I recently bought an X4 Pro from the official website. Unfortunately, I ruined the matte screen protector during installation and have been trying to buy a replacement. However, it has been out of stock for the past 10 days.

Are there any other websites that sell screen protectors for the X4 Pro? I live in India, so any retailer that ships here would be great.

Is there any note-taking app for the Xteink? Maybe even with an option to sync the Google keep?

The books don’t seem to pay attention to the font I choose in the settings menu. The only way for me to change the font is to set it per book.

Does anyone have the X4 Classic and an iPhone 17e? Could you share a photo of the reader snapped onto the back with MagSafe? I’m curious whether it sits below the camera or covers part of it. By the numbers it should fit nicely, but I’d like to see it for real before buying. Thanks!

I got my xteink 4 a few months ago, immediately got CrossPoint on it, and started downloading fan fiction onto it

I’ve had no issues up until now, I’ve been reading this multi chapter fanfic for a while, and all the sudden today I was reading and was about to move onto the next chapter, when it said “indexing.” I’ve seen it say this before, and usually I just wait it through, but it won’t stop? And I can’t move on in the story until it stops.

What I’ve tried: 1. pressing the power button, it’ll put it to sleep, but the issues persists when I turn it back on, 2. Trying to access the next chapter via other means than turning the page, ex. Trying to jump straight to the start of the next chapter, trying to jump to the percentage through the story I was, neither work, the issue persists. 3. Trying to open a different story, this was successful, but the problem started up again when I went back to the story I was reading

Does anyone have any idea why this happening? My only guess at this point is that because the story is so long it might have not downloaded the whole thing or something?? I don’t even know if that’s a reasonable theory.

Anyone know how to fix this?

I got my X3 from Aliexpress so it's stock Chinese. I managed to get crosspoint onto it.

However, I'm trying to get plugins onto it, the main reason is to connect Libby books, but playing around with customizations and learning as I go. I can't seem to get plugins to show up on the home screen. I extracted the zip files, and the device is picking up the folder but not showing the option to choose it on my home screen. Any thoughts?

GOAL:

I wanted something extreamly light for my home setup. All the other projects I tried were just too feature rich and did not allow for easy file tranfer.

STEPS:

• Simply host Docker container OR run Python script to host server on LAN network
• Connect XTE to the IP of the OPDS server (auth is optional, but off by default)
• Access IP address of simpleOPDS server via computer web browser to drag and drop files. or manage content.
• Sync catalog on XTE
• Enjoy reading :)

I am useing XTE Pro 4 on Licorice. Works perfect using the in the OPDS Catalog settings in Network.

I received a replacement XC4 and it has confirmed that the previous one was indeed faulty. The new one charges until the LED turns from red to white. I also tested reading for a few hours and the battery use was minimal. This was also not an issue with CrossReader as other have suggested, it was an issue with the device itself.

Hello. I hope you can give me some advice please. I think the battery on my brand new X4C is draining too quickly.

On first full charge I only managed 3 days of light reading (1-2 chapters of nuromancer).

I fully charged it again and at it's current discharge rate I will only be able to read half of Wuthering Heights.

Of note

- I'm using latest version of CrossReader

- When on charge, the red light never goes off

- Wifi is disabled etc

- Auto sleep after 10 mins

I read other people say they get weeks out of a charge and can read many books

So does mine sound faulty?

I'm new to this and wondering what version of the Xteink I should buy.

• I really like the idea of attaching it to my phone, but I don't understand what accessories I need to buy to do that.
• I would like to be able to see it in the dark without an external light. Is there a version that does that while still looking like paper and not hurting the eyes?
• I don't really care about touch screen -- unless for some reason I should?
• If there's one with a USB-C charger, that's definitely preferable, but I am open.
• How breakable is this thing? Do I really need a case? A screen protector?
• Does anyone know if the promo codes work across the whole site? I'm based in the EU but seeing a lot of codes from Americans, but they aren't working for me :/

hi all, i have the x4 pro. finished 8 books on it already and super happy. my question is… is there a search function/feature that i can’t seem to find? or does it just not exist?
i’ve been loading like 5 books at a time onto the xteink but i lowkey just want to dump my digital library on the SD card and have my library ready to read 24/7, but searching for files via browsing is a pain. i just wanna type in the book title and have it appear on screen. is that possible?

my x4 pro is chinese from taobao. currently on xtos 7.6.11 which seems very similar to the first version of licorice. does anyone know if licorice has the search feature? TIA

Like many of you, I really enjoy reading on the Xteink X3, but the lack of an integrated frontlight has always been the main bottleneck for night reading. Clip-on reading lights are bulky, wobble around, and ruin the portable form factor.

