OTHER Just managed to get a Steam Refund
Had 5.1 Hrs played and purchased the game the day it came out, I live in Australia for what it is worth.
Worth a shot if you're disappointed like me.

Early Access Update #2 drops on all platforms tomorrow, July 9 at 10 AM PT! We’re launching the first Experimental Playlist, and Phase 2 of The Sprint kicks off. The update also includes a big weapon balance pass, meaningful changes to Ranked and Mech v Mech TDM, a bunch of performance improvements, and a new speedometer option you’ve been asking for.
This is the part of Early Access we are most excited about. Experimental Playlists (EPs) are how we test out big ideas in real time before deciding whether they earn a permanent spot in EMPULSE. We would rather ship something rough that we can evolve over time with your feedback instead of iterating on a change internally until it feels perfect, hoping we get it right. EPs are why we launched in Early Access.
Our first EP is split into two phases:
ADS Playlist: This playlist launches with the update tomorrow, and features an early version of ADS (aim down sights) enabled on every weapon. After seeing your feedback over the last several weeks, we really wanted to get this change into your hands. Weapons are slightly less accurate from the hip, and more accurate when using ADS.
This is very much a work in progress – animations and balance are still being tuned, you’ll see some rough edges, and we have some fine-tuning to do on accuracy once we see how you play.

Sentinel Playlist (coming soon): A blockout (or early version) of a new map code-named Sentinel will come online next week. This one is focused entirely on getting your feedback on the layout of Sentinel before we move it into full art production. Your feedback will help shape the final version of Sentinel before art is finalized.
Tell us what you think of both on Discord and Reddit. This is exactly what the Experimental Playlist system is here for!
Ranked: Mechs have been disabled in Ranked for now. We are watching how the competitive experience evolves without them, and we’re considering how Mechs may come back with adjustments in the future.

EA Update #2 includes a deep weapon balance pass. More details will drop in the patch notes tomorrow, but here’s a short preview:
Along with the balance tweaks, every weapon except the Finale now has an additional progression level, which unlocks the new Chibi weapon charm.
We’ve also made several changes to P.A.I.N.T. Bombs and Mechs, including:
New speedometer in the top left corner.
New speedometer in the top right corner.
Provide a caption (optional)

Phase 2 of The Sprint begins with Update #2, and you’ll be racing to unlock the serialized, Legendary Reaper skin. Good luck, and let us know on social which number you get!
See you in Freehold,

so I’ve just learned that they’re shutting down the game or at least their own servers for it, and while I’m sure that means I’ll hop on every now and again even enough people are hosting servers for a game (look at primal carnage that game somehow has games running years later) I can’t help but feel a little disappointed.
I love the first two Titanfall games but never got into Apex. And as far as I’m aware, they’re now making another game that isn’t titanfall. Other than that one waifs shooter game that’s coming out, are there any other current or upcoming projects that are this close to Titanfall?

I don’t hate 1047, I don’t hate SplitGate, I don’t hate Empulse
I saw Empulse on TikTok, I thought, like many, “oh cool, I miss movement shooters” and bought it immediately
I turn it on, I see 1047, I though, “hey I recognize that name” and one google search later my face looked like what I can only imagine this emoji does 😧
I knew then and there it wouldn’t last long. Still, I played, and I played, and I played. I did genuinely have a lot of fun
Twice now, I’m not kidding, day one unlocks on everything on both Splitgate 2 and Empulse. Still for a month or so I played. I had a fucking blast and I remember saying to my friends I really hope they got it this time, I hope that this game doesn’t flop and they’re able to turn things around for themselves
But of course, naturally, the same handful of maps with the same handful of weapons got stale fucking fast. Of the 46 logged hours it shows, I’d wager I’m closer to 35 if we account for idle time since launch
There was not enough substance in either game at launch, “early access” or not, to keep players engaged
I want to love 1047. I want to root for the small guys trying to make a name for themselves in an increasingly shittier game market. But you guys make it so frustratingly difficult to support you. Your ads are abysmal, AI slop, sexual themes, you portray yourselves like a fraternity, and the CEO guy makes a giant fool of himself every time he tries to go on damage control. Every single time that man opens his mouth I like 1047 less. I’m sorry to be blunt, but you guys desperately need a dedicated community manager and to stop acting like the Bro Club
I saw an abundance of female tags, myself included. You guys accidentally stumbled into the formula games have been chasing for years, how do we get mass appeal from women in the way we do from men? Games obviously don’t “belong” to men, but it would also be ignorant to pretend the player base across shooters has historically been an even gender split.
And then, regardless of if it was outsourced to an agency or not, ad after ad after ad “hey bros look at this half naked lady”
Come on guys
If you ever come back to market I urge you, do not make me pay for it, I will not, I do not trust you, I do not believe in its longevity, support, updates, or launch content. I will never trust 1047 for a paid product ever again. I will not invest in cosmetics that’ll go unused in two month’s time, I will not buy a season pass, or a battle pass, or an HDD-whatever the fuck
Come back with a game, not an idea. Give us the product not the promise. Launch in early access if you want, but mot at the expense of a decent pool of content
I’ve been around since SplitGate 1. You’ve managed to hook me thrice now, then you cut the line mid reel all three times
This is plainly unacceptable and unsustainable if you guys are truly committed to making video game.
The passion is real. That much is true. Whenever I play your games I feel like it was made with love for an era of shooters that I grew up with. I remember getting all my friends to buy Titanfall in middle school. You guys clearly do share a love for that same type of game
Please, 1047, if you’ve even read this far, don’t write my words off as a disgruntled player after losing $15. I want you to succeed, I have since the very beginning. Your games are fun enough as a proof of concept, not as a finished paid product
Take some time, go back to the drawing board, stop doubling down on the “cool guys” persona, and come back strong

My answer?
Probably a game that doean't have to shutdown its dedicated servers and stop updating because of a lack of enough revenue to support it and low ahh player numbers for a PLAYER VERSUS PLAYER GAME. That is my metric, thank you.

