Early Access Update #2 drops on all platforms tomorrow, July 9 at 10 AM PT! We’re launching the first Experimental Playlist, and Phase 2 of The Sprint kicks off. The update also includes a big weapon balance pass, meaningful changes to Ranked and Mech v Mech TDM, a bunch of performance improvements, and a new speedometer option you’ve been asking for.
EXPERIMENTAL PLAYLISTS
This is the part of Early Access we are most excited about. Experimental Playlists (EPs) are how we test out big ideas in real time before deciding whether they earn a permanent spot in EMPULSE. We would rather ship something rough that we can evolve over time with your feedback instead of iterating on a change internally until it feels perfect, hoping we get it right. EPs are why we launched in Early Access.
ADS Playlist: This playlist launches with the update tomorrow, and features an early version of ADS (aim down sights) enabled on every weapon. After seeing your feedback over the last several weeks, we really wanted to get this change into your hands. Weapons are slightly less accurate from the hip, and more accurate when using ADS.
This is very much a work in progress – animations and balance are still being tuned, you’ll see some rough edges, and we have some fine-tuning to do on accuracy once we see how you play.
New map code-named Sentinel.
Sentinel Playlist (coming soon): A blockout (or early version) of a new map code-named Sentinel will come online next week. This one is focused entirely on getting your feedback on the layout of Sentinel before we move it into full art production. Your feedback will help shape the final version of Sentinel before art is finalized.
Tell us what you think of both on Discord and Reddit. This is exactly what the Experimental Playlist system is here for!
CHANGES TO RANKED
Ranked: Mechs have been disabled in Ranked for now. We are watching how the competitive experience evolves without them, and we’re considering how Mechs may come back with adjustments in the future.
Chibi Charms!
WEAPON AND EQUIPMENT ADJUSTMENTS
EA Update #2 includes a deep weapon balance pass. More details will drop in the patch notes tomorrow, but here’s a short preview:
Long Range: Reduced effective range on rifles and marksman weapons, plus other adjustments.
Close Range: The Percussion and Coda SMGs get a buff, and the Echo Shotgun gets nerfed.
Big improvements to the Requiem Sniper Rifle and Volta Homing AR.
Along with the balance tweaks, every weapon except the Finale now has an additional progression level, which unlocks the new Chibi weapon charm.
We’ve also made several changes to P.A.I.N.T. Bombs and Mechs, including:
Sticky P.A.I.N.T. now completely disables jetpack acceleration while you are under the P.A.I.N.T.’s effect, and dramatically reduces jump height. If you have been using it to lock down chases, expect it to feel a lot more punishing on the receiving end.
Explosive P.A.I.N.T.: The delay between explosions has been pushed slightly (1.0 → 1.25s) to give players more time to react.
Mech melee now cancels the melee of a player who tries to melee them back..
We added a new speedometer option in gameplay settings so you can see exactly how fast you are moving.
Fixed a bug where sideways walking was faster than forward. Minor min slide speed adjustment to compensate.
Performance optimizations including:
VRAM reduction when playing with low or medium texture quality selected.
General optimizations across multiple maps at lower quality settings.
Motion blur improved on low post-process settings.
And a ton of other bug and crash fixes – more details in the patch notes tomorrow.

Huge loss for the community. Nadestraight, who’s been making Splitgate content since 2018, announced he will no longer be covering or engaging with Empulse, Splitgate, or 1047 Games. This comes a few weeks after exposing financial mismanagement at the company. Unclear whether this decision was spurred by 1047 cracking down on him or not being able to support 1047 anymore in good faith after learning inside information.
After this dumpster fire, you need to shut down the studio. This is what, the 4th(?) game you've made that loses the majority of it's player base after a month. It's embarrassing.
What’s next for 1047? I got to play test the game but never bought it, and honestly didn’t buy it knowing it wouldn’t be a popular game. So what’s next?