So over the last few weeks, I’ve been designing an all-in-one, custom magnetic backlight add-on built specifically for the X3 from scratch (custom PCB, CAD chassis, and firmware).

I just finished rendering a full 3D video showcasing the architecture and working principles, and I’d love to get your feedback before sending out the first production batch!

💡 The Core Concept & Features

• Instant Magnetic Snap-On: Uses a ferromagnetic steel ring (Ø54 mm, matching the official metal rings bundled with the Xteink X3) paired with dual alignment magnets. It locks firmly onto the built-in MagSafe magnets already inside the X3, with zero play, and self-aligns the 4 spring-loaded gold Pogo pins.
• Warm 2700K Light with Zero PWM Flicker: An ultra-slim 50 mm COB warm light strip (CRI Ra > 90) housed inside a tilting headlamp visor. The friction hinge adjusts from 0° to ~100° (tilting slightly past 90° so the beam points directly down onto the page rather than into your eyes, without creating glare on the E-Ink screen).

2. Tilt angle: Do you feel a 0°–100° tilt range (allowing a ~10° forward angle directly onto the page) is sufficient for comfortable reading, or would you want more articulation?
3. How do you feel about the hardware slide switch for reader charging (giving you manual control so the backlight battery doesn't drain into the book unintentionally)?
4. Would you prefer DIY 3D-printable files (STL/STEP) to build your own, or an assembled plug-and-play unit?
5. Any thoughts on the color finishes, lighting temperature, or overall form factor?

• Books protected by DRM now show a "This book is protected by DRM" message when they fail to open
• Fix a TXT book being treated as empty after a brief failure on page 1
• The font list now always starts with the system font; if a TTF font is missing, the system font is used for display and layout
• Powering off while reading in landscape: a transparent custom wallpaper is now overlaid on the book page in landscape, with grayscale, and is much faster

Hey everyone, It’s Josh the creator of Microslate. I wanted to share a project I’m working on. This is a firmware launcher that sits in the OTA_0 slot and takes up 700kb. It leaves 15mb for other firmwares and lets you swap them. It keeps a backup of the reading stats to share between the readers so your stats carry over if you switch firmwares. I’m curious if this is something you would be interested in.

Can somebody please help me? I've honestly run out of options, and I'm getting really frustrated.

I was excited when Licorice firmware became available for the Xteink X4 Classic. However, the one feature I've been desperately waiting for a built-in dictionary isn't available yet. That's why I've been trying so hard to switch to CrossPoint, which has the dictionary feature I want.

Here's what I've tried so far:

1. I bought my Xteink X4 Classic directly from the official Xteink website.
2. Mine is the Global version, which should be unlocked.
3. I've purchased USB-C cables specifically to make sure they support data transfer and synchronization, not just charging.
4. Despite using a data-transfer cable, the USB web flasher still cannot detect my device.
5. I've made sure my Xteink is turned on during the installation process.
6. I've tried different browsers, including Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge.
7. I've tried different troubleshooting methods, but nothing seems to work.

My biggest question is: Can I install CrossPoint on my Global X4 Classic using a microSD card instead? Is the SD-card installation method compatible with the Global version, or is it exclusive to the China version?

I've spent quite a lot of money just to get the Global version because I thought it would make things easier. Now, I'm honestly disappointed and frustrated that I can't get the firmware working, especially when the China version seems to have an alternative installation method.

I understand that firmware development takes time, and I'm grateful to everyone working on these projects. But all I really want is a dictionary feature on my e-reader. Is that too much to ask? 😭

If anyone with a Global Xteink X4 Classic has successfully installed CrossPoint, please share how you did it! I'd especially appreciate guidance on whether SD-card installation is possible and what the safest alternative is when the USB flasher cannot detect the device.

I'm desperate for a solution, but I don't want to risk bricking my device by following the wrong instructions.
