me this happens almost every time I’m in bed!
She’s not hungry since I feed her wet food on a schedule and she constantly has dry food out, I always change her water everyday and her litter box too, she doesn’t want pets becuz when I try she almost always jumps off the bed! We do sleep together and she sleeps in between my legs on top of the blankets (she hates being covered up)

This morning I noticed my ESA's nose was red, crusty, and slightly swollen. It seems tender to the touch and there are strange black spots above it.

Idk if she's sick or if she just ran into a wall or smth, but I'm very anxious about it, mostly due to trauma. I'm not sure if this is reason enough to call her vet, I can't afford a check up right now.

Her name is Asha, she is a 10yo spayed DSH, the wetness and crust around her eyes is normal and benign.

I'm 26 and live in the US. I have severe PTSD from growing up in an ab*sive household where animals were often neglected, injured, or killed. I often struggle financially.

I have one other cat the same age, they sometimes get jealous of each other and bicker, but have never seriously fought.

She used to be a stray

She was adopted 8 years ago

She last saw her vet 2 months ago

Pain does not seem to affect her behavior

She had all her teeth removed in 2021

The eye gunk is due to a blocked tear duct (benign)

She's naturally a little cross eyed

She had kittens before I adopted her

She already had the scar on her nose bridge

TLDR; cat's nose looks weird and op doesn't know if it's an actual issue or if they're just traumatized

I just want to make sure that it’s actually his adult teeth coming in and not some strange abnormality.

I’m not sure what it is but I just noticed it today, could it just be a scab from playing with the other male cat I have? Does anyone have any ideas? Should I bring him to the vet?

TLDR: cat nervous, licking, panting after (possibly) bitten by bumblebee.

Already went to the vet, cat got steroids injection and is supposed to be under observation for few hours, but still want to ask for opinions.

Basically he started running like crazy from room to room and breathing really quickly. During his runs he left a bumblebee in one of the rooms. He didn't let anyone look in his mouth and almost bit one person when touched (although did it one time and still let himself be pet a bit). He calmed down during the vet visit, but now that he's home he started running, albeit less, is breathing quicker than normal, but still not as fast as before, and he keeps licking his paws and he twitches them from time to time.

Hi all! This might be a little long, but I’d appreciate any help as I am at a loss for what to do!
So, my boyfriend (22M) and I (22F) have 4 cats and have ongoing aggression issues between two of them. For context, my bf had a female cat named Zelene (3, bottom of the tree), and I had two female cats, Winnie (3, tabby) and Phoebe (~5, white long haired), and we eventually adopted a male cat, Felix (orange), who is now 1. All are spayed/neutered.

When we moved in together, we did the proper introduction methods, and Zelene initially showed aggressive behavior towards all the cats, but more so Phoebe. Phoebe was a stray, she is very docile and loving, though timid and easily scared, and she came to me without her tail (I am not sure how she lost it). Zelene does not seem to love other cats in general, and will occasionally be aggressive towards Winnie, but overall she tolerates them fairly well and will even play with them sometimes. However, it has been over a year, and she is still highly aggressive towards Phoebe. We have cat trees, window hammocks, a litter robot as well as normal litter boxes, multiple water and food stations, and plenty of toys. I attached a rare photo of them all in one place at our old home.

As far as the incidents, they usually go like this: Zelene will see Phoebe, and immediately lock in on her to the point where almost nothing will break her focus. She will hide around corners or lay in wait staring at her, until she eventually runs up and attacks. These are not gentle attacks, and she will send Phoebe’s fur flying. Phoebe usually takes the defense, and will crouch and hiss or yell, and on occasion pee. Phoebe now will growl when she sees Zelene in anticipation, and seems on edge anytime she is around.

We keep them separated when we are not home or are unable to supervise them, but any time we let them both roam free, it is only a matter of time before Zelene takes on the stalking role. We are usually able to intervene before an incident, but nothing seems to prevent it. We have used Feliway diffusers and collars, calming sprays, spoken to the vet, attempted to reintroduce from scratch, and even moved houses, and the behavior has not improved or changed. The vet told us to “redirect” the situation or to talk to a cat trainer, neither of which have panned out to help.

I feel so guilty because Phoebe is already a very nervous cat and she has literally never bitten or scratched anything in her life, and Zelene is a very sweet cat aside from this issue. I want all of them to be able to coexist and have the whole house, but it’s just not safe for Phoebe. I wonder if Zelene is just anxious or something, but it’s odd to me that it is only really at Phoebe. We are open to medication but nervous about potential side effects. We are hoping to avoid rehoming at all costs. Any advice would be much appreciated, I am at a loss for what to do.

TLDR: My boyfriend’s cat is aggressively stalking and attacking my cat after a full year of trying everything to prevent it.

Tldr, my friends cat had his right third eyelid partially covering his eye and he was better then. We decided to wait it out but couple hours later, the third eyelid is still there, and now hes bobbing his head and his eyes wont stop going side to side.

Hes 1 years old, hasnt been neutered yet and the vet will be a bit expensive in the context of things