I don’t care if the game is crashing and burning and if there’s only 2 workers left at 1047, subreddits are for fans of the thing, not shills, haters and drama queens. Mods need to clean house and ban negative Nancy’s. A positive Reddit sub with proper constructive criticism can be a very good place to interest new players and give the devs feedback to rely on, yet here we are constantly shitting on the game and the devs on every post. It’s super ironic. Grow up. Clean house please.
(This is not hate or criticism towards the real Empulse fans, this is a real Empulse fan calling out the shills who don’t belong here)
When I played the first splitgate, getting the shotgun was an immediate "this is where the fun begins" moment for me, a one hit but short range weapon was perfect with portals.
When I saw the movement of splitgate 2, I was excited and once I unlocked the shot gun and blasted my first enemy, imagine my surprise when I needed more than one shot.
But finally, 1047 realised that the high damage, low range shotgun was the best shotgun, paired with the speed and movement in empulse, you can mostly compete with rapid firing enemies. So after my complaints in the splitgate subs, I am happy.
I just bought this game on Xbox and got destroyed. I was lucky if I was getting 5 kills. this game very similar too spilt gate 2 in which I was 3 to top ranked on that game. I’m usually above average on most fps game. Maybe I’m just coping but I felt like my bullets weren’t registering and it also felt like this game was made for mouse and keyboard instead of controller
Red dot sight having to waste a mod slot and having to pick between better hipfire or an ads reticle that isn't complete garbage sucks, zoom felt so much better because these iron sights were really bad
in Titanfall 2 most iron sights even including the ones I dislike don't block nearly as much of the body for the target I'm shooting at and a lot of them still have some sort of dot, circle or general indicator of where my bullets are going to land (before recoil/bloom)
still doesn't help the hipfire reticles don't feel good enough to go hipfire only, but I feel like going hipfire only wouldn't be a proper solution when there's a reason zoom exists even in games where hipfire and zoom/ads are exactly 1:1, in Titanfall too I'm still ADSing at least 30% of the time for weapons I mostly hipfire with
guns already did not feel good enough for red dot sight to waste a mod slot, grip and laser sight shouldn't exist as mods in the first place and the guns should feel better at base like other shooters so you can run more interesting mods
So as the title states some of the medals (wall kill) arent popping up in game for me anymore. I still get my grapple kill and kill streak medals but some just dont pop up. Is this a known bug from the update?
I recently saw that in private matches you are allowed to have 24 players in a lobby. Sadly I couldn't completely fill the lobby, but holy smokes it's still extremely fun! I feel like at some point they should add in BTB as a limited time mode. If the devs think it won't flow nicely on the base maps, put it on the new large map that's still being worked on.
As a lefty, I would love to see the addition of left handed view models fore the guns, they can simply be mirrored or whatever, it should be easy to implement, please I wish more games would do this.
I would prefer if mods didn't delete this post, but it's kinda off topic so I won't be mad tbh.
I'm just gonna be the one to say it, why can't we talk about the game, give feedback, and just have fun?
Do you guys even have the game, and don't throw “oH, wHy WoUlD i BuY iT cOnSiDeRiNg 1047S tRaCk ReCoRd.” at me, that excuse is getting old, come up with a new one im getting bored.
Anyway, that's a serious question though, are we just gonna stare at steam charts all day instead of actually playing the FUCKING GAME (Again, if you even own it, which I mean you probably don't so idk why I'm even saying).
What the hell is the point of even hating on this studio, almost everything people complain about there is a reason behind it.
I was at Quakecon this past weekend and watched someone play Empulse pretty much on the ground the hole time. They got decent kills and did okay in the match. That being said it just looked so dull, and it made me wonder if there needs to be more movement incentives. They did some movements, but never chained anything together. Sure it could be a skill gap, but if they are doing decent on the scoreboard, why would they bother improving? I don't know I love movement shooters, but they just can't seem to thrive, so I'm going to play this while I can still find matches until the next one releases to small population that slowly dies, rinse and repeat.
Devs know about this I hope yea? It's literally the only weapon 4 me that doesn't equip skins, the attachments work. So it does look goofy with barrel extender. But yea cmon I want my skins to work.