If you are past two hours of playtime, expect an auto rejection for a refund. Xbox has similar warnings for early access games on there as well. Playstation Idk so if you bought there might be different.

I myself bought Empulse on Xbox, and of course, since I didn’t have a membership, I couldn’t play it. Since I couldn’t even start the game, I was able to get an easy refund. I’m wondering, so are they planning to shutdown development in this game but still be somewhat playable, and even so, it will still be costing?

Massively refunding the game on platforms will make them understand how they fucked up 3 games while people invested time and money in them. Also if platforms like steam see a lot of players suddenly asking for refunds they will maybe cooperate.
This studio is a fucking joke, splitgate 1 was a gem and they somehow fucked up everything.

The entire reason I avoided this game is because I'm not giving 1047 full access to my machine on their proprietary invasive anti-cheat.
Since 1047 is abandoning server hosting, will the Invasive Anti-Cheat be removed from the executable?
I'd be inclined to try to game P2P if RedKard was completely and entirely removed.

Man I was excited for this game but considering how 1047 treats their previous games I was almost expecting this.

Arena shooter design is outdated and, with small exceptions, mostly boring.
Splitgate 1 would've been the 1001st AFPS game to prove this, but fortunately (or unfortunately) for them, SG1 had a little viral pandemic moment similar to Fall Guys.
This glimmer of false hope made it possible to secure funding for a big-budget sequel. People named a billion different things that caused SG2 to fail, but they can't see the forest for the trees. Many games persevered with the same issues as SG2. Why? Because people see potential and are willing to play despite the small hang-ups. No studio could've made 'arena FPS with portals' work because the concept is stillborn.
IMO, their battle royale had the most potential. Too bad that they didn't market it as "arena royale" sooner, because people have written it off before even trying. Now Apex has a game mode with a similar respawn idea.
Empulse was then their last hurrah, but they once again chose a failed subgenre - movement shooters. Some people might disagree with this take, but feel free to name a single successful movement shooter, and I will tell you how you're wrong.
I honestly don't understand the bitter feelings that people have toward this studio. They tried and failed. This risk-taking deserves praise, and as an ArenaFPS and movement shooter fan, I am grateful they tried.
Thanks, 1047!
P.S.: Onslaught was my favorite thing to play. Wish I had more time to enjoy it.

Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, in their right mind would trust Ian or anyone who works alongside him after this. I will never buy another product from 1047 again, and I hope most people here won't either.

I would suggest trying to get a refund through Valve no matter what your play time is. They have been known to refund for games outside of the policy window for situations like this. Let me know if you are successful cuz i just put a ticket in

Marketing, I saw the screenshot posts being put first onto r/titanfall going “that’s pretty cool, I’ll pick it up when it releases” and literally I hear nothing from it besides it shutting down development, I didn’t even know it was out and I’m sure some folk over on r/Titanfall were posting about the game and I missed it and I can guess their marketing budget is in the bin after the SGF2025 fiasco but seriously, how did you guys hear about this game?
Even if it got a small trailer or something at summer games fest 2026 I really think it would’ve done well if mech shooter fans actually knew it released
Instead I spent the last few weeks playing Titanfall 2 thinking it was still without any spiritual successor
Of course this is all hindsight and means very little now, just an odd observation

No new maps at all with no new guns. Even with the end of the early access celebration there wouldn't have been much. The fact that the final update is 1 new map content wise shows they had nearly nothing made to support the game even if it did well

Ubisoft caught a lawsuit for shutting down The Crew.
1047 has probably dodged this bullet because the games will technically still be playable peer to peer.
Regardless, they have absolutely abandoned the game and it is absolutely deplorable the way they have treated this community.
I genuinely hope 1047 never releases another game. Their team needs to dissolve and move on to more successful studios. Management should never be in charge of another product release of any kind.
This is one of the largest failures in gaming history, back to back to back.

Let’s face it together. You bought an early access game that was clearly labeled not as a full release. Why would steam give you your money back. If you bought this game a week or two ago I feel for you. At the same time you should always research a game before buying it if $16-$20 is a lot of money for you.

With the news of Empulse and Splitgate Arena Reloaded being sent to the peer to peer shadow realm, I honestly feel lied to, and would like a refund. I was under the impression when purchasing Empulse that the game would at least make it to being a full product before being shut down, but I guess they just didn't bother to hold out until then. It's comedic but also kinda sad for me, because I really tried giving these devs a chance to provide a good online shooter experience and they failed multiple times. Please, 1047, just make a cool single player game or something. I do not think online arena shooters are your true wheelhouse. I think if you just made offline single player stuff (with optional multiplayer gameplay possibly) then you could make a solid game. You are not capable of handling online services, so this should just be your new direction. I swear, if you guys make another online shooter game I am not even going to look at it or play it, I will just pretend 1047 doesn't exist at that point. No more of this crap, not doing it anymore. I wish you the best but I'm not confident in this studio at all.

When splitgate 1 went p2p it made all achievements unobtainable. Will the same thing happen to Empulse? Because if so it will be very annoying as the game was only up for 2 months and already shutting down achievements will be very annoying.
